She started to get it but something got confused partway through. At least she was working with him. It didn't help that he didn't know what he was really doing.

She wouldn't even move this time, her ears set back and she growled a bit. Julian just hissed in return, not allowing her to challenge his authority.

Her head dipped a little when he hissed at her and They managed to get halfway through the circle. Good, good, not they just needed the other half.

When they finished the circle, Julian could have screeched in joy. But that would probably just freak his mount out, and he didn't want to do that after they had figured this out. Instead, he just grinned, patted her neck and scratched at her ears.
"There, all done," he said, slipping off her back and giving her more encouraging pats.
