"I'm alright! I'm alright!" Came a muffled voice from a torrent of cracked and upheaved snow. Jerry scrambled out, dusting himself off, straightened his glasses, "Right.. ah... th-thank you Wash um." He coughed. Well, at least hte girls had been covered. He hobbled forward to help pull Al up to his feet. "Alright, so... just... don't forget to... leave markers so we can... find our way back and all that, ahahaha. Everyone in one piece, right? What was the Fear reading on that? Who has the scanner?"
And then the ground upheaved again with a fresh crack.

The girls and Wash remained safe in the alcove, but Wash had to reach out to steady Jerry as the ground shivered with aftershocks.
However, he only had so many hands, so once again Aleister was out of luck.

After the second quake Aleister fell on his face making a muffled noise. Probably something akin to I hate this place. At least Wash had protected everyone else.
Aleister had moved a head to scout the area and was about to call in to everyone else when suddenly the danger hit.
Conclusion? Aleister was a fail death hunter.

Syd shook off her heroworship when they hit the smooth area and pushed forward. "I can do this, let me help, Aleister," she said quietly as she headed quietly into the snow. She had worked as a death hunter once before, she thought, she could do it again.
(Filling in as a spare Death hunter.)

Sasha's nervous humming stopped for an instant as she gave Sydney a bright, beaming smile. She'd been busying herself planting the cheery red flags in the snow, but she hadn't had a chance to when the ground started trembling. When her friend was able to guide them through danger (poor Al!) Sasha gave the other woman a quick hug, wrapping an arm around Syd's shoulders.
Once releasing Syd, Sasha went back to planting the bright flags in the snow, half-humming, half-singing a song under her breath.
"Aux armes, citoyens
Formez vos bataillons
Marchons, marchons!
Qu'un sang impur
Abreuve nos sillons!"
She paused, frowning as she straightened, turning to give Jerry a very serious look.
"Jerry."

Jerry tried not to look down as they made their way across the dangerous path. That had been a close one... Al had almost- but no matter, no matter, they were... they were doing well. Suddenly, he heard Sasha's voice, and he turned once they were on slightly more solid ground, "Ah... y-yes? Is everything alright? Are you alright? Thank you Syd!" He called out before turning his attention back to the girl who had been ominously quiet the whole adventure thus far.

Sasha's expression turned from serious to something more concerned.
"I'm alright, Jerry." A pause.
"Are you alright, Jerry?" Another pause.
"My music-batteries died." She gestured feebly at the earbuds.

Jerry smiled softly, reaching to take her hand as they tromped through the snow. Things... seemed to not be going horribly awry just yet... it would be okay. "Then we'll just have to make our own, huh?" He glanced to the other team, shuffling his way forward with just a glimpse at the Fear Reader.
"Here comes the sun," He sang softly, "Doo doo doo doo,
"Here comes the sun, and I say
It's all right," He gave her hand a playful swing beside him.
"Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter," He resisted the urge to sneeze for a moment,
"Little darling, it feels like years since it's been here

Izy said bluntly.
Izy, Syd told him as she kept an eye out for dangerous spots. Leave the poor man alone. I don't think anyone would stay sane in this job for long.
I got a hug, she pointed out. I'm more worried about Sasha than I am about Jerry. Do you think she seems... out of it?
Syd didn't reply, instead she glanced over at Wash and Al, checking to see how they were doing. "Are you two okay? I have bandages if you need healed," she said in a low voice that hopefully carried.

Sasha clutched Jerry's hand, feebly humming along with him. This was going to be fine. She could do this. At least there were no bugs or gaping holes or anything awful like that. Just a lot of very unstable snow.
And the doctor was back at camp, which inexplicably soothed Sasha. It was good to know he was close, just in case things went horribly awry.
"Th-that's a nice song," Sasha mumbled when Jerry'd finished with his little song. "Did you make t-that up?" It seemed colder the further away they traipsed from camp. Sasha's tugged her scarf up closer to her face with her free hand, then went back to plucking flags from her jacket pocket, planting them in the snow as they moved along.

Jerry snorted with a quick laugh, "Aahahaha no, no no no I wish I had though. That's one of the Masters. The Beatles. You don't know that one?" Suddenly, the ground began to shake again, and Jerry gave a yelp, wrapping one arm around Sasha to keep her from falling, the other suddenly filled with a green glow as Roar materialized on his shoulder, "Ah... ah... W-weapons out People!" The Fear Meter was going haywire as it landed in the snow at their feet. "Oh... b-berries." Artifact Search

Aleister sighed as syd ended up guiding them around. There was a frown, obviously he couldn't even do his job. The trainee just pulled up his scarf and he seemed a bit ruffled in his coat.
<If you'd been doing work instead of goofing off and screaming like a little girl all the time maybe you wouldn't be shown up by someone that's not a death hunter.> Pookie added Aleister could almost see the puca rolling his eyes as he said this.
Aleister just scuffed, "Shut up pookie..." He muttered not bothering to answer mentally. He'd had the weapon out to start with, The one good thing about having a weapon on a chain.
When the ground started cracking again and suddenly a tentacle showed up. He squeaked stepping back quickly, before sending Pookie hurling towards the tentacle.
HP: 28/40 (?) (being death he only takes 4 dmg?)
Charge: 1/3

Sasha hadn't yet summoned Nona; when the tentacle burst through the crust of ice and snow, Sasha stood there for a long moment as she stared up at the writhing appendage.
<Sasha. Sasha.>
"Hmmm?"
<Be a good ghoul and summon your Nona, yes?>
"Ohhh. Ah.." Oh, sorry. Of course, Nona.
<That is a good little dove. Now, let us attack? Perhaps after the beast is slain, my little sparrow can go back to holding his man's hand? Hmm? This is nice, yes?>
The weapons voice was a collected, calm coo in the recesses of Sasha's mind. Nona could sense how fragile Sasha seemed to be. Even if she didn't really appreciate Jerry's physique or stuttering or all around... Jerry-ness, she knew that the man had a calming effect on her bonded; right now, that was important to Nona. They could all pull through this as long as she could keep Sasha calm and focused.
When Sasha summoned her weapon, Nona let out a lyrical little purr.
You are so wonderful, Nona. Do you think Jerry would sing a song to me? If he doesn't, will you? It.. it helps.
<He is a fool if he does not, my sweetest ghoul. Now go. Use your Nona. Together we are as one, are we not?>
Sasha's brows furrowed a moment before she swept forth, using Nona's hooks to puncture, to twist, and to pull. The effect was minor, but Sasha was still distracted - that gaping wound, swarming with insects, was still prevalent in her mind.
