The dragon nodded, still comfortably perched on the broad window sill.
"Those who can touch the stars rarely have a reason to stay on the ground."
A smile, though there may have been a trace of sadness in his eyes. On that day when he was at last able to fly into space and reach the stars himself, what would become of his friends? Would they be a reason for him to return, or would he simply fade away from them, lost in the sea of night? Would he lose all touch, would they remember, would he remember, would they only be a memory? Or would he always be with them, even if he reached the very edges of the universe?
He shook his head, no, he would never forget. Those who touched his life, those he cared for, no matter what happened, whether he reached the depths of the universe or stayed neared the ground, they would never truly be lost to him nor he to them.
"There is much about dragons that even I do not know, secrets we are ready to reach the stars ourselves."
Turning, he gazed out the open window to see the school grounds now covered in daylight (such as daylight was in halloween).
"Perhaps we should go outside, it is a beautiful day."
What they would do outside he was not sure. They could take a walk around the grounds, go to town for lunch and perhaps a trip to the maul, or they could simply sit on the roof and enjoy the company of a good friend. It didn't really matter did it? It was a beautiful day, they were alive, and he had a basket of spookies (that may or may not have been nearly empty by now) and a friend to share it with. Yes, yes it was indeed, a beautiful day.
