Madison staggered through and moved off to one side, not really feeling the cold - not yet. Mostly she just felt sick, even though her stomach had nothing in it to empty out any longer. Sick and foul and empty.
"Jordan," she said after a moment, shuffling to her friend. He was holding vigil; she knew, instinctively. "You - you're here." And not back there, hollowed out, home to bugs-
She had to turn away as her stomach heaved again, despite everything.

One moment the air was hot, stifling and putrid. The next moment Sasha could actually breathe - though it took a few deep exhalations to clear the scent of hot sand and the faint buzz of insects and rotting --
No. Now the air was cold and crisp and clean; there was Clarice, a familiar face. There were tents. There were ... penguins. The stark white of the snow underfoot was almost soothing in its purity.
Food sounded good but rest sounded better. Sasha took a blanket that was given to her in passing, wobbling in place as she blearily peered around.

"Yeah," Jordan answered. "I'm here." He put a tentative arm around Madison's shoulders, for support as much as comfort, for himself as well.

Madison sighed and slumped under the weight of his arms, leaning against him for a brief moment. "Thanks," she said, giving him a wry look. One of Kouki's blades was still clenched in one fist, and she slowly loosened her fingers and sheathed the sword before shaking out her hand. "I... glad to see you, that's all. Jer- there he is, good," she said fervently.
She swallowed again. "I hate... bugs. And freaks. And everything other than everyone here."

Jerry didn't know who he was sitting by when he sat, heavily, Roar still summoned so he had something to lean against. Faces were blurry, his head was foggy, his jacket now wet with melted snow and sand. His hands were shaking as he tried to juggle his weapon and his under shirt, but rubbing at the lenses only seemed to scratch them further. They were a mess. He wondered if they should have paced more changes of clothes... the image of everyone with suitcase brought a weak bout of giggling up in his throat.
He settled for being blind and cold and damp. The world was an odd place.

Cass nodded to Wilson when he pipped up in her direction, clutching the blanket around her shoulders and pulling it further around her, a frown on her face.
"I... I think I will, just to make sure I'm alright..." Physically. The word wasn't spoken, but it hung in an almost obvious fashion, passing a look over to Aleister and an awkward smile. "I'm..I'm alright...but man..... I'm going to need drugs to knock me out without dreams for a while, I think." she laughed awkwardly.

Ami came through the portal with a sour expression on her face. On one hand, they'd saved Julie from that horrible fate. On the other, Allan had all but annihilated her, and they didn't know his current position. Plus they lost the sahara base, AND a wonderful moon assistant (though that was debatable).
Overall, Ami wasn't feel very peachy keen and talkative, but she would try, because Wilson was trying. She was learning things from Wilson about how to make friends, though thus far it wasn't even working for her. She would try.
< Ami, it's okay. Allan'll make it back. >
I don't care about Allan. He's not MY division leader, she lied. Of course Ami cared about the loss of a life, but she just wanted to numb herself to all of these events. That's how it worked. Something horrible occured, and then you numbed yourself to it.
< You know I'm in your head right, I can hear what you're thinking- >
I know. I know Jumpy. For once, Junpei didn't correct her.
Ami walked over to the small group around Wilson, trying not to mind how many people there were. She put a hand on Wilson's arm and squeezed lightly. "C'mon, let's get you to the infirmary," she muttered. What she really should've said was, "I'm bloody and tired and actually really need your help bandaging myself up," but then, Ami was always a little stubborn when it came to taking care of herself. Others first.

Attack after attack fell upon juile as Leon watched horrifically as the she.... the body......IT, refused to cry out or even acknowledge the blows. nothing, nothing swirled in those glassy orbs. It was downright frightening. She should have been dead he figured, staring at the gaping hole she donned and the amount of invertebrate that thrived in the hollowed out form. But much to Deryk's admittance, the weapon stayed active, unmoving, but still present.
The beauty of having a physician as a father was the knowledge he imparted about how the body worked. The lack of major organs should have resulted in massive hemorrhaging and going into shock and the shutdown of all major systems. Did the insects serve as some type of life support, capable of supplementing a hearts function?
He didn't know, if only there was a way to take her in, or even check for a heartbeat. but it was foolish to even try, more so with Allan's overdue rescue, and the bugs aggression to its foiled plans. Thank gods for portal creating superiors and the boxer could care less where it led to, as long as it wasn't a even more dire situation.
The portal reached its endpoint and the sweat that was drenching his clothes from the arid froze and chilled the boxer, from extreme heat, to the bitter cold. Leon began to shiver upon arrival, his teeth chattering madly from the frigid air. Still, one step had to be taken in front of the other as he trudged his way away from the portal, away from the comrade they couldn't save, and the other that still remained. "Allan, you'd better not die in there." he mumbled quietly as the adrenaline wore off.
And the hunter dropped to the soft powdery mound of snow at his feet.
He was mentally and physically spent.
The penguins squeaked and tilted their heads curiously at the creature that tried to slide on his stomach like they did. He was clearly doing it wrong in their little coal like eyes.

Huddled under her blanket, Sasha was trying to motivate herself to keep moving; there were cots waiting, and Sasha was in dire need of some rest and relaxation. Exhaustion made her eyes feel gritty; the fine coating of sand that covered her probably wasn't helping either.
Catching sight of Jerry and Sydney, Sasha felt a little better. When Jerry planted himself next to her, Sasha reached out to tug on a bit of his hair.
"Hey, Jerry.. how are..."
A jaw-cracking yawn interrupted whatever else she had planned on saying.
"Hnng. How are you.. holding up?"

He groaned, head lolling before blinking at her through his ruined lenses, "Oh... S-sasha... I'm... I'm alright. Relatively speaking, ahahahaha." He shifted, wetting his lips, "A.... a bit exhausted. Um. You alright?" Don't talk about what they had just seen. Just mission as usual. Everything and everyone was fine. Maybe it would be dinner soon. When was the last time he ate or drank? It felt like days.

He had run through the portal without hesitating another second, grabbing Eva's wrist in his fingers and pulling her with him. It was selfish of him, perhaps, to not ask before he had dragged her along, but he had not thought for a second of entering the portal without knowing she was safe first.
So he had simply started running. And he had not looked back.
It's starting again.
The blackness grows inside my heart. The pain. The frustration.
I could have done more.
No I couldn't have.
I could have been better.
No I couldn't have.
His head ached, along with the rest of his body, which was bruised and battered. He probably shouldn't have had the strength to keep going like he was, but adrenaline and despair had shot through his body simultaneously, giving him the needed boost to run towards the portal, disappearing into it with his fingers still wrapped around Eva's wrist.
His only other thought, besides Eva's safety and Julie's death, was, when they arrived on the other side, that they were no longer in the Sahara. They left the hot sand and blistering heat and deathly insects behind, and here it was cold and white and bright.
Gale skidded to a stop, gasping for breath , his face pale. He turned to Eva.
"You...are you...okay?" he muttered, just before his legs gave away and he staggered uneasily, collapsing to his knees on the ground with his head spinning.

Aleister squeaked as he wobbled a bit when Rep looked around frantically. "Ack," He was trying to keep his balance, but he wasn't really sure what to say to Rep, "What're you looking for?" He asked when he managed to keep from falling.
"Yeah." He answered, Wilson giving a nod.
"I'm glad you're okay." He said as he shifted, "I know that feeling." He gave a nod, "I'm going to get Rep to the infirmary." He added.

"Yeah. You too." Jordan watched the portal. "I just want to be sure everyone makes it out." He sounded tired.
"I hate bugs," he agreed, his whole body going taut for a brief moment before he forced himself to relax again.

"Yeah. Good idea - yeah. Company?" she said, squaring her shoulders and visibly steeling herself as she fixed her gaze on the portal. If a single bug - even an ant - came through that thing, she was going to give it such a squishing.

"Friends." he stated matter of factly as he finally spotted Jordan in the group with a look of relief.
He managed somehow to gather himself up, haul together his self control and pride enough to lean off of poor Aleister, standing on his own. It was a mere ruse, but one that did enough. He could pretend he was fine. He just had to do so long enough to get to the infirmary.
The fact he was steady enough to make a snide comment at least boded well for him making it.
"I'm fine." He wasn't but he needed to do this last bit on his own. He needed not to be the baggage he'd felt like so far on this mission.
He wobbly tottered off in the direction of the tent.
