"Well...I guess maybe I'm the one holding myself back." Tempest gave a gentle whicker as she delved deep into thought at Ka's words. Maybe he was right about her independence and how she could easily take on anything. She had her father's pride and her mother's strength about her. Why couldn't she take on the world? She snapped out of her thoughts as Ka continued his conversation. "Well I'm sure Mom would love the audience. She's really good when she has people watching. And Dad could prove to be a pretty good sparring partner if you needed it." Dark Tempest gave a bit of a sneeze as she looked toward the sky, nostrils flaring as she felt more of the sun against her pelt. "You think the rain has stopped by now?"

"I think it has, now its just the tree dripping on us." Ka walked out from under the overhanging bows. "It has stopped raining, you are right." He puffed up and kicked out his heels a bit. Rain was a good thing but the end of a downpour was always cause for celebration....unless there was a drought then there was cause to celebrate rain...pfft weather what a fickle beast it was. "Where do your family live? I'm sure they can't be too far away. Perhaps you know of a landmark or something."

The mare gave a grunt quickly moving back from his way. She too stepped out into the sun giving a bit of a sigh. The smell of rain with the mix of the feel of the sun on her body made it feel all the more comfortable. She shook her neck a little feeling her hair brush against her back, shoulders, neck, and face. Tempest gave a small snort tilting her ears in the direction of his voice. "Usually I can smell my way home but with the rain, it kind of defeats the whole purpose. And landmarks are usually for those that can see." Tempest gave a bit of a snort feeling slightly pessimistic. Talking about her sight always did that to her psyche. "But that was a bit of a good idea..." Tempest started forward unaware of her direction or if she was going to bump into anything, her head was a bit too full of distractions.

"Well obviously your family talks about landmarks even if you yourself can't see them. For example have they ever mentioned a bute, or prominent tree or body of water?" He looked at her wryly evidently he had said something to get her in a mood. He wished he knew exactly what had triggered it, he didn't want to make her angry at all. He just wanted to get her home and away from that diety forsaken tree.
Well at least a bunch of the flowers would be blooming after the rain as the insects mobilized on their pollination routes. Sweet clover was always better when it bloomed.... KA! pay attention! Stop thinking about food!

"You're...right, Ka. I'm sorry. In the middle of my father's lands there is a large tree where the foals and all the blankets of past foals are gathered. A few yards away is borderline to the trees where my parents like to spend their time together. There's also a large hill where the tree can be seen atop so I guess the first thing to start searching for is high ground?" Tempest tilted her head flicking her ears toward the direction of Ka Valko. Her nostrils flared a little taking in the scent of the air around her. "It smells nice out here at least. I'm sure the flowers will be blooming soon. All this rain is good for the land." The mare stopped for a moment looking over her shoulder staring at nothing and yet searching. "Are you coming, Ka?"

"Yes of course I am coming," he smiled and let it show in his voice. "Where else would I go? It seems a pleasant enough trip to help you find your family especially since we are not stuck under the tree anymore. How big is your herd? Perhaps the out scouts will see us before long." He began to hum quietly to himself one of the lilting melodies of his people. It was sweet and nearly haunting but beautiful nonetheless. It brought to mind the stories of his people. He found them comforting in this new land full of new azrein with rainbow eyes. At least he had found some common ground with this mare. She was different too but she didn't let it stop her from things that really needed done. Perhaps he should be more like her and not let his differences define who he was but more let his own personality overtake them. Tempest just couldn't see who she really was because she was too focused on her blindness. Perhaps in a way he was blind too, blind to the life he could live here away from his pack, away from tie stringing and away from the hard social bonds that had constrained him before, he could be himself.

"Haha. I'm glad you're here Ka Valko...It makes me feel better to know that I can rely on someone." Her tail flicked behind her as she strode forward slowly, ears flicking to catch his gentle footfalls and booming voice. "I am sure my brother or one of my cousins will be scouting. They are probably starting to pan out to look for me. We might run into them." Tempest gave him a bit of a warning knowing that the hot headed males in her family sometimes shot first and asked questions later. She only hoped that they wouldn't be too particularly worried about her with this male.
Tempest's ears flicked toward him as he started to hum a melody of such feeling. She wondered where on earth Ka had come from that made him want to leave home so. He sounded like such a strong, authoritative male and he felt...warm and secure. Anyone would do good to have him around, and yet she felt as if he didn't want to have anyone around. Maybe there was something more to Ka Valko that she didn't see yet. Slowly, she began to hum along with him having listened to the melody for quite some time. It was a little difficult at first, but she tried to hang on to what his tune sounded like. Her ears often flicked to catch whatever she could hoping it was right.

Ka was surprised she could follow the song so well. Then again she depended on her ears more so then others so he shouldn't be so surprised she was so talented with them. She had quite the singing voice too, very soothing and beautiful. "Your family wont clobber me will they? Im not used to too much contact and may have to fight back." Ka eyed the horizon for dark stallions. What he wasn't expecting was the Orange one that was barreling right at them. The newcomer sniffed over Tempest then turned on him teeth bared and already half into a rear. "Oy! You! What did you do with my sister? Try to steal her from us? ARGGH!" The orange banshee screamed. Ka pinned his ears back and puffed up a bit prancing. "I did nothing of the sort!"
This came...too late, the orange was already in the air and Ka rose to meet him.

Tempest gave a snort at his question, her ears flicking. "Oh no. I seriously dou--" the mare was quickly cut by the familiar sound of hooves. Her nostrils flared taking in the scent of her twin brother, Kai Darksun. Her eyes widened a little feeling him so close to her as if checking her over. Before she could even answer him, Kai began to verbally attack Ka which made it all the more stressing. Her nostrils flared as she gave a grunt listening to the sound of colliding skin. "Stop! Both of you cut it out! Kai I am okay! Ka don't hurt him!" Tempest felt very much inhibited as she tried to listen to their footfalls and attacks. If she could get their rhythm down, she'd jump over and attempt to break them up.

"Listen to your sister you fruit. I didn't hurt her. Not at all. I was trying to help. Ugh your unsensitive." Ka hissed out between flashing hooves and teeth.
"UNSENSITIVE?!" Kai screamed.
"YES UNSENSITIVE! Now cut this out." Ka backed up some. and flicked his ears forward. Slowly coming down of his hind legs. "You were saying about fiery siblings and cousins Tempest?"
Kai went to all fours and well and flicked his tail. Like nothing had happened.
"Your family does breed warriors, if rash ones." Ka teased.

Tempest trotted out and forward poking her nose out and waving it back and forth to feel for anything. She ran into the frame of her brother recognizing his scent and long head of mane. The mare came up beside him and reached out for Ka on the verge of angry tears as she stopped in between them. "The both of you are so stupid! Why couldn't you have asked who he was, Kai?!" Tempest shook with fear and anger half afraid that both of the males got hurt. She understood that her brother was a part of it, but why would she feel bad about Ka Valko? The two had just met so why did his safety matter so much to her? "You're so stupid! The both of you! Just go and tear each other apart then!"
The tears ran down her cheeks as she shook her head wildly. Feeling familiar territory she kept running straight forward toward the large tree and home. Boys were so stupid! And she was even dumber for bringing a male home. Tempest gave a gentle grunt as she came to a slow coming up the hill. A few more steps forward and she was right beside the tree. The female settled down tucking her legs underneath her as she laid down next to the old sylvan, her eyes closing as she took in the gentle smell of the bark. Her blanket was in there like everyone else's and it calmed her to know that this was a sanctuary. What was wrong with her?

"Tempest my daughter what is wrong? What did Kai do now?" Tide came around the trunk to see his only daughter tucked up tight against the tree. He leaned his head down. "Tempest? I'm sure your brother...didn't really mean whatever he said. Mostly."Kai looked over to Ka. "Look what you did now you oaf. Did you enchant my sister into running off with you? Who are you anyway. You look...odd. Not from around here. From the far East I would think.""What I did? All I did was bring her home after she bumped into me under a tree in the storm. I did no enchanting. I am Ka Valko... of the Eastern Packs, now I am a Lone. I simply wanted your sister to be safe and back with her family. She is a sweet strong mare, but she does not know it yet."

The mare still jumped at her father's strong voice. As much as she was an adult, she still felt the part of the filly each and every time he came around. Her father meant strength, compassion, sternness, and humor all in one package. She lifted her head to let her nose bump against his as she sniffled. "I got lost...and a male brought me home. He helped me get home, Dad, and Kai just started attacking him. I was afraid that they were going to get hurt!" Tempest gave a bit of a sneeze as she looked down, her mass of a mane hanging around her face. "He's not bad, Daddy. His name is Ka Valko and he's really nice...I wouldn't have been able to get home without him.."
"The eff is going on around here?" A fiery voice called out to the two males arguing. An orange mass trotted forward forcing her way roughly between the two. Red eyes glared over at her son and then at the stranger as Kainda gave a grunt. "So any particular reason as to why my daughter is at the tree crying? Did you do something again, Kai Darksun? I swear by your father's ancestors, I will beat you." Kainda was extremely protective of her two children, especially her daughter, but that didn't mean the two didn't need knocking around a few times.. The mare eyed Ka carefully flaring her nostrils. "You're not from around here...obviously from the far East..." There was an obvious resemblance in mother-son as she stood next to her twin boy, ears perked forward in earnest. "Ka who is this male, why is he here, and does he have something to do with my precious baby crying?" Now it was the stranger's turn to feel the wrath of Mother Dearest.

Seeing his daughter all crumpled in almost brought tears to her father's eyes. He puffed out a sigh and settled beside her. Their Dark coats meshing together so they looked like conjoined shadows. "Well my dear although you are under emotional duress and sometimes it is good to hide for that reason, I am here now and thus you have no reason not to speak your mind to the males. Shall we go down their once you feel calmer and more secure? I think I hear your mother in one of her more colorful rages and you know I do so ever like to watch them." Tide grinned a bit devilishly.
"She is crying?" Ka asked, distressed. "I should go to her." He turned as if to do so, but Kai got in his way.
"Not until Mother has taken your measure."Kai said. "Mother this male invaded our territory and had Tempest in tow. I suspected foul play."
"There was no play and certainly no fowl." Ka said looking offended. He was not accustomed to the jargon of the West. Why would birds have anything to do with this?

Tempest immediately widened her eyes. "Oh no...Mother!" Immediately the mare jumped up to her hooves and listened for the elder mare's voice. She found it easily and quickly trotted forward not even waiting on her father to catch up. As the voices grew louder, she shook her head a little snorting. "Mother! Don't listen to Kai. He simply brought me home."
Kainda tilted her head carefully taking in her son's words. However the stranger's comment made her choke back a laugh. He was indeed a strange one. Her nostrils flared as she tried to remain a stoic, protective mother until the daughter in question came about. She looked over her shoulder at Tempest giving a bit of a grunt. "Daughter, we were worried. But...I suppose this male taking you home was a nice thing..." Her nostrils flared as she snorted looking over her shoulder to see her mate. "But we will see what your father thinks."
