"Ah, yes." Star gave Faleen a nod, eyebrow twitching faintly as Hayes reintroduced him by his first name. "I go by Star." The comment, though polite, was clearly meant more for Hayes than Faleen. He kept his eyes on the female Agent and offered a slight bow, "A pleasure, once again."

Faleen stood, and waited through the introduction, in a display of modeled professionalism and formality within this situation.
She glanced from Hayes to Star and back as the Elite spoke.
completely disregarding the fact that there might have been a slight pink to her cheeks.

"Star," Faleen's hazel eyes drew over to the tall man, and returned his bow with a polite nod, and a gentle smile "Its good to see you again, you look well."

She turned back to Hayes when he asked her about the specs, this caused the corners of her lips to twitch, and she shook her head.
"Regrettably not, Sir." she replied nodding her head toward the screen. "Its all as much gibberish now as it was before."

"-sorry, Star-" Hayes corrected absently; he had his eyes on the agent for most of the introduction. When she delivered the bad news about the plans, the elite followed her gaze toward the screen. After a second he tilted his head a bit to the left.

Nope. Still looked like a child's drawing of a fruitcake in a shopping cart.

"Yeah. This is way beyond me," he concluded with a regretful smile, then turned to Star. "Want to give it a shot?"

Star arched an eyebrow and smirked. Whatever their problem, he was sure he could figure it out. "Of course." He leaned closer to examine the screen, "What is it, some sort of......" His voice drifted silent as he stared at the drawings. A moment passed, then he recoiled, like the image might be dangerous. "Where did you get that??"

"You know what it is?" Hayes asked, raising a brow at the man's apparent fear of crayons.

Star tensed and turned a glare on Hayes, "Of course I know what it is. I spent the last ten years decrypting that man's ridiculous doodles into workable schematics. I'd recognize his infantile scrawling anywhere. Why do you even have that? You should throw it away, it's not worth the effort of whatever poor sap you've got trying to figure it out."

Hayes blinked in the face of Star's sudden ire, blithely unruffled. "So you can get it done up in CAD by the end of the week?"

Star stared at Hayes. He looked at Faleen, then the screen, then Hayes again. "No.. no no." He shook his head, "No you don't understand, I just left Team Galactic to get away from that." He jabbed a long finger at the offending doodles.

"You wanted a project," Hayes reasoned, "and it sounds like you're the only one who can figure this out. I know I said to wait on the responsibility, but I'd call this a special case."

Faleen watched between the two men as they talked, Star clearly protesting having any involvement in this project, while it was passed down to him... from her own complete failure to comprehend.
Her lips tightened a little at this thought.

But she stood by, leveling her gaze on Star after it seemed that he wasn't going to have a choice in getting out of this.
"Star, Rocket has a rare opportunity here, with Deimos in hand, and you yourself on our side, we're as close as we've ever been to learning something."

She looked at Hayes. "I would like to submit a request that I remain in this project as well."
Having Star work on something alone at this point in time sounded like a terrible idea.
The Galactic boss' mind has been a source of stress and embarrassment for Faleen, if Star really could provide any insight, she wanted to know.

"No!" Star's voice had gone strangely high pitched. "No, I came here to work on my own projects! Not to keep translating the idiot genius of Julian Todd!!" He seemed to realize he was screaming and winced, trying to reign himself in. Good impression, he was supposed to be making a good impression. "Please." He brought the volume down and looked at Hayes, teetering on the edge of another tantrum, "I'm a designer. I should be designing things. I would be wasted on a project like this."

"Go for it," the elite nodded, his lines of thought falling parallel to Faleen's. He winced faintly as Star's unique voice bounced off the nearby reflective surfaces and made Rockets look up from their projects - or in the case of one testing a motor, at his project.

"I'm gonna disagree," he replied and twitched his glasses back into place. "From the department's point of view this is perfect; Lucere wants those designs decoded and you've got years of experience doing exactly that." And doing it well, he had to assume, given the number of Galactic devices they'd encountered. "The kind of tasks you're asking for aren't done at the grunt level - most people end up assembling servos and wiring circuits until they make it to agent. I'd rather not explain to the boss why the most qualified guy for the job is off doing something any freshly promoted recruit could do, so I'm putting my foot down here." It was all said with a mild smile but a definite tone, despite however he might sympathize with Star's desire. "You're still on an important project from day one."

Faleen stared at the rather emotional outburst from the tall thin man, though was coming to see that he seemed rather prone to these.
The agent just watched in silence, as the Elite of the department handled it, and explained to Star how things worked here.

Faleen watched the grunt carefully, a growing concern over how easily reactive of a person he was. and remembering what happened to the last team he worked for. More importantly, what happened to the robots on that team.

"But.. but..." Star sputtered desperately, looking like he'd just taken a considerable blow. Somehow his desire to impress Hayes managed to reboot and, wincing, he straightened back up. "I- ...yes sir."

To say he sounded unhappy was an unparalleled understatement.

"Great!" the blond grinned, then snapped his fingers. "That reminds me; dress code. Regulations say we have to be in full uniform at all times on duty but that's not always the best option around here. I'd rather you be safe and comfortable than up to code, but you never know when an exec or Lucere might decide to visit so make sure to wear something that lets you do a quick change. Maybe wear the grunt uniform under the coat and whip it off if someone yells heads up. Did your keycard get sorted out yet?"
