This ... looked harder than Siddie had expected. The Horsemen had knocked Shehk down with ease, and even Riley, and Riley was one of the toughest ghouls Siddie knew. Still, she was here to learn. To get stronger.
"I guess it might not be so bad to dress like that," she admitted. Her layers simply weren't suited for a place like this; she was far too warm. She peeked up at Sammy thoughtfully. "It would suit you," she decided.

Riley jogged back to the front of the stadium, only to double back when she realized Shehk was looking pretty roughed up. She looked no better, physically, but somehow she still had that odd new spring in her step that gave her the adrenaline and sheer joy to keep moving. So she moved to help Shehk, letting the ghoul lean on her for support as she walked back to a waiting Siddie and Sammy. You guys have got to try this. Riley breathed out, one eye just slightly puffier than the other. It's wonderful.

Shehk leaned on Riley, grinning. "It is wonderful.." she wheezed, still somewhat winded from the second strike to her gut. "But man, these guys are tough! I'm gonna have to up my game or they'll all wipe the floor with me." she laughed, trying to not sound bothered by that, but...
It was obvious Shehk didn't like the idea that five people had just taken her down completely and utterly.

Siddie giggled at Riley and Shehk's continued enthusiasm, even after their defeats. "Okay, I"ll give it a try."
She shrugged off the hooded vest - too hot, really -and approached the trainer. The woman gave her tidy, fancy outfit a disdainful look, but handed her a staff anyway, gesturing her towards one of the rings with a flick of her fingers.
The horseman ghoul who waited there started laughing as soon as Siddie stepped into the ring. Siddie gritted her teeth and scooted forward to sweep her staff in a wide arc, knocking the young horseman's legs out from under her and then pressing the end of the staff into the ghoul's chest.
That would show them that Siddie was serious about this. Hmph.

"Eh, doesn't suit you. Though paint on black might be fun?" She grinned, before wincing as she watched Riley and Shehk being put down a few more times. "Dun know how the paint would settle with me though. But I already run around in sports bras anyway."
Patting Siddie on the shoulder she moved to tilt her head at Riley, "You might wana put something on that eye. Mal's going to fuss for days over every little scratch you know that?"
She moved next to Shehk ruffling her hair and offering a short scratch behind the ear. "Well I guess that leaves me and Siddie so I'll take the reins now aight?"
With that she moved into the sparring area slipping her bare foot under a laying staff kicking it up to her hands. "So who wants to fight a little ghoul from Halloween?"
From among the crowd one lone female stood up wearing a cloak of fur, feathers strung around her body with her own staff. Sammy wanted a fight... well she was gona get it.
Just before the fight she nodded to Siddie before stepping forward staff in both hands. The War girl wasted no time moving in towards Sammy. Her staff swung down high but Sammy was ready spreading her hands and catching the blow in the middle of her staff. It didn't stop though a foot snapped out and she jumped back. The ghoul of War was a flurry of blows each one knocked aside. Then it happened. One blow was off and sammy slapped it aside stomping forward jabbing over and over with her staff till the warrior yeilded.
"You fight fast for a corpse." She grunted as Sammy offered a black bone hand to help her up.
"I pride myself on that ma'am."

The same Horsemen stood again dusting her shoulder off proper, "Again Corpse?"
Sammy simply shrugged, "If you insist." She raised the staff again but the horsemen barely waited. Her staff came in fast. Fast as before and Sammy blocked but what hit? It was hard.
Sammy fell backwards into the dirt rolling and the horsewomen did not stop. Her next blow knocked the stick clear from Sammy's hands, the end was leveled to her throat where she stood and Sammy only held up her hands. "Yeild."
The horsewomen chuckled, "Corpse is fast, maybe strong, but not enough."
Slowly Sammy would make her way back shrugging half heartedly, "I guess I um... got cocky..." she rubbed her throat gently, had that hit she would probably have had a crushed windpipe to whisper out of for a few days.

The second horseman who stepped up eyed Siddie much more warily. The leg sweep trick wouldn't work on her, Siddie didn't doubt that. She moved cautiously in, readying a swing -
- and found herself on the floor, flat on her back, head spinning and side aching. She didn't know exactly what had happened, but it was quite clear that she had a long way to go if she wanted to measure up.

Canon peeked out from behind her screen of branches, watching as the tall Purple One sparred with several opponents. She gave almost as good as she got, but she did leagues better than her one dog ghoul companion. Canon hadn't even intended to compare the two, but found herself rooting for the Purple One nevertheless as their sessions commenced.
The arrival of more ghouls flushed the diminutive ghoul from her hiding space. Canon oh so casually walked stiff legged onto the stadium floor, and spent the next several minutes trying to get closer to the Purple One without looking like she was trying to do so. The sparring matches made for an excellent cover activity. Actually... the sparring looked like a lot of fun. Sneaking a quick glance at the Purple One to make sure she wasn't going anywhere, Canon skipped over to the weapons rack, and picked up a small staff. Just her size!
Now, she thought, eye wide with anticipation. Who's first?

The first boil Canon walked up to didn't so much as glance at her, his attention focused on the ongoing fights.
"Hi! My name is Canon!" Canon offered her learned greeting brightly. She received the briefest of looks, and was just as quickly dismissed. Part of Canon could understand his attitude, she must not look like much of an opponent. However, no warrior should underestimate his or her opponent.
So, Canon thought she'd greet him as Skarks greet one another. She whirled, tail providing centrifugal force, as she spun the staff for a blow to his face... and froze just short of hitting him.
To his credit, he did not flinch. He looked at her slowly, and Canon thought she might have seen just a hint of a smile, as he picked up his own staff and nodded at her.
The both of them leaped into action, staffs whirling fast enough to create a light breeze. He was skilled, Canon was pleased to note, and he had the better reach. But as the minutes ticked by, she noticed he had a tendency to leave himself open right after he lunged. Right... NOW!
Canon darted to the side, bringing up her staff lightning quick, and once again halted it just before it hit him in the face. The horseman backed away, and signaled that he yielded. Canon beamed.
"Well met!"

Canon was all smiles as she approached her second opponent. This one, a young ghoul with a wild mane of hair the same color as her wings. This time, her opponent greeted her, spear zipping through the air to hover before Canon's eye. Canon returned the gesture, and the bout began.
However, the horsewoman's defense was full of holes. Canon felt disappointed when she managed to knock her of her feet, and rest her staff against the horsewoman's neck.
They were still underestimating her. Canon was still hopeful though, as she looked around for her next sparring partner.

It seemed that her winning streak had finally drawn the attention of one of the stronger horsemen in the stadium. Canon found herself looking up, and up, and up at a tall horseman who solemnly greeted her, and fluidly fell into an attacking stance. Overjoyed to be fighting against a formidable looking opponent, Canon eagerly returned the greeting, and took her own stance.
Mere seconds into the match, Canon could tell she was vastly outmatched. She managed to stand her ground for just a few minutes until he'd knocked her staff aside and laid it against her throat. Canon yielded, breathing holes along her clavicle flared wide to catch her breath.
"Thank you, and well met." she said, bowing respectfully to the horseman. He nodded gravely and walked away. Canon couldn't help but have a fanghoul moment over fighting such a strong opponent! This was why she'd chosen War!

Canon's elation was short-lived, however. The next opponent she challenged hardly put up any fight at all. Nevertheless, she remained polite and thanked the horseman for the fight after he'd picked himself off the platform.

Even Canon's considerable enthusiasm was beginning to bend beneath the burn of well-worked muscles. There was one round left, however, and Canon was determined to put her all into it.
Her last opponent was very polite, swinging her wooden sword overhanded to freeze just before giving Canon the worst headache possible. Canon thrust her staff towards the horsewoman's middle, stopping the strike just before impact.
Greeting concluded, they fell to it, wood clacking against wood. They were both somewhat tired, so the blows lacked the ferocity of the earlier matches. The horsewoman was testing Canon just as much as Canon was testing her. She very nearly got her, too! Canon was able to narrowly avoid the finishing move by use her tail as extra leverage.
Finally, Canon slipped inside the horsewoman's defenses and thrust her staff upward. She was tired enough that she didn't stop the staff quite quickly enough and ended up clipping the horsewoman's chin. She stumbled back, but took the blow with good grace. Canon bowed her thanks, and happily returned her staff to the storage rack.

That was fun! Canon was grinning like a loon as she scurried towards the exit. She nearly made it, too, when she remembered why she'd come in the first place.
The Purple One.
Stalk mode activated! Canon ran back and dived behind the weapon rack, red eye peering out through a gap at the group of ghouls. Had they seen her fighting? Had she seen Canon fighting? Canon squinted, trying to read the expression on the Purple One's face.

After Riley settled Shehk down comfortably, she watched Siddie and Sammy take their turns. She couldn't help but get overly excited as she internally cheered them on, but outwardly remained the picture of stoic pride. Her bandages had started to wear and darken, leaving patches of shadow on her tentacles, but she couldn't bother to notice. All she knew was that her friends were enjoying this exercise as much as she was. This was what Amityville should be like. Perhaps her choices weren't as limited as she'd thought.
Perhaps, instead of moving here..
She reached up and touched her eye, still angrily puffy, and her expression lifted in content.
There was another student, a ghoul from another school, that seemed intent on sparring as many willing opponents as possible. But what caught Riley's attention was not her determination, but her achievement. She was smoking the horsemen. That young ghoul had just shown every one of them up, and done it with no pompous arrogance. She just looked excited to have the chance to play as well.
As Canon scurried away, Riley's gaze followed her. She had no idea the ghoul had been watching her before, but when she passed, it was clear she now held the mindflayers attention. As Canon turned to look at her, Riley's head tilted down, just slightly, in an impressed nod.
Very nice. She murmured quietly into the young ghoul's mind. Very nice, indeed.
