A Wandering Esper

Beloved Stargazer

A bath would do him a lot of good, that was for sure. At least short hair meant there was less greenry clinging to it.

"Through it will not be hot for much longer if we do not hurry, hm ?" Was his amused comment.

User Image"I had an amusing conversation with Echo before we left." Cosine curled a strand of white hair around her finger as she spoke. It was a while later, post bath, the pair were curled up on her bed looking up at the stars through the glass roof above. A gentle breeze stirred the gauzey curtains that separated the room from the terrace outside.
"She asked me if I, or well we maybe, if we were thinking of having children." She gave a nervous little laugh and tilted her head up so she could look at him. The thought of discussing it made her nervous, though she was curious and had been since she and Echo had spoken.

The reveal of what exactly she had talked about with Echo did get a laugh out of him. "That is kind of funny..."

Well, it was ! Certainly it did not take much more than an educated guess to figure out that this probably was the worst idea in the universe.

Well, it was amusing, until he actually did look down to meet her gaze. That laugh did quite quickly quiet down into silence.

Not a joke.

"...Ah..." Yup.

"Silly I know." She rested her head back on his chest and closed her eyes for a moment. She felt a little embarrassed at having brought it up. "Though not such a terrible thought is it?"

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Perhaps the strangest thing, the one thing that surprised even himself when it did occur to him, was that... No, it was not such a terrible thought, in itself.

It was not the idea of it that was unattractive. When Nergal and Echo had children, he had found that he had liked their presence. They were an element of newness in a world of old souls brought back in the present, which was refreshing. Sotiris had always been his favorite, through he certainly would never admit it out loud, through anyone who had caught him and the young Guardian playing could certainly have made an educated guess.

But he had never considered it for himself, was certain that he could not exactly be the best father.

But then, he was not exactly the best lover, and Cosine had never seemed to mind. But that burden...

"It is not." He finally admitted. "But... I would not do to you what Nergal had done to Echo." No one could argue that Echo had not, for the most part, raised her sons and daughter by her lonesome, not even him.

User ImageShe would be a liar if she said that she did not have similar worries. Although she did not mind being alone she did not want him to be so ... inaccessible as Nergal. So absent. Though she also had something Ankou did not have and that was faith. He might not have any in himself but she did.

"You are aware of the fact that you are not him aren't you?" She looked back up at him and smiled warmly. She was sure he forgot that. "I know you have to do your duty but you said yourself that you do not want to become it again? You come and go freely."

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Really, Cosine had no idea just how right she was, in a way. A lot of the things he had remembered made no sense, half feelings and shadow memories.

Nergal had never mentioned anything of it, so perhaps he had not remembered, either.

Perhaps... it was better that way.

"But I could be like that." Really, he should know better than to argue against an intellectual. Cosine could easily bring up counter-points to whatever he said, but... At the same time, perhaps it was the only way he could ever speak of it. "I could be exactly like that, and if I amĀ..."

Then what ? ...He was not exactly sure, either.

"But It depends how you feel about it." He said, simply. He was not even sure how she felt about it. There had to be a reason for her to bring it up, and hopefully it was not only because Echo suffered empty-nest syndrome.

User ImageCosine laughed at his attempt to look on the dark side and traced a non existant pattern on his chest.
"Oh Ankou, you think I would not hunt you down and drag you back by your hair?" She raised an eyebrow and grinned. "The only reason you would be like that would be if you did not want to return to us. Do you think you would feel that way? That you would willfully stay away?"

His next statement amused her too. No, that was notwhat it depended on at all.
"Us, we, not I." she replied. "I think ... it is something I would like. To be a mother, as cliche as it sounds, to have something that represents us."

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show."That sounds painful." Of course, he had not missed the humor in it, through he could very well see her doing that.

Through what she said next did make him think. The ceiling was very interesting to stare at, at this very moment, through he lacked the vacant, half-gone gaze he had showed earlier in the day, so there was no need to worry that he had up and 'gone' again.

He could not imagine not wanting to return to her. This was not something he had ever felt. It was hard to think about it in more detail than that, really, because for now, it was just him and her. He had never lived anything more than that.

"...I do not think I would ever feel like that." Ankou admitted. "Through I..."

"I do not know. I need to think about it."

...Still, it was probably more than she might have expected.
PostPosted: Sun Apr 01, 2012 10:57 am

User ImageNow she moved fully, pushing herself up and twisting a little to look down at him.
Did he really just say that? That he would have to think about whether he would return to her or not. She had never been so offended.

She stared at him for what probably seemed like a few minutes as she tried not to lose her temper.
"Do you ever listen?" She asked, there was a hint of anger in her voice. "Truely? You are still letting your past control you. You decide Ankou. Not some unkown force. You." She tapped her hand on his chest possibly a bit harder than she meant to. Though he was a big god, he could take it. "Have some passion, some fire."

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.....UH ?!

That was not what he...

...Actually, he was not even sure what he had even meant with that. He did not want to say yes or no to the matter of children right away, that he was certain, and really, he had half the mind to just go right now. They were getting nowhere.

Or maybe it was simply the opposite. She was getting somewhere, and he wanted none of it. No, Cosine was right, and he knew it. But, stubborn as he was...

He wanted to be right, no matter how wrong he was.

For a moment he did nothing but stare. Her eyes were like deep green wells - limitless, bottomless. He could have gotten lost in them, if he was not careful enough.

He rose to sit as well, jaw set in a way that was telltale that he was about to argue back, until...

Well. Until he did not, in fact, argue back.

"No. You are right."

There. Had that honestly been so hard ? It was no wonder that he kept doing the same mistakes, if he seemed to be so pre-disposed in doing them, again and again.

"Show me that passion. Show me that fire." This was no taunting. This was perhaps the most serious he had ever been. "They are not things I know. I will learn them."
PostPosted: Sun Apr 01, 2012 12:13 pm

User ImageCosine waited for it, watched him as he sat and kept her eyes steadily on his. She had learned about passion from her host, its many forms. Although she kept herself to herself, with her family she liked to be herself, to let them see her.

When he spoke she was rather surprised. His request was a simple one, yet she knew not easy for him to admit.
"Don't hide." She reached out to place a hand on his chest. "Don't hold back. Not with me, never with me." This wasn't about the question of children any more. It was about the two of them. "Do it now, don't think just do what you feel."

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.It was a strange thing to have to be told, really. Through, he figured one had to talk somewhere.

There was not many ways to take that statement, through, and so he said nothing. Instead, he breached the space in between them and kissed her. Only it was not like any of the other times that he had kissed her before. It was different, deeper.

He took his stubbornness, his fears, and he shoved these feelings away.
PostPosted: Sun Apr 01, 2012 1:16 pm

User ImageCosine smiled as he took her words literally and closed the space between them. She kissed him back with the same energy and wrapped her arms around his neck.

She had waited a long time for him to shed his mask.
