Zurine made her way into the room with a mixture of trepidation and curiosity, although any curiosity she might have had was quickly quelled when she heard the sounds coming from beyond the curtains. Was that a dog? She quivered slightly, hair standing on end and tail twitching as she paused in mid step. Pad feet were not dogs and yet they looked remarkably like one in their natural form - even if she hadn't been an animal lover at heart to begin with that similarity of form would have been enough to bring out some sympathy for whatever poor creature was behind the curtain.
She immediately regretted her choice of class, further investigation of the room surrounding her did not effect a change of heart as she took in the various specimens hanging from the wall in various states of decay. Shuddering slightly she squared her shoulders and went to join her fellow students of the class. It wasn't like she could change her mind now was it?
Although she seriously rethought that idea when their instructor appeared. The sight of him holding the liver of what she could assume was the now dead dog behind the curtain made her stomach roil in an entirely distasteful manner. The vomited bugs were strange..but those she could deal with, when he started to eat the liver she averted her gaze and busied herself studying the nasty smelling jars of what he called ink in front of them. No she was here in this class for better or for worse and she told herself she would do her best...even if she did not like the things around her. Although she did not look at the horseman and his bloody liver as he spoke she made an effort to at least listen to him so that she would know what to do and when he bid them all forward to choose a alchemy set she unerringly went towards the constructive sets. Creating something seemed far more appealing then breaking something to Zurine.
Making her way back to her seat she set up the set according to the instructions and placed the seed in the provided dish - it looked right to her. next she opened up the vials and put the oils in, she had no idea what exactly the oils were but she thought she'd done it right at least.

Did his stone work? Vaith glanced at it suspiciously. There was nothing happening, so he could reasonably conclude .. Actually, Vaith had no basis to conclude anything.
But nothing exploded. Nothing sparkled. Nothing transformed. Based on his Amityville experiences, that was a good thing.

The yelps that began the lesson broke Taryn's heart. That could be her Windham back there, for all they knew; the views of a pet parent had corrupted her. The ghoul steeled herself, deciding that different lands had different societal norms and that it wasn't her place at all to judge these folks. Besides, she was sent here to learn.
She had just learned something.
Friends were offered small smiles, those who had been with her during orientation especially. That was all, though. This was a very important class, not time for socialization. It was, perhaps, an even more important class than the average education at Amityville. How many people had the chance to do this?
At first, the chimera was prepared to begin her notes, but it seemed as if their professor had different ideas. She had made her decision even as most other students moved toward the same set. The ghoul listened to instructions, and then plopped down in her seat to begin melding oils. She took notes as she did, scribbling on her paper in fetid ooze, and held her breath as they began to meld. Yes, yes...!

Really, Taryn had to look around the room to see what was the 'norm' for the deactivated seeds. Her also hadn't exploded... and that seemed to be a good thing. She smiled, scribbling some more notes in a tiny hand and then sitting with her hands folded for further instruction.

Sparrow was very much looking forward to the classes on the Isle of Famine. This was partially due to the fact that he was fascinated by the very culture and quite eager to learn more, but also because he did, in fact, have a great amount of love and respect for simply learning.
Long story short: Sparrow Heartreed was a nerd.
But a happy one as it was.
Unfortunately for Sparrow, upon arriving at the designated meeting space, it was not exactly a pleasant greeting. A heavy, foul odor rose up to meet him, and Sparrow wrinkled his nose automatically, putting a hand over his mouth as he peered cautiously into the classroom. It was filled with all manner of dead things, hanging here, draping there, and Sparrow inched sloooowly in, trying to figure out what exactly they were supposed to be doing with all of these...supplies.
But soon after their instructor arrived and Sparrow took fervent and dedicated notes, a pair of reading glasses perched on the end of his nose. Afterwards he stood beside the tables with his hands on his hips, surveying what lay in front of him, and pushed up the sleeves of his shirt to his elbows, a determined expression on his face.
He picked up the first vial - noxious newt essence - and carefully inspected it, one hand tapping his chin thoughtfully before placing it gently back on the table so as to not break it. A second vial - mixture of batwing blood - he set neatly beside the first.
"Okay," Sparrow murmured to himself, after he had collected his necessary oils all in one place.
"Let's see how this goes..."

Stink! What she came into mind when she stepped in the room. A very complicated smelling which seemed the mixture of all kinds of odour. To avoid the strong smell, she picked a seat near the passage and sat down, hoping the circulation would be better. She looked around and saw no familiar faces, but some interesting faces. " Is that a plague doctor?" Arynek wondered. There were also some boils and ghouls sat down. Arynek took a look at the room too, it was......like a laboratory, just rather inferior. Not waiting long, their "instructor" shown up - Bulbous Rex. The horseman insisted that he was not a teacher. Obviously, this weird horseman loves insects, esp. moths...... Just like she loves cat, everyone has their choice of pets, she will respect their pick. Bulbous gave a brief introduction about what Alchemy was. He kept calling them "grubs", Arynek heard from his muttering. Although the instructor was odd, he did make a clear summary. According to Bulbous, Alchemy can be roughly divided into constructive and destructive. He asked students to choose between creating a ward stone (destructive) or FEAR Reed (constructive) and picked the respective alchemy set. " What should I pick?" Arynek asked herself. As she always want to play an auxiliary role in general, she chose the constructive alchemy set. ================================= {{Constructive, +4 bonus}}

Enzo was sneering as he sauntered his way into the classroom. The place... stank. Horribly. Worse than his little sister's room and her jars and jars of undead perfumes. Most of all, though, was the relief he felt when the flock of moths erupting from their professor's gullet completely failed to swarm him. That was a first in his life. He positively beamed as he straightened in his chair, glancing around to see if anyone noticed or cared how vermin-free he was. No one did. With a sigh, he sagged, and continued to half pay attention to the lesson. Alchemy, eh? Well. That was useful, at least. Humming, he helped himself to the supplies, sauntering back to his desk to give it a go. He set the runestone down, all set for Destruction, waiting for the burner to heat up.... Arynek took a detailed examination of what she got. Some glass-made equipment ("These are probably containers, those are for.....measuring.....em.....this one is for.....stirring?.....") and the unlabeled ingredients, which those in liquid form are put in vials while remaining are in small pouches. The shadow ghoul inspected the ingredients one-by-one, there were some familiar things that she saw in her poison/ antidote crafting training. "Foxglove? Crushed skulls? Dragon's blood?..."
She put the seed she got carefully into the dish and set up the alchemy set according to the "Scroll" suggested.
The shadow ghoul picked a few oils that she felt safe and poured them onto the seed, she watched as the oils fused into the seed in a self-acting manner, or rather said the seed absorbed the oils?........
She waited for a minute, and nothing happened, no explosion, no smoke or sparkles coming out, no change to the seed.....
"Is that normal?" Arynek wondered. Well. At least, the shadow ghoul ensured that the seed is okay. ===============================

Tyshina walked into class or really she pranced in. As she did she headed to the middle of the back of the classroom. There she should and waited until all instructions had been given. "Sounds fun!" she said happily as she headed towards the table to grab her supplies.
As she walked she inhaled whatever she could to try and see just what the teacher was talking of. The only thing was she couldn't understand. the room smelled fine to her, and it actually almost reminded her of home. The smells of the countrysides and foreign places they had visited. Traveling day and day to find new people to entertain. A smile slowly grew on her face as she reached a took her materials in her hand. She grabbed a alchemist set and a blank ward stone. She didn't know why she chose the stone but something about it made her what to take it. Maybe it was the stone reminded her or herself. It was just waiting for the flame to come and turn it into something wonderful.
Once she had everything she needed she quickly headed back to her seat and looked around at everyone else. She had decided to watch others give it a shot first before she did. That and she was looking to see if she knew anyone in the room. she noticed a person she knew from the dorms - Rafael! As much as she wanted to go say hi, she quickly decided against it and instead went forward with completing her task.
It was finally time for her to light up her burner and as she did she waited to see just what might happen. As she did she crossed her right finger and smiled a half smile. She hoped this would work right with all her heart.

Tyshina was a little sad it didn't get hotter than it did. Though it was plenty hot enough she decided with a nod as she waited to see what happened next. Luckily for her, the stone she chose ended up not being a dud! Her face lit up with excitement as she waited to see just what there orders would be next.
"Thank you stone...." she whispered quietly with a tiny smile, "I knew you could do it...." With that she said nothing more and just sat in her seat quietly. If all classes were like this it might actually turn out to be a tiny bit fun. Though who would have ever thought classwork could be fun .... ever!
Result: Destructive - Not a dud.

Shenny was really hesitating what amazed her more: the introduction they were just given, or the image of their instructor. To tell the truth, she hadn't had a good knowledge of Alchemy before, but never in her dreams she could imagine it would be something like this. That was one of the reasons Shenny signed up for Alchemy, in the first place: comparing to other classes, this one sounded like a complete Terra Incognita, and probably the best way to learn something really new. However, when Bulbous was explaining, it all didn't sound difficult, but vice versa: the basics seemed to be quite logical and easy to get. Of course, there were hundreds of details, like the ingredients that were actually quite scary, but at least the basic laws of Alchemy made their way to Shenny's head.
Shenny looked around. The plague doctor student she noticed before was already crafting something, and generally looked quite certain in what they were doing. Okay... let's try this out. Shenny realized constructive alchemy fascinated her more. Destruction... any type of destruction were more familiar, it was something she could feel without even understanding, but constructing.. that was a real mystery. To give a life.. to actually make something... that sounded interesting.
Shenny picked the constructive set and studied it for a moment. Ingredients weren't labelled and that didn't really help. Few of them, Shenny thought she recognize, but there was always something different from expected: colour, or smell, or consistency. Shenny read everything written on a huge scroll, trying her best to pay attention to the details and cursing herself for not writing down all Bulbous' words.
Shenny took the small skull seed and delicately stored it in the dish. Time to use oils... she hesitated for a moment in asking their instructor about oils, but again, remembered "do not question" rule. Candlejack, pretending she knew what ingredients are and how they work would be stupid, so the ghoul decided to pick them randomly.
