With the quite obvious relaxation on his best friend's part, Cedric felt himself too, start to relax. He hadn't been able to really focus on much else other than finding Idonea and apologizing, so now that he had and everything was getting back to normal, the stallion could think. He was happy she was okay; he was happy she wasn't...well, angry with him. Or at least not as angry with him as she had the right to be. They were friends, and although he felt like he betrayed her, true friendship outlasted everything. Right?
"My father slightly dislikes his family on his own father's side, so I never met any of them. I'm not my father, necessarily...I cannot hold a grudge against someone I do not know because my grandfather made some terrible mistakes. Like you said...family is family." He smiled, thinking fondly of the aunt he just left. She was frazzled and a bit strange, but the most interesting thing he'd ever seen. And she was a step closer to his own grandfather...the stallion he wanted to meet.
It was her reaction to his other comment that confused him. Had she not seen what she meant to him? Could she not notice how he felt? If he couldn't have her, then he couldn't be with anyone she didn't like. He needed her in his life no matter what. Always. "Idonea, you're the only thing in my life that matters. I don't care about those other mares that swoon after me. If I chose a mate, you need to be there. I wouldn't have it any other way."

Her ears gave a small flick. "I need to be there? Do you seriously need me to pick some one out for you?" She looked like she'd been slapped in the muzzle. She found herself glowering at him. "How do you expect me to choose and pick a mare for you? To stand by your side and look over a line of mares for your companion in life and not to be among them? She turned her head aside, unable to meet his eyes and any amusement he might find in her short confession funny.

She didn't seem pleased with him for including her in his life...and why was that? Cedric pondered over his friend's words as each one left her lips, trying to manage the best response possible. He wanted her there because he wanted her there. By his side. No one else but her, and Binky...if she may. He just didn't...know if it was possible to explain it to her.
"Not pick. Just...be there. With me."
But then Idonea's words hit him hard. She said...what? No. Really? What? The stallion blinked hard a few times, staring at his friend who apparently refused to look him in the eyes herself. He...didn't know what to do...should he pretend he didn't hear it? Surely it was too good to be true...
But then again...
"Idonea...I...," he began, almost stutering, "Idonea I want you to be among them. No, wait...I don't want you to be among them, Idonea....I want you to be the only one there. You. And only you. Forever. I just always thought...why me? I'm not good enough for you..."
His voice was barely a whisper, but it didn't matter. She couldn't tell.

It was Binky's turn to step in once more. She had heard Cedric's words, understood them and wasn't about to sit by and let Idonea miss out on lack of hearing. Stalking forward and around the mare, she jabbed her in the knobby knee till her 'pet' looked at her. She then pointed at Cedric and scowled at Idonea. " You block head.. you just missed it.. That boy's pouring his soul out to you trying to win you over for his own."Idonea looked stunned, shock rolled through her and her legs felt suddenly weak with shame. Looking over to Cedric, her eyes held questions. Mostly the ones that asked if Binky's words fell true as she'd seen them. "You were?" She felt oblivious like a stupid foal that had been selfish and stubborn.

He was grinning. Grinning like a full-on idiot and he quite frankly, didn't care. Binky was helping him win her over, and hopefully it would be enough. Hopefully his words would be enough for her. Cedric knew he had done some things and said some things, but none of it mattered did it? He was here now. And he wasn't going anywhere, or as much as he could help it. If she didn't want him to stay, he'd follow her wishes.
The stallion walked closer to the mare and raccoon before him, still grinning like an idiot. His heart raced with each step he took, waiting....just waiting for her to say something else to confirm to him what he had hoped all along. So when she asked him if what Binky said was true, all he could do was smile and nod his head, stopping only inches from her face.
"I want you."

Her eyes widened as she watched his words formed by his mouth. "You.. you mean that?" Her voice was quiet as she asked the question. She hadn't believed that he could feel the same way for her. He'd had his pick of mares and for some reason she couldn't fathom, he was choosing her. "I.." She couldn't find the words to say. She'd pined for him mourned the loss of him when he hadn't returned. Yet here he was.. saying he wanted her. She stretched out her neck and leaned against his neck. "I'd like that."

As she touched him, he felt warmth stretch throughout his entire body. Was this really happening....or was he dreaming? Cedric dared not think the latter, but he couldn't help himself - it was still all too good to be true. The stallion nuzzled her neck softly, smiling at her before turning to face her and talk. This was serious, after all. There were no more games being played. The two of them were entering what could be extremely dangerous territory and had to make sure it was what they both wanted. Cedric had no doubt it would work, and that it would last forever...but one needed to be careful.
"You would? Idonea, I know...I know I'm not much, honestly...I'm a decent sort, but I promise you, I'll do whatever it takes to protect you for the rest of our lives. My grandfather made mistakes with the mares he's been with and I vow never to hurt you again, and if I do then I shall be punished. Idonea, from this day forward, I, Cedric, will love you with my very soul."
There, the word 'love' was said, something his father warned him to be very careful using. But it didn't quite matter anymore, how delicate that subject was because he DID love her, and wanted to spend forever with her. Now only, if she'd have him.

She watched his mouth form the words and sentences. A warmth rushed through to her very core as he said he'd love her now and always. A smile spread upon her maw. "I think if you hurt me you very well might be punished." She teased, though she knew her father surely and possibly her uncle too would likely throttle Cedric for bringing harm to her. "Though I don't see that happening." She nuzzled his cheek as she stood almost towering over him with her height. "Besides.. I wouldn't let any harm come to you."((To lazy to bold >.<))

"But I am supposed to do the protecting, right? After all, I am the male." He gave her a halfway grin, as the statement and question were kind of funny, standing next to a mare who was taller than he. Cedric had no doubt that Idonea could hold her own, but even still, he didn't want to put her in a situation like that. If it meant training and learning how to fight, he'd do it to protect her. No one....not a single Soquili would ever lay a hoof on this beautiful mare for as long as he lived.
"And who, may I ask would do the punishing? Because if I were to be punished by you, I surely wouldn't complain." A heavy load of flirting went into the tone of his voice as he spoke, momentarily forgetting that she couldn't hear him. Then he wondered to himself whether or not she knew he was flirting with her, even at all? Usually when one flirts, it's the way they say it, not necessarily what they say, that comes off as flirting. Would she...catch it? He'd do his damnedest to make her feel beautiful and loved every day forever and ever, but he'd have to learn to use his words, wouldn't he? Cedric paused, as another foreign thought crept it's way into his mind.
Should he have gone and asked her father permission to be with his daughter before admitting to her how he felt? Cedric was old fashion in a sense, because his own father was, but the thought never quite occurred to him until the deed was done. What if he met her father and he hated Cedric for not coming to meet him first? What if there was bad blood between them, so much so that Idonea was forced to choose....?
Stop it, you're driving yourself crazy, he told himself.
"What now?" He turned to her, his face torn between confusion and happiness.

Lack of hearing often meant she lost out on the more subtle things, Inflictions in voices but it was the slight spark to his eyes as he flirted with her that gave it all away. When one does not hear they learn to pick up on more forgotten things, body language was something most forgot of when they had their hearing. She smiled letting just enough heat reach her eyes and voice to let him know she'd understood. "I might have to remember that then." She chuckled and shook her head with another smile.
His next question caused her to look around. What did they do now? Where did they go from here? "I don't know.. maybe.. maybe we should find my father?"

Alright, okay so she did know that he was flirting with her. Good to know. The look in her eyes told him everything he needed to know and the stallion couldn't stop himself from grinning like an even bigger idiot. Nothing really mattered much anymore now that they knew they had each other. Nothing needed to be said from here on out, all they needed to do was stand by each others side. And it made Cedric happy to know that she was his.
Technically. All they really did was admit their feelings and agree to spend time with each other. He hadn't asked her to mate with him, lifemate or otherwise. Not yet, at least....he didn't want to scare her off. That was a topic reserved for a special night...Cedric was always under the impression that it was wrong to just spring up a mating onto someone you loved. It had to happen in mutual trust and agreement.
Why was he even thinking about this? They had only JUST admitted their feelings. He shouldn't be thinking about mating.
Wait, did she say they should go see her father? Cedric snapped out of his inappropriate thoughts and looked back at his new love, his blue eyes rather terrified of the image of her father. She was a draft....so surely he would be too and that meant he'd tower over the poor stallion.
"Sure, if that's what you'd like to do. We could take up home there for a while, and stay safe. It'll be nice to settle down in one place, like I used to when I was a foal."

She'd turned to face him once more, catching his sentence as she did so. "I'd like him to meet you any ways." She smiled as she spoke. "After all, you never did get the chance did you? Besides.. I think he'd be glad to see that you are alive and well.. think he feared I might tear up every tree in sight to make certain you were ok." She flushed under her fur, lowering her head slightly along with her gaze in her embarrassment.

Well, at least her father wasn't angry with him. Or maybe he was, he just didn't want to show his anger in front of his daughter. Either way, Cedric was thankful that the older stallion didn't forbid Idonea from seeing him ever again, should their paths cross. Of course, Cedric would have followed her father's rule, but it would have been a sour disappointment. Ah, well...family is family and you cannot deny them their wishes.
Otherwise you'd be betrayed your family, and that was the last thing Cedric would ever do, or ever want Idonea to do as well.
"I wouldn't let any harm come to either of us, so you need never worry." He smiled at her, "alright, so we shall meet your father! Does he live nearby? I'm afraid I'll need some rest before we travel, if we have to go a long distance," with that, the stallion yawned and began to close his eyes in mock-sleep. "Just for a bit, then I'll be refreshed and ready to follow you anywhere."

She'd glanced up as she saw him move slightly, Watching his face as he spoke. Nodding she looked back over her shoulder the way she'd come. "Actually We're still in the common's area between several herds Including the one I'd grown up in..." She stated as she looked back to him. "So really It's not terribly far at all. I can send Binky ahead to tell him to meet us if you like."

Great! He was in the common's area between a few herd lands! And for how long had he been traveling to find her? Who knows how many herd lands he had ventured through to get here, and who knows how many of them could have been Kalona herds, or any other rather vicious creatures. Cedric shuddered at the thought. He had never been a herd kind of guy, but he'd much rather stay with Idonea and her family within their lands, than out-and-about on someone else's territory.
The thought of spending the rest of his life in Idonea's herd, loved and welcomed was almost enough to make him want to sprint to the very lands at that moment. She was his, and he was hers, and they would be together within the herd, for as long as the world allowed, and they would be surrounded by those who cared for them. It made him miss his own family, in a way, but they were all off kind of doing their own thing. His parents traveled; his siblings traveled...and the rest of his family was heavens know where. So being with her in a stable condition sounded fantastic.
"Alright, sure, Binky! Go alert the herd that we're here!" Cedric smiled warmly at his love and nuzzled against her side. "Will they let me stay here, with all of you? I'd love a place to call home."
