I agree with melo on this, We have been rping David and Iggy the longest, and to say they are vulnerable to being challenged when Melo and I have worked hard to keep them active and i don't think it would be fair if they had the option to be challenged for their power. The aspect of challenging should only affect those who have not been active.

I'm really up in the air with a lot of things. I know I do have the Raptor Beta still....and I'm more than willing to participate in as much as possible.

Hokay.
As it stands.

Anthros came from a time of magic.
Over time most (Not all) have lost touch with magic. Many are just like normal "human beings", but have tails.
Plenty have magic still but mostly for whatever reason (Self taught, natural ability, culture, etc), but most dont.

Long ago Anthros were made in Atlantis, from magic and spirits, to prevent the humans from destroying the world. As we know, Atlantis has also disappeared.
(Story plot idea spoilers below)
The meta basically reintroduces Atlantis, which has been hidden away from the world, and can be accessed through portals. The city has long since grown and expanded from it's original roots, maintained by anthros who had decided to turn their back on humanity, and shield what little of the Atlantean culture is left.

A few anthros from Atlantis have returned to the current realm, in search of the strays, as it became apparent that some of the magical orbs; the original source of anthros, were still scattered around the world.
Upon finding the shop, and the growing community and generations of anthros, they'll offer to take those who wish back to Atlantis. Those who wish to remain shall stay, and those who don't, shall go.

Either way, the Atlanteans will try and teach and learn alike from the Gaian anthros, and will try and return to the original Anthro goal of maintaining balance within Gaia.
Magic will be learned, by those who wish to learn it. There'll be a new canon world to explore, if wanted. And the Packs will become important again through other conflicts between species.

Aka. The meta is basically optional.

AS FOR THE LEADER THING.
I hear you.
When you put it like that it makes sense.
You have been actively contributing. There should be some kind of reward for that. Immunity from Challenges should probably definately be a perk 3nodding

Yeah. That was my main issue.

Even when the shop was dead, Mel and I tried. We have stuck around a decade along with others (Rini being a big one to name here). Ten years is a long time to stick around, and be told to basically ******** off, only to find yourself in a position of being screwed over again.

Mel and I worked hard through RP to start developing allying ties between our Packs. We also had our Alphas go as far as opening their door to all species, so that they had someone to turn to in times of needed comfort and guidance.

To be punished with risking losing their status would be a huge slap in the face. You don't stick around for a decade, and get told to shut up and deal with being brushed off to the side by the shop owner, only to get bent over in the end.

If Kismet lost his place I would honestly be done. I would do owed work, but I would officially be done.

I know it may sound selfish but we poured ten years into trying for a place that was dying (and at times, deceased). We were given pets that were special and did more than our fair share only to be brushed off every time we tried to take it a step farther; especially considering that Alphas/Betas came with such vague guidelines to begin with. We made their back stories on our own; we developed them from the ground up. That's how seriously we took their position.

I do apologize for taking it so personally, but hey, can't really be blamed in this scenario. I do strongly believe that immunity should be in place for those that took their Alpha/Beta seriously.

To be fair. I wasn't saying you will definitely lose your leader. I was saying that being challenged would be a thing a leader may have to deal with in the future. Even if it was likely to be a "lol there's no way this pipsqueak has a chance of over throwing me" kind of deal.

Something like an RP Mutiny, if people thought your Leaders were assholes or inactive.
Which yours weren't. That's why I thought It would be fair cause obviously your leaders have been active so there wouldn't be a threat, realistically. Even breeds from outside your pack have been welcomed, which is great to see such community. I doubt they'd be overthrown.

But I do understand your fears.

So I can't see why being active with your leader can't gain immunity from being overthrown, even if you chose to humor a "challenge" for RP purposes (With no real consequence cause of the immunity). And thus I will definitely add this to the plans.

I just...

Honestly must you take such an aggressive tone with me though?
Both of you have been quite quick to jump the gun when i'm trying to work *with* you guys.
No one is telling you to ******** off anymore. I love what you guys have done with the leaders and I wanna bring back the community spirit, not destroy it. crying

HEY!

I would like everyone to understand this, her and I are working together on this event and everything is being talked out to great detail.

You need to quit assuming stuff, everyone is always talking about meta events and plotlines and here you are, being given a huge event to help with development and you guys are nitpicking before it even begins and freaking out instead of calmly asking questions or for clarifications, not ok!

No one is allowed to treat anyone like the way you are treating Kay right now in this shop, the whole idea about being able to challenge alphas was so we could replace the inactive alphas with new ones because we all know a lot of owners have left gaia permanently so everyone needs to chill out!

If you have any questions about the event please feel free to ask them respectfully and calmly in this thread.

The next person to show agression towards Kay because of the event instead of talking about it calmly will be placed on the grey list because i'm not going to tolerate the staff being treated like this. Seriously, i'm disappointed in you guys, i've always bragged about this shop having the nicest people in it.

If anyone has a problem with this feel free to message me and we can talk about it.

I was not trying to sound aggressive.
I did apologize for taking the whole idea so personally but when it was in shop, it was very vague and left a lot of question and a ton of room for concern.

Discussing it here gives us the chance to voice our concerns, and you the chance to answer them with reason (which we have voiced and you have answered).

New rules on a shop rebirth are a scary thing; particularly to characters that have had a decades worth of effort poured into them.

I still did not mean to sound aggressive, text does not always come out the way that it is meant to. I understand you are not the one that has ever told us to ******** off; we just simply wanted to let it be known that we tried our best and that was the response we had gotten. I realize that things will be different, and compromise will willingly be made.

I do want to see Packs revived. There are a lot of folks that just never came back or never did much with their Alpha/Beta to begin with. The reviving is all Mel and I tried to do to begin with; it's not that I do not want to work with you! I do want to strive hard towards Pack revivals, and I am willing to have Kismet partake in metas (provided I am available for them).

What was spoken of in thread was just vague-- and I realize just a wip idea.

Once again though, I did not intend to come across as aggressive and I apologize for the tone being taken as such.

Ah; Thanks, Dracier, I think it's okay now though. Just fears flaring up;

I'm sorry about the vagueness. It was mostly to keep some surprises in store. And the pack stuff is more wip than the story line. It was like an upcomming announcement, to get hyped about. "Pack stuff tba~! Heck ye!"

Backfired I guess.
It's okay now. I think we can keep stuff calmer now at least. Plenty is cleared up, and I'll always be happy to answer questions and think of compromises if stuff doesn't sound too fair. sweatdrop

I understand the panic I really do, but everyone has to remember that when I worked under Aya I was literally given lineart and told to draw, never had any involvement with shop development or anything like that so when I purchased this shop from Aya in hopes of bringing it back to life I honestly had no idea where to start or even what the heck the story was really about.

That's why Kay and I (mostly Kay honestly) are trying to hard to get this all hashed out and it isnt easy because we dont have much to go on so please be patient and if you guys have any concerns or dont think something isnt fair please just tell us and we can figure something out.

This whole event idea is supposed to be fun for everyone and help build this shop and plotlines not freak anyone out smile

Hello-- bystander and lurker here. I've been quietly reading along for a while now, and I just wanted to offer some words of my own.

I don't personally believe either of them are attacking Darkened-Rabbits. Part of working with things that are-- as she put it-- "open to discussion", you run the risk of receiving criticism. They are voicing their opinions in fear of potential flaws in the system, I don't think they were belittling in what they were trying to say. From the looks of it, they have had ten years in this shop, and don't want to lose what they've built from the ground up.

I don't think anyone should be black-listed for voicing out in fear or worry. After all, you can't assume the tone of someone over the internet (unless they're cussing you out). That's silly.

Edit: And I am so slow with typing since this has all been said and done, but I wish this shop the best. I was actually hoping to participate in the shop myself one day. ;u;

I never said I would blacklist anyone, I said grey list which is a warning zone. Also Kay and I have been around this shop on and off (lurking for much time sometimes) for 10 years as well.

I also don't think they were attacking her personally either but everyone was getting super worked up and I felt the need to step in and center everyone so the discussion didnt go in the direction of chaos and everyone having a bad taste in their mouth for what is shaping up to be, in my opinion, a really cool event.

I appreciate everyone's input we just have to be a little calmer about it cause if I were Kay I would be shying away from trying an event after the panic and assumptions, plus I had someone threatening to quit on me *nudges Andie teasingly* blaugh

I actually want everyone to voice worries and fears so we can shape this event properly, just maybe do it in a calmer manner and not assume.

It was more the tone of the fear that startled me.
Critism is fine. I can take critism. "That doesn't sound like it'll be fair because what about my leader who's been active the last 10 years?"
That's fine. That's what I worked out from the rest of the posts.

It was the emotional attatchment to it that sounded rather agressive and fearful that got me.

It's okay it was mostly misunderstanding, anyway.

But yeah I'm basically just a Guest Colorist and Plot Bunny for the shop which I've been lurking on and off the past 10+ years so.... Bear with me as I try and regain bearings and work out a reasonable solution for everyone which is still fun and exciting.

I meant grey-list. e n e B/C terms are still new to me, but that's what I meant. XD
PostPosted: Tue Jul 21, 2015 2:36 am

I was honestly only trying to explain where our concerns were coming from so that we could all understand one another. I wanted you to understand our fears, and I wanted us to be able to understand what to expect.
While it was on a personal note, it was not with aggression that I was responding in.
Text is not always easy to express concerns in.
Fears are often read on an aggressive tone.

I understand the desire for surprises; and that's great. Though for us that have cared deeply for the shop even during it's deceased moments, we would like to help / be ready to be an active part of it to help the success of it. As a colorist here I could help make a pet or two (or five or whatever time I was given to create) for an event if we were allowed in the loop (just a suggestion, not necessarily a request or demand; can always keep us in mind for the next event).

re: "not knowing the story"

We feel you there.
I don't think any one person knows the story around here.
It was all vague from the get-go and just kind of thrown together?

Upon receiving Alphas and Betas, we knew very little, other than the fact they were special and supposed to serve important purposes to their specified species.

However we were only given vague guidelines, if you can even call them that.
Upon receiving Kismet I was told that he was RP mandatory.
That was legitimately all I was told.

His back story, his reason for being, his domain (destiny being Kismet's chosen domain) was basically left up for us to figure out on our own, without guidance from those that had apparent "plans / ideas" for them.

Once they were made that was pretty much where it seemed to stop.

We honestly have no idea what their original intent was either so we did what we could with RPing them; forming allies and enemies.

It will be nice to see something actually being done with them since that is what we have always wanted. You don't want a special pet and then just have it sit there, going to waste with no known purpose.

There's the general knowledge that is obvious; an Alpha/Beta that govern a species are obviously there to protect/guide that species-- but protect from what and guide how / to what end were left in the dark.

At least for me it was all left in the dark. I am unaware if anyone else was given a more in depth description / guideline to their Alpha/Beta?

-nudges Drace teasingly back- Hey now. I said if. razz

My idea for the Leaders is that they too were left in the dark.

They may have had some kind've.... awakening sometime during their life. A kind of spiritual calling, if you would.
Johann was greeted by a large rat. It'll likely often be a spirit animal (specifically the one of their species), but chances are it was hella vague but at somepoint something prompted them to... lead. Just an instinct.
But protect from what? From whom? Guide to what?
There's this overpowering urge to help other anthros but why or how is a mystery to them. But it'll feel like /something/ important. A destiny, perhaps.

How you interpret that in your leaders backstories is up to you, as no doubt after 10 years they'd have backstories already 3nodding

But they'll be given direction later.
There'll be guiding to do, for those who want guidance. And Protecting from dangers. There will be conflicts ahead. And If you'd like, your leaders may even have gut feelings about this, or dreams, premonitions of sorts. Maybe seeing more of their "spirit animal", glimpses of cats (or whatever their breed) in the corners of their eye, trying to tell them stuff (but not directly). (For raptors i'd go with lizards or birds, or something that makes sense to the breed)
After all they've currently lost the ability to discuss things with the spirits directly.

That's if you wanna do that.

As for this event. I've got this down with the anthros. But I will need assistance with anthros for events after that. I'll talk more with staff about that later 3nodding
