If they believed it to be unholy... wouldn't they then believe in holy water actually working... it being a legit blessing... and if they believe that... they must believe the priests who did the blessing are actually servants of the Christian God?
So they are not atheist, they are anti-christian agnostics.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around how it's unholy since it's purpose is to wash away the "oils of intolerance" and apparently an exclusive blessing. Sounds very holy to me. I wonder if they are covert Christians ninja (I joke)

I was just kinda joking there since I don't think they thought it all the way through. But when you are trying to get a reaction form others who don't think it all the way through either, I guess you end up with something like that. I'm sure they pissed off some, but for me, it just kinda makes me laugh.

Now for something on the serious side: I hope everyone realizes that these humanists do not represent all humanists and atheists, like how Westboro Baptist Church is not an accurate representation of Christianity.
I think this article illustrates that every super-group, has it's fringe sects that try to rile up others for attention. Let's not forget too that we have some caring and compassionate atheists in our guild that have readily destroy this stereotype.

Let's not forget too that we have some caring and compassionate atheists in our guild that have readily destroy this stereotype. I may not be religious but I'll say amen to that. xD I have tried to explain this concept to a friend of mine who is also an atheist but is at the complete opposite end of the spectrum from me.... And what I eventually came to infer was that her deep, passionate hatred for religious sects stemmed from a former obsession with Christianity that she was forcibly removed from by her friends. She has compensated for this by claiming that "atheism saved her life" and that she is going to basically "convert" every Christian person she knows. I found this all very interesting... It gave me a bit of insight into what may be driving some atheists to fanaticism. It just further proves to me that religion is not the problem - mental illness is the problem. That's really where extremists come from. P.S. Has anyone ever heard of this? rofl Is it real? Are they serious? http://firstchurchofatheism.com/I mean... REALLY? Really? That's all I can say. xD

It's actually more complex than mere belief in something/nothing. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/religionBelief (or unbelief) and faith, is at the core of it, according to it's definition. The Atheist "church" says they believe in science, reality, and reason. The belief in science, a concept that changes every day by the person with the most money. Reality, there are thousands of kids dying of diseases, hunger, and other things that can be prevented easily. Reason, the very thought of an atheist church defies reason.

Wow really? Honestly this has to be one of the dumbest things I've seen. Including my religion teacher and some classmates i had...and that's saying something. So someone blessed a highway, big deal, it makes people feel safe. If you dont believe in it then it shouldn't bother you any more than rain water. Of course theres people afraid of water..but i dont think thats the case here lol I mean to go trough all that trouble...damm cant they just take a different highway if they have such a problem with it?...I half expect them to make an atheist-only street one of these days XDD

It's actually more complex than mere belief in something/nothing. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/religionBelief (or unbelief) and faith, is at the core of it, according to it's definition. Belief makes the world go round but most religions are based more on practices than beliefs. Quote: The Atheist "church" says they believe in science, reality, and reason. The belief in science, a concept that changes every day by the person with the most money. Reality, there are thousands of kids dying of diseases, hunger, and other things that can be prevented easily. Reason, the very thought of an atheist church defies reason. That's the beliefs of any decent person, doesn't require one to be an atheist to acknowledge that. Also a good number of people do actually believe on science since you know science is a body of knowledge.
