Okay so she had the attacking part down, but still horribly lacked in defending. Mostly it was because she was just trying to get him to stop. Not that she thought this was anything worth going on about, and she by now, had obviously never known what 'sparring' was.
And again, she was kept down on the ground, although it seemed that last hard retaliation on her, and the already deep bruises she had seemed to be slowing her down... as if she could be any more. Now more than anything she just tried to stand up from under him, she was getting short on breath and her annoyance was still clear.

Steadying himself after the tackle, Apocalypse clopped his hooves a few times and wasn't able to avoid her completely as she stood. Stepping back, he snorted, growing more obviously tired with each attack, but he still had no plans of stopping. Once this was finished, he would speak to about more useful sparring, more so than simply flailing around and pretending. He would teach her, she had the potential, and if he wasn't still trying to clear his head of the pain, he would have smirked again. Now that she was standing again, he quickly leaned in, snapping at her with his teeth.

The fact that she was finally able to stand and be clear of him was a relief. And it allowed her to gain some sense of accomplishment, some sense of release and relief. Her ears pinned as he lunged for her and she leaned back, trying to avoid the oncoming bite. In fact, it wasnt just a lean, it was more of a full on movement. She was finally getting smart enough to get out of his way... unfortunately it was a little too far which made her slight kick at his front legs most likely useless.

It only took a quick step back to avoid her kick, she was simply too far away. But that was fine, Apocalypse felt he needed this momentary reprieve. The lapse gave him time to try and gather himself further, to try and end this thing with some kind of grace. Because he was sure she wouldn't last much longer and he was equally positive he would be the victor of this impromptu test spar. It wasn't in the stallion's nature to think anything else. Taking a short few trots forward, he kicked a leg out the same way she had, as if trying to show her how it was done.

She was ready for him, her ears pinned and she knew better than to think that THIS time he might walk away. Sure, he got her, he actually just knicked her. She was still holding strong enough that she didnt buckle. Instead, she took it as a challenge, after shifting a moment, taking the blow she sneered, how dare HE attempt to show HER how it was done.
When he was close enough, she reared back, aiming squarely for his jaw, the back of it where it attached to his skull. Sure, a potentially serious injury could occur but right now... she could care less.

He hadn't been expecting it. She seemed so close to done, he thought, he hadn't believed she had it in her to rear back like that. As her hooves flew at his face, he knew he couldn't avoid it. Still, he guessed from her angle that it wouldn't be pretty if she hit her target. With all he could muster, he moved away, catching the blow against the base of his neck instead. It hurt and he felt his throat tighten with the breaths he was trying to take.
"Dammit!" he hissed, stumbling sideways and, before he could steady himself, falling. He hit the ground with an uncomfortable grunt, but despite the pain, he curled his legs in and shot them out at her almost immediately after. He couldn't let her take advantage now that she had finally gotten him on the ground.

She was down for the count. That last little bit of a hit and she stepped back, shaking a bit, head bowed and panting. Her ears were docked to the sides and it was obvious that she wouldnt be able to take anymore. Even her vision blurred a bit, but instead of turning to leave she finally allowed her legs to buckle as she lay down, a little worse for wear.

After a moment, when he was sure she wouldn't be getting back up, Apocalypse rolled to his hooves. Approaching her, breathing heavy, he settled down at her side. Right now he was too tired to be lording over anything, he just wanted to lay there and rest. Still, he had to assure her, before he lost too much of her obedience, that this really had been nothing but preparation. And it had been necessary despite the brutality.
"Good," he started, tipping his head at her. "You are strong, and I will help you get stronger. We will fight together." Whether or not she was listening completely, it didn't really matter. As long as some of the words reached her, that was good enough.
