He smiled at the approval of short hair, and Calder stopped touching it bashfully. He undressed to his kilt, and walked over to fish out a ball of bubblegum from the bag before slipping into the water. The color didn't bother him, as he often slept in muddy banks, but he seemed to cringe at the touch of hot water. It was always unpleasant.
Diving underwater a moment, he came back up and breathed out, before swimming about and chewing his piece of gum, making a bubble, and popping it loudly. His eyes went to Val's chest. "What happened?"

The sound of the bubblegum popping brought a smile to Valentino's lips, the pop reminded him of breaking bones in the lab.
Calder's question was one that Valentino hadn't really answered before. He didn't take off his coat very often. The gap wasn't that bad in Valentino's mind. It had been from a clean cut long ago.
"this? Oh it's what probably killed me the first time" Valentino shrugged, he was undead, there wasn't much more to it.
If Calder was going to play questions with Calder, Valentino guessed this is was his turn to ask. "so much has changed since I was last outside. Have missed much?"

Calder seemed to wilt in the heat of the hot spring, and moved to sit beside Val, stretching his arms out to rest on the floor over the rim of the spring. He continued to smack his gum. "Well, we went to a field trip to an island, if you were there for that. There was a lot of abandoned places and fog that made you see and hear crazy things. I died there so I don't know much what was going on, but Hellma and the teachers came and brought us back. I heard some gossip about horsemen being there, and then we got the horsemen heirs in our school. After that, hmmm, we also went to a field trip to a haunted house, and you went in groups, and each room had some crazy challenges. Really dangerous stuff. I wound up running around trying to find my friend who was captured. There were hunters there. Humans! They had weapons and were just crazy. They had chained up some poor halloweener and some students in cages, but we freed them. Though....well, Professor Red went all nuts and strange and started attacking everything, and the hunters......well.." He sighed.
"Well, she's not around. Never reformed again. The boogemen have been here ever since saying our school isn't even fit and causing a mess with the newspapers saying the school is terrible and sayin hunters don't even exist. We even had to take a test to prove our school was legit and good. Under all this mess, we did manage to have Scarentines again. It was a nice dance. Really makes you feel like a student again.. But, pah. Now we have these trials just to prove to some dumb Horsemen that we need their help. Can't even just volunteer to help us. Jerks." He popped his gum again, before looking back at Val. "That's about it. Dangerous Field trips and not a lot much else."

"so same old same old" Valentino sink down into the hot spring until the water reached his nose. The heat was starting to make Valentino feel pretty sleepy. His eyes started to droop. the water was almost boiling and Valentino's skin was starting to warm up. His flesh wasn't quite yet done, but soon he would be medium rare at least.
gliding to the other side of the pool, looking directly at Calder, Valentino closed his eyes for a moment to let everything sink in. Although it wasn't normally his thing, Valentino was slightly worried for the school. No other place would let him near so many potential subjects. "This school is the last place I have" Valentino admitted, "I would hate to see it go"
Valentino opened his eyes and sighed, somber thoughts were permeating in his head "where would you go if the boogeymen had their way and the school closed down?"

Calder rested his head, looking very wilted and sleepy. The thought of the school being gone upset him, as it did many students. With all the pressure from the Boogiemen and newspapers, there was an uneasiness in the air over their school closing. They had all fought hard to keep it open that the idea of the school finally shutting it's gates troubled him.
"I'd go back to my clan if that happened. I'd stay there and learn some trade from the older kelpies, and probably start a family. It's what you are supposed to do. This school isn't necessary for me in my clan's opinion, and they don't it very much. We're self sufficient. We teach and learn in our own group all that is needed. If the school closed, it would just mean my time here was cut short." Then he'd never see his friends again.
"What would you do?"

The heat was starting to make Valentino's brain boil, not that he minded, it sent a tingle from his head to his toes. He wasn't melting, which was how he had always assumed that everything would end. This wasn't the time to think about some death speculation. Calder had been clearly affected just thinking about this academy ending. " What would I do without this academy? There'd be no reason for me to leave my lab in between grave-robberies, Working on my creations." Valentino had plans for when he was done with this academy, graveyards would be emptied and thunderstorms would be the harbingers of his new creations. " Without the protection of this school however, it would only be a short time before the boogeymen figured out who was emptying the graveyards." Valentino chuckled to himself, those midnight escapades were always the highlight of his nights.

Calder was wilting, and he wiped his face, noticing he was starting to slime. "I hope you will treat your creations nicely and not like just workers. I don't like that. You should be, like, a really good father to them." He smiled. "Scientist should be like parents. Good parents. If I was one, I'd make a whole bunch of cute kids. Then they can meet the kids I made with pumpkins and have lots of different kids." The thought of controlling what you created was something that sparked his imagination, but another part of him liked the idea of surprise when you a parent. That you didn't know WHAT was going to come out of the pumpkin.
"Ahh. It's hot. Want to get out? I'm starting to...." Well, slimy. Calder heaved himself out of the water, feeling weak from the heat and a bit more pink than usual. "What do you want to make?" He always wondered what drove scientists to create.
