"Stupid crabs!" Astra shouted angrily, green foliage appearing in her hands only to be flung at the enemy with deadly accuracy. She was satisfied to see a few of the crabs fall, but there were many more to fight. She wouldn't be able to do this by herself.
"I think I need some help here.." The fairy said, then quickly flew higher as a crab was able to pinch her right on the butt. Damn they hurt!"

Mandy had been busy glaring away any spectators from coming near their castle and so had not been entirely listening when the next announcement came through. She really wished she had though when she suddenly found herself shrinking to even smaller than usual.
This.. was just cruel. The horseman had all these powers over height and they weren’t making her tall.
She'd be male again if she got that height. She wanted it that bad ok? You didn’t understand what it was like to be small. (Or.. well actually now all the students in this contest now did. Huh. Ok she could approve a bit. But Jack darn it she was still shorter than everyone.)
Especially those crabs there.
Wait.
Crabs?
Those weren’t the hermit crabs she'd caught oh jac-
Mandy lashed out at the behemoths, claws mostly useless against their hard exoskeletons, receiving a bash to the head for her troubles.

Not long after it appeared that the castle was complete and they'd had a little bit of time to simply relax and enjoy the atmosphere (except where Mandy was concerned, it seemed), suddenly there were crabs coming up the beach and right toward the sandcastles.
Damn, those crabs were huge.
Yuki, seeing Astra and Mandy's response to their presence, realized well enough that they would have to drive the pests away before they did some reason damage. At least the castle wasn't coming down, or really taking much of the damage at all.
"No you don't!" Yuki shouted at one particular crab that was snapping its pincers in anticipation of clamping them down on sand or student.
He sent a well-aimed kick at the crab, and effectively sent it flying.

"ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH!" Mandy let loose her battle cry on the crab before following Yuki's clearly more well thought out move and kicking the crab with all her might.
No way where those things getting near her castle.
(Also dang it why did she take off her coat and mail? She could see them still giant by the flag)

THE TIDE COMES IN AND...
Mandy had been patrolling up and down the length of their castle looking for anymore marauding crabs when it happen. First the distant constant whoosh, whoosh of waves started to get louder, then her feet started to sink into the sand before finally she found herself being Jacking tossed into her castle by a wall of water and nearly drowned.
Spluttering like a drowned rat Mandy looked back to their castle from where the wave had deposited her only to find the entire front left hand side had sunk down.
"TEAM ASSAMBLE CASTLE EMERGENCY! CASTLE EMERGENCY! WE NEED REPAIRS STAT!" Mandy yelled as she ran towards the damage hoping they could fix the thing at their size before it collapsed and disqualified them.

Now that the crabs had been conquered, Astra found herself sitting on the sand, rubbing the places were the crabs had pinched her mercilessly. However, she began hearing a distant whooshing sound, and before she realized it, a waved of water was sent her way. But rather then topple the fairy over, it made the pain go away. The water felt very cool, and she sighed happily, enjoying herself in the shallows.
That was until she heard Mandy yelling, and turned to see part of their castle had collapsed. Eyes wide, she immediately ran out of the water and towards the castle, grabbing as much sand as she could and molding it back onto the part that had collapsed. It was then she had realized that playing around in the water wasn't such a good idea; her wings were now wet, slowing her down.

As she continued to work on rebuilding the castle, the bright sunlight was quick in drying out her wings, and soon enough she was able to fly again. Now she could really get down to work! She began to work on the taller parts of the castle, pulling sand back and molding it into it's original form.

Being small was a really pain in the butt. She thought her original high was bad, but this? She was having trouble picking up grains of sand! She began to slow down, but she was still able to repair parts of the castle.

Mandy was a castle repairing machine as she frantically stuffed the sliding sand back into place, wondering how they would repair the higher parts. Maybe if they just fixed the bottom enough the rest woild be stable if lopsided?

Unfortunately Mandy wasn’t actually a machine, just a simple Drop Bear, which meant as she shifted more and more sand she found herself getting tired. Soon her arms began to ache and the mere effort of lifting a single grain felt herculean. Still, she persisted. It was suffer or fail and Mandy wasn’t the failing type.

With Mandy's frantic shouting, Yuki had also rushed to the side of the sandcastle that had begun to wash away. He'd been worried about the tide, and he inwardly wondered if this was all in the plan when those in charge chose the location of where they would each build.
Gathering up as much sand as he could, Yuki worked quickly to try and replace what had been lost.

Hard working though it was, at least all of it seemed to be making a good difference. He was glad that Astra was able to help the higher areas that had been damaged, because he never would have been able to reach them himself and Yuki was pretty sure that Mandy would have been worse off.
He continued to pick up grains of sand and try to pack them in against the other shifting sands with a little more ease the second time around.

THE KRAKEN'S HP: 143  (( BONUS MECHANICS: The real fake bird really looks up, not fearing death-ah. -50% damage done from the kraken PER ATTACK THE STUDENTS DO.)) ....Kraken? Mandy looked out at the frothing sea. What was a Kra...ke...n oh huh She strained her neck looking up at the tentacle as it cast its massive shadow. She somehow thought this one wasn't going to be easily bribed to leave them alone like Malcom's. Meanwhile the Kraken was hungry for some sandy sandy blood.
