A Wandering Esper

Beloved Stargazer

...An easily forseen answer, in retrospect. "Well, there are smaller villages, in Teldrasil. Rut'theran Village is actually at the very base of the tree, while Dolannar sits on the top level, as we are now."

Adi might enjoy seeing Rut'theran, come to think of it... it was a completely different viewpoint of Teldrassil.

"How about Rut'theran?" Elik had guessed correctly, and she was very interested in getting a different view of Teldrassil. Maybe it looked more like a tree at the bottom?

"That is quite easily done, actually..." And so he started to lead her toward the portal. Had it not been for that, well, getting to Rut'theran would have been a great deal more difficult indeed.

All it took was one step, and they were exactly where they wanted to be. And, indeed, Teldrassil was indeed a great bit more tree-like at this level - there was the sea in the distance, but also the soft shadows of the looming foliage and - if Adi turned to look - the backdrop was a part of the world tree's massive trunk.

Before they went through the portal, Adi stared at it for a moment, mystified, and once they were through, turned around to regard it with awe. "That's awesome!"

She did eventually notice their surroundings though, furthering her excitement. "It is a tree!" ...wait. Off in the distance was something she had never seen in person before. "Is that the ocean?"

It was so adorable, really, to have Adi so wide-eyed and full of wonder, and Elik couldn't help but smile.

He hadn't expected her to be so amazed at the ocean, through. "Yes, it is. Teldrassil is it's own island." Nearly all covered by the world tree itself, save for smaller bits of lands at ground level, like the one they were standing on.

"Nobody told me that!" How come everyone had neglected to mention that the ginormous tree was also an island? A giant tree-island in the middle of the ocean! "I've never been to an ocean. Can we go see it?"

Probably because ginormous tree was a lot to take in to begin with. At least, that had been the reason why Elik had not mentioned it.

"You've never seen one ?" But then, the pantheon was landlocked on all sides, was it not ? And with Rio, well, she probably had not had the opportunity to wander far, as Love had his own obligations. "We can."

And so he stepped toward the shoreline. The breeze was fresh and salty, the air a bit colder than it had been on the top level.

"Nope! Just in pictures and movies." And it had always looked amazing, and big, and like it would be so much fun to play in. There was a definite skip in Adi's step as they made their way to the shore, and took in a deep breath. It really smelled different than anything she was used to.

She wasted no time in getting her paws wet. The water was a little cooler than she'd expected it to be, but it was nice. "Are there any, like, sharks or anything?"

In other words, was it safe to actually go swimming?

Elik's own steps were more subdued, but he followed the excited werewolf closely, unable to completely hide his amusement. The idea of never seeing the sea was such a strange and foreign one to him...

"Not this close to the shore, no." He stopped at the shoreline. "And not sharks at that." Nothing that would eat her, really, not unless she wandered much farther than she probably would.

Yes! No sharks, that was good! Adi hesitated for a moment, though - she didn't usually swim in her clothes, just a t-shirt if she really had to, but she didn't have one handy. Alone, she would've flung off her clothes without a second thought, but Elik was right here. But...

Oh, come on, Adi, don't be ridiculous. She was anything but body-shy, and why should she get all weird around the night elf just because she liked him? Besides, this could be an opportunity. Before she could think about it any further, the werewolf stripped unceremoniously, tossed her clothes back onto the sand, and waded out into the water.

It was a little too evident was Adi planned to do, and what would probably happen as a result of it. Adi had little to fear - or a lot to fear, depending on how one wanted to look at it ! - since Elik adverted his gaze the moment clothing started to fly. Not that he had ever seen a woman naked, but... Well. From his experience, the people from the pantheon world were a little perticular about it. Better to be safe than sorry !

Adi did her best to look like she wasn't waiting for a reaction that never came, though she was in fact dismayed when she looked back and Elik was looking away. Was he just being polite, or did he not want to look? That was a...worrisome thought. Her one uneaten wing twitched, but she made herself take it in stride.

"Are you coming in or not?" She grinned at him, doing a halfway decent job of not looking as nervous as she was.

It was when Adi called for him that he remembered to look back, and... well. Figures he would know sooner than later how she felt about that, as she was not completely submerged yet.

Hopefully Rio wasn't going to kill him if he ever heard of it, too.

"Ah, yes." He made his way toward the water then, pondering if he could surprise Adi with his seal form or not. She had never seen that one ! A little later, maybe. The water was good, and well... He had to admit the view was interesting.

And he wasn't thinking about the shoreline there.

Fortunately for Elik, if - when - Rio found out, there wouldn't be any killing. Love had a much more...relaxed attitude than most parents when it came to certain things. And Adi knew better than to tell Orin any more than he needed to know.

"It feels a little funny," she observed, hoping that talking might conceal some of her nerves, and looked away for a moment to hide a faint blush when he finally looked. "I think it's the salt. But I like it."

Her expression brightened with relief when Elik came to join her, tail skimming the water as it wagged. She was standing thigh-deep, but soon discovered that staying in one place and not moving was inadvisable, as the waves moving in and out gradually eroded away the sand from under her paws. She didn't notice this, however, until she actually lost her balance and tipped over into the water with a startled yelp.

"The salt is good, through." Really, he preferred to swim in salt water. He simply liked the feel of it best... Through he could see why it would be strange for Adi, who was not used to it at all.

...And who clearly was not used to sand erosion, either. When she yelped, Elik found himself lunging forward, reaching out on reflex to catch her before she face-planted right into the water. "Careful here !"

Really, sand did not taste very good. "Don't stand in one place for too long, alright ? The waves push the sand away."
