Jude was released and allowed to wander around a bit (but within earshot) of the other two as he wandered around pausing as both made observations about what they found, "Maybe we should collect evide--," the Hunter paused as a sudden growl came from nearby and his head slowly turned.
There was a huge a** black dog glaring at him and for a moment it seemed like it was going to go away but suddenly it was more solid and crouching baleful eyes glaring at him and the others within view.
"Uh...Guys, I think I found it," Jude said his tone pitching a bit of a higher octave than normal - mostly because he wasn't expecting to be the one to find the damn thing.  BOSS HP: 50

"Silver tray? Black ashes? You think it's some sort of ritual or something?" She peered over Deryk, making vague hand gestures in the air, "To summon a big, black dog-" As if on cue, the creature that they had been hunting for appeared - a little too close for comfort, even if it wasn't doing anything but staring at them.
"Way to go, Judy!" She grinned, summoning her weapon as she cautiously make her way towards him, her eyes on the black dog's; she could feel it observing her as well, and it was, frankly speaking, a little creepy yet exciting, "Don't let it get away!"
Although it didn't look like it had any intention of running.
For what felt like a long time, she found herself at a stare down with the black dog as it became completely solid, its glance shifting from one hunter to the next, as if deciding on a target. Then, baring its sharp canines, the black dog let out a warning growl before running straight for her, managing to take a powerful swipe at her with its sharp claws before she found the opportunity to retaliate by hitting it against its shoulder with her weapon.

That begged the question of who would want to summon a big black dog. Well.. maybe cultists, he supposed, but it still didn't make that much sense to Deryk. Hearing Jude, he turned around and let out a small yelp as he saw the large creature THERE. Sure. If 'play' meant ripping them all to shreds. The trainee quickly summoned Tooley before moving in after Ariane. They needed to take this thing down! There was little doubt in his mind that this was the cause of the animal manglings in the area. However, as he got close, the creature took a swipe at him, knocking him down before he could land a hit of his own. "AH! Man this packs a punch. Owow... careful!"HP: 32 Damage:0 Charge:0

"I wasn't planning on letting it get away," he grunted a bit as he summoned Yom's weapon form and then went in for the attack after the other two had moved out of the way so he could properly attack.
He made a couple of swipes that hit home but unfortunately there was a swipe back at him from the Dog causing Jude to stumble back a bit with a small wince, "Damn thing."

"Try going in from the rear- UGH," She winced as the thing decided to bite down on Kintama and pull her in before letting go rather suddenly, causing her to effectively fall in a not-at-all glamourous way; if not for the fear shield, she would have been ripped to shreds by now, "JUST STAB IT OKAY?" She sounded frustrated, but that might be because the black dog wasn't allowing her to stand.
"AND... A LITTLE HELP... PLEASE?"

Right. Attack from behind. Deryk scrambled back up to his feet and tried to run to get around the big black beast. Once he was in position, he jumped at it, managing to get in one cut before he was kicked back by one of the hind legs.
"OUF!" he grunted as he tumbled back, hitting the dirt once more.
"Ughh..."
That didn't feel too good.

"I'm doing the best I can," Jude called out as he went in for another attack on the dog only to getting a hard n** to a limb in return for his troubles. "It is weakening, I think. Just a little more. If you're too hurt just fall back!" That was all anyone can do, right?

With it distracted, Ariane rolled away from it - you did not just see that - before scrambling up and going at the black dog again, swinging Kintama against its side with a scowl, "If you need to fall back, just do it!" They would only get in the way otherwise; besides, she did not want to be responsible for any deaths or permanent injuries.
The thought made her shudder.

Fall back? Deryk could fall back yes. But he didn't think he was out of the fight just yet.
"Not going down yet!" he exclaimed before pushing himself back to his feet. Rushing back at the beast, he slashed it across the face with Tooley before trying to back away. It didn't work too well, as the dog then headbutted him in the chest, knocking him to the side.

Swish is the sound that is made when Jude misses his target and stumbles forward only to have the creature's claws rend at the back of his leg, "OW! DAMN IT!" Jude cried out as he tried to recover. Thanks to the fearshield there was no real bleeding yet.

Ariane just... She wasn't sure what happened, but just as she was about to laugh at Jude's fail, she went ahead and did a fail as well, getting whacked by the dog's tail, sending her stumbling backwards as she tried to regain her balance.
It hurt like a whip.

Deryk was really wearing down here. Taking a moment to catch his breath, he glanced up to see his teammates get knocked back by the dog. Straightening back up, he rushed back at the creature, cutting into its paw right before it basically smacked him across the face with it.

Another swish and a miss and then more pain brought on by the beast chewing on his arm that was swinging toward him.

"About time!" She frowned, drawing back to toss the weapon at the dog... Only to have Kintama miss completely, making an arc like a boomerang would before returning to the female hunter, who somehow, despite her surprise, managed to catch it in her hand.
"... Are you serious," She twitched, looking frustrated and just a tad embarrassed, "ARE YOU... SERIOUS? IS THIS ABOUT THE LACK OF GIRLS, HUH? IS THIS REVENGE?" She was talking to her weapon. Out loud.

This was looking very bad. Ariane had missed her charge attack. Deryk tried to get in one more hit, barely nicking the beast before it swiped at him again.
"Ah! Fearshield gone!" he cried out before scrambling back and away from the beast.
