With a groan, Deryk slowly came around again, finding himself back in the recovery room.
"Huh what? Oh. Um. Uh.. Think I got 16 that time. Definitely beat my old record. Looks like you managed to take out some too?" he said while sitting up, rubbing his head, "Was just about to use charge attack too! Shadows got me before I could hit anything."
Tooley was extra disappointed in this. She wanted to hit something. Dammit!

Wilson nodded. “I did. Definitely better than my last few attempts.” Smiling, he rolled his eyes. He reluctantly began to stand back on his feet. “Well, I guess you’ll just have to learn how to use it faster. Those shadows are pretty damn pesky, I’ll admit that.” His smile contorted with pain as he rolled back his shoulders. Man. Despite being mowed down so early in his body still ached. “Up for another round?”
He adjusted his mask again and Gramps sounded fairly pessimistic in his mind. [You are going to fail this. Again. REMIND ME WHY WE ARE PARTNERS AGA--]

"Yeah! No kidding. Must push self harder," he agreed. Once he was all set, he was back in the dark area with Wilson. Tooley thought that now was a good time to be humming lightly in his head, providing him with a bit of.. battle music in a way. Well, it still kind of pumped him up. Deryk managed to tear through a good chunk of the shadowlings as they came on by. Status Wave: 1 Attack Dmg: 7 Total Shadowlings taken out: 7 Recoveries left: 0

Of course Wilson would fail at passing the second wave. Of course he would.

Turning around, Deryk soon saw Wilson get taken out by some of the shadowlings. Cringing at this, he was going to see if he could help the guy up, but soon had some problems of his own. These things did not relent! He cut back a handful, and by the time he turned back to his friend, the senior hunters had already hauled him away. The third time he woke up, Wilson’s head actually throbbed. Three attempts at the shadow run in a row were apparently not good for the death trainee. His words were incomprehensible as he rolled onto his stomach and stared at his comrade. “Did you get further this time?” Wilson did not appear to be very amused. He decided to stay flopped down on the ground for a while more as he mentally recounted the past attempts. “Do you want to try another time?”

Groaning, Deryk slowly sat up, feeling a little dizzy from being knocked out again for the third time that day. This was kind of rough on the body.
"Not really. Taken out on the third wave. Owow..." he winced, "Uh.. yeah. Let's try again another day. Don't know if my body can keep this up. Tooley's tired too. Rest up. Try again later."

It was a new day and when Wilson woke up he didn’t feel as sore as he thought he would have been. This was good. Maybe he could give the Shadow Run another try (or two, or three.) While he still lied in bed, he reached over to grab his phone from the nightstand. He punched out a brief message to Deryk.Blade Kuroda heading over to shadow run. want to give it another go?

Oh Deryk was all set alright. After replying to the text, he went off to meet with his friend at the spot. He was having a pretty good feeling about this day. Whether or not it would really be a good day was to be determined though. "Alright. Let's do this! he exclaimed while getting Tooley ready. The shadows came. Seeing them approach, he struck out to take out a small handful while keeping his back to Wilson. Status Wave:1 Attack Dmg: 3 Total Shadowlings taken out: 3 Recoveries left: 0

He nodded his head at Deryk while also slipping on his mask. Wilson was hopeful he would be able to get farther in the Shadow Run, but at the same time he just sort of really sucked at it. And for once, his partner attempted to be encouraging. [WILMA.] …Wilson. [YOU CAN DO THIS.] He wasn’t able to take out much, but he wasn’t unconscious. Seeing a larger wave of enemies come, Deryk took in a deep breath and nodded to Wilson. Somehow, he managed to take down a large chunk in a huge flurry. Perhaps in this case, flailing actually helped a little bit. Hopefully that also would help keep some of the shadows off of Wilson's back. It seemed to work out pretty well. At least to Deryk. So far. Not wanting to lose momentum, he continued to flail and strike every dark thing that moved nearby. Status Wave:3 Attack Dmg: 5 Total Shadowlings taken out: 18 Recoveries left: 0

This was good. This was very good. Wilson had actually made it to third wave. He bent his knees, standing in a ready position until the next swarm arrived.
