He nudged Koios shoulder and grinned with pride at the cubs idea. "I knew there was a reason I liked you. I'm always trying to get away from my Moms watchful eyes." The cub had almost read Areos mind with his idea for "escape" because it was so close to the truth it was ironic. He was really beginning to like this cub more and more and it made him happy to know he finally had someone he didn't have to share with his siblings, at least not yet.
With Koios final idea he knew that he found the perfect partner in mischief! What better than to find themselves a hide out where no one could find them. It was sheer genius, at least to him it was. He pounced towards the starting "shrub" eagerly and looked at his friend in anticipation. "I think that's a great idea!" He looked at their final destination in earnest and was more than ready to get the race going as soon as they figured out how they were going to start. "Do you think we should count to three and then go?" If he had a better idea he'd be up for it, but at the moment all Areo could think of was counting. There really wasn't much of anything near by that could be useful.

The cubs nudge was about all Koios needed to get moving along side him to the starting shrub. Their game had certainly begun, especially after the praise given from Areo. Praise was almost unnecessary, he knew the idea was good, but their friendship had grown and grown, that just seemed to glue it together. A common goal, a common "enemy", what better to bond over!
"Three sounds good!" He smiled brightly at the black and orange cub, excited eyes bounced from the opposing cub to the destination and essentially the prize. The prize being a secret hideout, a place for these two cubs to rule something. Perhaps they would get followers? If they did, they could play kingdom. Oh the ideas were running around in Koios' mind like he couldn't believe.
"Okay, one!" He began, a smile returning to Areo.
"Two!" His eyes narrowed as they turned from the other cub, and he readied his little legs best he could. It was about time he began to limber up.
"Three!"
And like a snake was ready to pounce him he bolted. The imaginary attack behind him and hopefully Areo as well. Though winning the race meant very little to him, it was still enjoyable. It didn't matter where his legs were, his eyes were already seeking a hideout.

He was glad he finally had a companion to play games with and find all sorts of trouble. He looked at Koios as he started to count and he winked at him as he turned towards their destination at the sound off of two. He crouched low to the ground and tensed in anticipation of the final number to sound.
He was already scouting the landscape as the lion next to him shouted three and they took off like their lives depended on it. He was so excited to find a cave for them to "rule" that he focused too much on the destination, rather than where he was going and he almost stumbled on a meerkat hole. He recovered and felt his muscles burning as he raced towards the looming peak in the nearing horizon.
He looked over towards the lighter cub and smiled. "what...should...we....name...our...hideout" he managed to breath out as he pushed himself as much as he could. The running felt great and it made him feel amazing.

Upon shouting that last number Koios felt a burst, as if his mind was left behind as his legs took off beneath him. He caught up with himself when the other cub spoke. The wind seemed to grab some of the words, but Koios got the point.
"It.. has to be.. something.. COOL!" He proclaimed, no ideas coming to him at the time, his eyes were glued to their keypoint destination. As the pair ran he watched the rock get bigger and bigger. As the rock grew so did his eyes. His eyes were enormous by the time they found themselves nearing the base. It certainly hadn't been as far as he though. Or were they super fast? Perhaps they were part cheetah. Even as the thought occurred to him he laughed.
"What... do you think?" He huffed as they continued their spree.

Green Ever After OMG... this is totally my bad... -feels ashamed-
It was as if they were flying because it seemed like no time at all they were almost there and it was almost crazy to think that it really wasn't that far away. Boy was his distance calculating off.
He nearly tumbled when his paw snagged a rock sticking out of the ground but caught himself in time to pick back up his pace. "Do.. you...ha..ve any ideas?' he asked the other cub as they were within moments of reaching their destination.

Before the white cub could respond he found his eyes meeting the large rock, they were almost there, in fact their race had found the rocks shadow and their heated sprint could finally come to an end. Due to their distance Koios became silent, saving his breath for their momentum rather than their conversation.
A few moments later Koios found himself neck in neck with Areo and that seems to be how the race would end. They had reached their destination and he was certainly impressed. Their home was magnificent, but it was nothing compared to the monument standing before them. He took in a few deep breaths, his heart trying its darnedest to recover so that he may speak.
"Well..." He said with a sigh, the breath slowly coming back to his lungs. "We need to find a place first. There has to be some!" His young, excited eyes began moving rapidly, seeking out their new hidey hole.

Seeing how the other remained silent he didn't press the issue, talking while doing this was definitely too much work! Mere seconds went by it seemed and they were suddenly hitting the long casted shadows of the massive formation. Neck and neck they were and Areo wouldn't of had it any other way. Not that he would have gloated had he won or been a sore loser, he liked that they were honestly just have some good ole fun!
As the hit the base he came to a screeching halt rather than a gradual one and slide a little bit as he leaned back on his derriere. Panting as he regained his breath he looked at his white counterpart and then started to take a peek at the area. There had to be a spot somewhere. The place was huge! So surely they would find something.
His eyes darted frantically looking for some place for them to claim and he wasn't fin---there! His eyes came to a stop on a little ledge behind some bushes just a foot or two off the ground. it looked like there was something they were small enough to both crawl into. "What about that there!" He said excitedly pointing and then running over to inspect what he had seen.
The question was now. Who wanted to go first?

The area seemed to come into view for the cubs near the same time, Koios had opened his mouth to say something, but Areo beat him, great minds think alike, the thought slipped through his mind and he smiled a bit more broadly. "What are we waiting for?" He shouted suddenly and stood up, his legs wobbled briefly, reminding him that he should find a place to seat himself permanently for a while. "Lets go check it out!"
The proclamation was as loud as his shout and he began a slow, but focused wander towards the small cavern, being wary of what could have made its home their. Perhaps they would find some kind of creature?
"What if something thought the same as us?" He pondered out loud to Areo, gazing back at him with wondering eyes seeking comfort in the other, more brave cub.

Green Ever After should we have something be in there?
He looked over at Koios as he asked him if something else might have made it's lair there. He furled his brow for a moment and looked at the small entrance as they got closer. "Well, there'll be two of us and one of it then!" That was cub logic for you. He had complete confidence in this.
"I'll check it out." He pounced up the few rocks and came to a pause by the bush and looked back at his friend, almost for encouragement. He was afraid, just slightly concerned.

Koios watched with pure interest as the cub gallantly strode and leaped up to the small cave they had found. To the pale cub Areo was logical, of course they could defeat any lurker, what could possibly go wrong and what on earth could they find that wouldn't fall prey to their amazing cubby prowess. He wasn't typically so brave as to follow his way up to the mouth of the dark cave, but today he was a new cub facing new things with a strong bond of new friendship. "Come on Areo, we got this!" He gave a small whisper of a yell as something rippled in the darkness. At first the white cub thought he had just been seeing things, but another movement had confirmed there was a movement. He back directly next to the darker cub and hoped that Areo had seen the same thing.
"Can we do this?" He asked out loud, looking at Areo. He huffed slightly as his breath caught in his throat, a little to much noise must of been made and when he looked at the darkness again their were two amber orbs staring back at them. "Areo ..." He almost stuttered. "What is that?" Then silence, Koios was barely breathing at all now and his paws were seemingly frozen to the ground.

He watched as his white companion followed him and it made him feel a bit more reassured that they had this. He gave him a smile and was glad to know he shared the same enthusiasm as he did. He turned his attention towards the small opening where Koios was looking and was about to walk closer to have peek inside when he heard a small yelp come from his friend and he instinctivly crouched low to the ground, almost ready to pounce. He looked inside and didn't see anything at first and was about to nudge his friends shoulder and tell him he was seeing things when he saw something moving as well. "Yea. We got this!" He tried to be assuring.

He was about to just go in and see what was in there when at the same time he saw the eyes and heard his friend speak. What was that was a very good question. It could be anything. He hadn't come across a snake before in his young life so the smell was new to him but it smelled reptilian. Perhaps it wasn't dangerous? Just a small critter in the dark? He heard the rattling before he saw the figure start to come closer to the entrance, as if to show itself to the small cubs. He gulped and looked at Koios. His mom and told him about snakes before and this one wasn't one of the nice kind. "I think we're going to have to find a new spot..." He said taking a couple of small steps back, trying to push Koios back with him.

The movements were going by quickly now, smells filled the young cubs nose that were new and exlierating, but dangerous as well. Something told him it was more than likely best to call it quits and get away, go somewhere else until maybe one day, they could reunite with this cave. "That sounds like a good idea..." Koios said, his voice near whisper again and paws already backing him up as Areo began to push himself backwards. The two cubs must have been a sight to behold backing up the way they were, but there was no time for that, their adventure had become a serious one.
"Come on, it's probably time to head home anyway!" He only said this once the pair were free from the situation they had created, it wasn't getting dark, but it certainly wasn't as bright out as it had been when their day out had begun and Koios was sure he'd been greeted with food when getting home. It was at the thought of food that his stomach growled in the shared silence. "Oh boy, I am hungry, I am going to get something to eat. Same time tomorrow?" He inquired happily.

He looked over at Koios and nodded. He had to agree, it was definitely time to be heading back. Mom was probably worried and who knew what Izzy was going to say. She always had something to say when he was out and about like that. 'Where were you off getting into trouble at?' He could here it now.... "You're probably right!" He said with a smile as he bounded down the little rocks and looked at the sky. When the other mentioned he was hungry his stomah seemed to grumble in response to it. All that adventure had curbed his appetite until now. He looked down and wondered if mom was going to have something or if his siblings had eaten it all already. "I'm famished too! Yes, definintly same time and same place tomorrow!" He gave the white cub a small pounce, giggled, and then dashed off in the direction of home
