"I like the term Renaissance men, or women, in several cases, including mine," Sydney said, still irritated with the "leftovers" comment, but forgiving it after the jack of all trades one. Then they got to the beach.

"It looks... rather rocky," she said, frowning. "But we can get closer to see?" Then she headed forward, not waiting for him to lead this time. She REALLY wanted to go swimming, dadblast it!

Otto now knew how to push this girl's buttons. And he liked that. He stashed that information away, smirking cruelly to himself. He'd leave it for now. He wanted a swimming partner, and pissing them off would not help.

Otto nodded, letting her forge ahead. Rocky was bad. He wasn't as much an idiot as he looked when it came to safety. He liked to goof off, but he liked to get out of it alive, thank you.

"Rocky and... turbulent." He added, standing now on the shore. The waves were going crazy, almost stormy. Likely due to whatever was going on outside the bubble of the island. While no storm would reach them, it certainly did something to the ocean that fell within.

"Well.. uh..." Maybe it only looked bad? Otto moved forward, kicking off his shoes and stepping into the water. He then wondered; did these waters really have man eating beasts?

"I think we should keep looking," Sydney said finally, after staring at the water for a little longer. "Unless you're an exceptionally strong swimmer, that is." She turned and started out again, looking along the beach to see if it was all like that.

"Is that... a forest?" she asked, getting distracted.

"I dunno.." Otto answered. Was he a strong enough swimmer to contend with an angry ocean?Probably not. He stepped out of the water and slipped back into his shoes. So far, this venture was full of disappointments.

Otto turned his sights to the apparent forest in the distance. "Uh.. yeah, I guess so." He'd done some exploring since waking up on the island, but he'd not gone very far into that forest quite yet. "Welp. Third times a charm. Maybe theres a puddle in there to splash in."

She nodded and started forward, letting Izy resume his place around her neck. It was somewhat like a collar on a pet, not that she thought about that often. She was quiet as she walked, still thinking about how the other divisions seemed to see the mists.

It really was interesting. The leftovers, the ones that didn't fit into any one certain mindset. Intelligent enough to do a passable job as a fill-in, but clearly not worthy of doing it all the time. "Not as good as WE are" pretty much.

But they didn't realize that ALL of the other teams were thinking the same thing, possibly. "I'm proud to be a Mist," she said after a moment, a tiny smile pulling at her lips.

Otto raised a brow and snorted. "Still gripin, missy?" Otto commented with snark. "Sure, whatever floats yer boat."

Upon entering the forest... jungle.. mess of a terrain, Otto was wondering if this was worth it. It was ominous, forbidding. Probably dangerous.

"Er.. after you." He offered.

Yep. Let the new chic get eaten so Otto could run.

She looked at him, raising an eyebrow. "So gallant of you," she drawled as she held Izy ready and stepped into the dark, foreboding forest.

Ofie? Perhaps next time I'll invite her, if I find someplace that would be good to swim. To be honest, I don't know anyone well enough to really consider them as a good choice.

"Ain't no Prince Charmin, lady." Otto assured her, not a hint of guilt behind his blue eyes.

Otto followed her in the forest. The eerie plant life sent chills down his spine. He had to wonder if Deus attracted a lot of shady critters of the Halloween variety. It wasn't a place he really felt comfortable taking a dip in, if there was any body of water about.

"I ain't so sure this was a good idea." Still, it wasn't like they had bathtubs to soak in back in the dorms. Communal showers were all a trainee could get.

"There's signs of people having walked through here," Syd said, seeing a few snapped twigs and grass that had been stepped on. "I think there's something worth traveling through the forest for."

If they got lost, she really hoped someone would come looking for them. But somehow she doubted they would. At least she had her phone, she could always call for help!

"If you says so." Otto muttered. He silently assured himself that he would book it at the first sign of danger.

Longer and longer the trails went on, and Otto was starting to get cranky...er.

"I'm boooooored.." He whined, kicking a rock aside. "Any signs of water yet?"

"We're on an island," she said with dark amusement. "No matter what direction you go in, sooner or later you WILL run into water." And she kept going, her expression growing lighter as she heard the sound of waves getting closer. "We're getting closer, though."
PostPosted: Tue Feb 28, 2012 11:45 am

"Sure, so long as it aint killer water.." Otto grunted, spitting to the side and continuing forward. The sound of waves did not seem to quell otto's pessimism. "So? Probably just the other side of the island. Ocean is ocean, chicky. It's gunna be rough on either side."

Otto kicked another rock to the side as he followed along, huffing and stuffing his hands into his pockets.

She ignored him, speeding up. It took a few turns, but she could see the faint trace of a path--

And then she saw it. The cove. The smooth, beautiful (well a hell of a lot better than the other places they'd been to) cove. It had only taken them most of the day to get there, she added dryly.

Rather than say anything to Otto, though, she broke into a run, tugging her coat and shirt off to reveal her bikini top. Once she got to the beach she stopped, folding her clothes up neatly as she slipped the rest of them off, and running into the water.

Totally. Worth it.

And then she ran off.

8/

Otto wondered what was up her a** all of the sudden, when he realized she seemed to be stripping as she ran. What was even... and then he saw what she saw. The cove. Water. Calm water.

Otto jogged after her, stopping where she'd left her things. Well now. They finally found water to swim in.

The trainee shrugged, and kicked off his shoes. "You didn't waste time.." Otto commented, taking off his coat and T-shirt shirt. Unlike Syd, his belongings were tossed into a pile carelessly. With little warning, Otto got a running start and jumped into the water.

He surfaced soon after and let out a contented sigh. "This is awesome." He back stroked around the body of water, taking in how wonderfully relaxing it was to just swim around. ******** the world! It was swim time.

"We should mark the way somehow, so others can find it!" she said, swimming happily. She splashed him, then jerked, her eyes wide as she realized something. "I need sunscreen!" she said, heading for the shore and going through her things. She pulled out her boogey board as well, before spraying herself down with the sunscreen lotion.

"There," she said happily as she headed back into the water. "This would be a good place to have a party," she declared. "Er, not that that was what I came here for," she added, flushing.

Izy drawled.
