Natalia closed her eyes and let the spoon clink against the side of the cup as she removed her hand from it. "Asch, Luke is not a defect so please do not call him that. Nor is he a thief because of what both of your parents decided to do." She might have a bit of resentment for the Fon Fabre parents for what they did. Maybe. "Luke it's true, you are twins."

Despite the venomous anger Asch's words elicited, Luke continued to make every effort to remain as outwardly level as he could manage, even if only as an instinctive reaction to their location. Though he heard the other boy's rant, he chose to ignore it. It was Asch himself, after all, who seemed to think it so unsightly to listen to stupidity. He instead maintained his attention on Natalia.
"So what, you're taking his word over Mother's and Father's, just because we look alike? Some random guy shows up looking like me, makes a few ridiculous claims about me, and you believe him because-- Why is that, exactly? Help me out here, Natalia, because I just can't fathom why you're buying into this crap."
He couldn't help but think that he was supposed to laugh at this whole situation like some kind of bad joke taken too far. It was true that Luke's memories only went back so far, but how did that, in any way, prove that he was raised into a lie? He wouldn't accept that - not as easily as Natalia had.

Of course he wasn't listening. Why would Asch have any reason to expect otherwise? This was an effort in futility. An effort he only bothered with because Natalia asked him to. His words were falling on deaf ears, and he was wasting his breath. Asch's patience was drawing ever thinner. If it wasn't for Natalia, he would have tried to beat some sense into his foolish twin by now.
Instead, Asch remained sitting where he was in silence, for now.

"Because he remembers things he should not know unless it was true." Natalia opened her eyes and looked at Luke. "Things no one but I and one other knew, things that only Guy and one other knew." She shook her head slightly. "Have you ever wondered why your mother coddled you so much? It would make sense that it wasn't just because of the incident but also because she had never spent much time with you in the first place."

Luke's hands clenched into fists in his lap and locked his eyes on the table in front of him; there wasn't much he could think to say in rebuttal to that, and that only made his disposition more unpleasant as a result. "Okay, assume - hypothetically - that this crazy story is true," he turned his gaze once more to Natalia. "Then why would my parents build up this huge, complicated lie? And what, you think they would have lied to me for the rest of my life if I stayed there? You think they'd keep right on lying if I went back?" He closed his eyes briefly, breathed a steadying sigh, and turned back forward. "I'm not going to believe this."

At the mention of his mother, something changed in Asch's expression. He looked almost.. sad. He continued to sit in silence, his gaze also fixed down on the table. But when Luke opened that stupid hole in his face again, Asch's features hardened once more.
"You selfish b*****d..." he muttered under his breath.

"I don't know Luke." Natalia said and folded her hands in her lap to not show how tense they were. "That would be something you would have to take up with them. I don't know how they would react to you knowing about Asch though." She missed the look on Asch's face, having been watching Luke, but that might be a good thing. After all she would have been tempted to reach over and hold his hand.
The noble woman straightened up a bit when she heard Luke didn't believe them, believe her. "That's fine you don't believe it right now. Talk to Guy. Talk to your parents. Find evidence since you obviously need it." She said then turned her attention to her tea to cool down the hidden sting.

"Fine," he stood suddenly, pushing in his seat with a force that rattled the cups on the table. He wasn't going to be able to maintain the civil demeanor that Natalia had forced on him by bringing their discussion there if he had to stay there much longer. He paused only momentarily to give a parting word over his shoulder, "Sorry." Intended for Natalia, of course; as pissed off as he was, even Luke could recognize that he hadn't been particularly pleasant toward his friend.

Asch still said nothing, not at all reacting as Luke rose and made his departure. Good riddance really. He was not at all sorry to see his twin leave. He'd rather have as much distance from him as possible. Hmph. He was supposed to stay on that island, in that manor. Van had promised him he would. So then what the hell happened? Why was HE here to begin with? One thing was right though... that idiot was definitely sorry.
Once Luke had left, Asch finally lifted his gaze towards Natalia.

At the apology Natalia gave a nod, though she didn't look up to watch him leave. When he left the private room her shoulders slumped slightly and she let out a sigh. "Well that could have gone better." the blond absently said before shaking her head and looking over at Asch and found him looking back. A light blush crossed her cheeks then she straightened up properly. Guess she would get that time with Asch after all. If he stayed that was.
"Oh yes, I have something for you..." She said to break the silence then picked the box she had been carrying off the floor where she had carefully set it then held it out for Asch. The blush darkened slightly though.

"It was to be expected," Asch said in an aloof manner as he picked up his tea cup again and sipped. His expectations of that idiot were low, and remained thus.
Asch blinked once as Natalia announced that she had something... for him? It amazed him that Natalia was acting this way, even after how things ended the last time they had spoke. Even after she discovered that he had stolen Rosie's Pokemon. He didn't really understand, but he didn't complain.
Instead he took the box from her and carefully opened it. His expression softened into a small smile appeared as he finally beheld the contents. "Chocolate," he said, stating the obvious. How utterly predictable for valentine's day, and yet incredibly thoughtful. The bitter thoughts of the previous conversation with Luke slowly starting to melt away.

Sure she had been extremely upset at both Asch and Guy last time but Natalia had tried to at least put that aside for Valentines and it had worked. Though how long it will work when she really ponders about who's pokemon Asch stole was another thing and probably wont happen until later.
"I hope you like it." she said with a smile then picked up her tea cup and took a sip. "Ah and... don't worry I didn't make it." She wasn't sure if he remembered how bad of a cook she was back then but she knew she hadn't improved in the slightest over the years, despite quite a few attempts on her part as well.

Asch chuckled lightly at Natalia's assurance that she hadn't made it and closed the box again. He would certainly save that for later. "Thank you," he said sincerely before setting the box aside. He paused for a moment in thought, before eventually reaching into his pocket.
What he produced was a necklace with a labradorite pendant, holding it out in his hand. "Here, this is for you."

"You're welcome." Natalia set her tea cup down once again when Asch pulled out a necklace and a look of surprise briefly flashed in her eyes. "Oh it beautiful." She said with a smile as she gently took it to look it over more closely. "Thank you Asch." She lightly rubbed the pendant with her thumb then after a moments pause, slipped it around her neck.

Asch watched as Natalia took it and put it on, glad that she seemed to like it.
"It looks good on you," he remarked, admiring the glittering stone within the dim lighting of the room. "My friend of mine that passed away... it belonged to her. I wanted you to have it."
He had removed the necklace from Vahy'n shortly after Aila's memorial service. He had only put it on the Vaporeon in tribute to his former partner. But now it held even more significance as he gave it to Natalia. It was a step in putting certain things behind him and making them right.
