Some of the thread had managed to get past him, stinging his flank, and he jumped between. Thankfully it wasn't to bad, only a minor score, and he wasn't about to let that stop him.

((Brown Nachith: Agility +1; HP 47/47 Thread Burned: 8 (13 total) Dodged!))
Some bronze wants to make wings, Nachith related distractedly to His while he flamed again.
Don't bother, stay focused. He's not one of ours. Even if B'ram craved the security of a wing more than ever, he wasn't about to team up with anyone not from Malvren. How could they now to trust them?
Still, neither of the pair allowed their quick exchange to endanger them, and they continued to fly unscathed.

(Blue Kameth: Agility +1; HP 45/45)
Wykla narrowed her eyes and watched the other riders. There was a surprising number come to investigate, or was it interrogate, the Holdless. Insults and counter insults were flying fast. It was good they were all adragonback lest it come to blows. So wrapped up in observation of people and dragons, the pair nearly failed to notice the silent, deadly enemy falling towards them. A flick of silver out of the corner of her eye.
Kameth!! she mindscreamed to the blue. The dragon took immediate evasive action in a wingover. Wykla clung tightly to the straps holding her as she crouched as low as she could; grateful once more for being so small. They had to get enough room that Kameth could bring his flame to bear.

They were fast. But Thread was faster. Thin strands laced at both dragon and rider. Wykla's scream was echoed by her dragon's bellow before he took them between. They returned with fire in their eyes and Kameth's mouth. Thread shriveled to nothing.

((Bronze Pipith: Agility +2; HP: 65/65 Thread Burned: 10 (22 total) Threadscored!))
Listen! We will kill each other sure as Thread if we fly this way! he tried again to appeal to his fellow dragons. He wanted to live, thank you, but his first motivation was that he wanted to be able to say what he had done, or at the very least tried to do. Either way, surely it would count for something.
The bronze spouted another flame, and case in point, had to wheel quickly away to avoid colliding with another dragon. This sent them into Thread, and he was forced between to be rid of it.

The thread had seared Set'al's leg and Pipith's shoulder, but they re-emerged from the cold darkness to resume their fight, and hope that someone listened before anyone died from an avoidable accident.

(Green Dynith: Agility +2; HP 35/35)
It was all going horribly wrong! Optheli stroked the soft hide in front of her in an attempt to sooth her and the green. They shouldn't be arguing like this. So wrapped up with small things they had all failed to notice the very large. It was a mistake that cost several their lives. Optheli felt a tear run down her cheek for them, and in turn for those still there.
Practice allowed her to coax her dragon to accept the firestone they carried. Those who died would not have done so in vain. Take it and chew it well Dynith. Now sear! The mental encouragement was automatic. She knew what the dragon needed, and the green knew how to do it.

Z'fer // Calanoth Burn Post
Hp: 64 Lives: 3 DmgRed: -3 T. Burned: 9
Calanoth's eyes whirled red where he hovered, teeth bared at two riders from Benden. Z'fer was in the process of taunting them to the ground, his hand on the hilt of his belt knife.
Their response was lost in the scream from the injured bronze. Z'fer whipped his head toward the noise in shock watching as the dragon writhed in agony as it fell. Calanoth bugled in alarm as two other dragons followed in rapid succession. A flicker of fear crossed Z'fer's face as he scanned the mass of dragons in the air trying to figure out why the three had fallen.
-Thread!- Calanoth's neck craned back to Z'fer's side, his mouth already open wide. Z'fer blinked, snapped out of his shock. Thread? Now? 7 turns of training had already taken hold though, even as the stunned rider tried to wrap his brain around this revelation he'd begun feeding the large bronze stone upon stone of phosphorescent rock. Calanoth swooped into action, dropping altitude to avoid collision with the smaller colors. He flamed at the first patch he saw.
Z'fer gave an exhilarated whoop as the adrenaline kicked in. THIS is what he was born to do!

(Bronze Scarath: Agility -4; HP 62/62)
S'kor wasn't exactly sure the reasoning behind the other Weyr's accusations of the Holdless. He wanted to hear the story from them directly. Except they never got to. The moment riders of other Weyrs arrived rivalry broke out. He frowned at the bickering. Shouldn't someone who didn't have it out for the Holdless ask the questions? At least that was how he felt.
Until the unthinkable happened. Dragons fell screaming from the sky and the great bronze between his legs sounded the death keen. S'kor shuddered, not quite getting what had happened so suddenly. Mine! The bronze shout woke him. I need firestone, give it to me! Scarath craned his long neck around mouth open.
He found that he couldn't refuse the dragon's demand. They were dragon and rider; meant to sear this threat from the skies. S'kor reached into his bag and pitched several pieces into the large waiting mouth. Pipith calls! Eyes whirling red, Scarath surged forward breathing flames. We come.

(10 -4 = 14; HP: 48 )
Not all the training in the world could have prepared them for the reality. If they had been ready for this, who knew what might have happened. Instead focused on other matters the pair flew through the clump the bronze had tried to sear. Most of it had gone up in flames, but not all. Some of it found tender dragon shoulders and rider arms. A bellow from Scarath made him react quickly and take them safely between.

Z'fer // Calanoth Damage Post
Hp: 53/64 Lives: 3 DmgRed: +3 T. Burned: 9
Calanoth has just turned to sear another patch when he was caught on the withers. He roared in pain as they flickered between.
Z'fer echoed his dragons cry, feeling the searing pain of thread down his neck as a piece slipped through the collar of his flight jacket.
-Mine! I am sorry!-

Hmph. Blocking out any further calls, the slender brown chose to take care of himself, keeping a careful eye on his surroundings so as not to flame anything but Thread. B'ram kept feeding him firestone despite his nerves, and the slender brown kept fighting.

((Bronze Pipith: Agility +2; HP: 61/65 Thread Burned: 3 (25 total) Threadscored!))
Pipith was pleasantly surprised when the larger bronze answered him, and it fueled both his ego and his determination. You will be my second, he declared when Scarath flashed back from between, determining it was best to get pecking order straight now - with him at the top, of course. It looked like he'd taken a good hit, and Dynith one as well, but nothing that was enough to take them from the air. Come, Dynith, Scarath, let us fly high - above these fools, where they won't hinder us.
Three was probably the saddest 'wing' Pern had ever known, but it was better than no wing at all. He consulted with his rider and relayed a maneuver they all should know, and after burning away another tangle of thread, he let out a sharp bugle. Anyone else who doesn't wish to die, to me!
