Amphi watched both of her friends take her advice on the questions they asked, both practicing and testing. She flushed as Lizzy looked down at her own body and nodded. "Yes...Yes. I am not sure how boils float too because they seem to never have any fat on their bones but...."
She watched carefully as Xiu dived down, collecting the floaties for Xiu for when she resurfaced.
As she did so, Amphi handed them back and smiled.
"There! I am so glad I could help with this you guys." She clapped her hand before nodding. "Yes there is no possible way that we'd see the giant fish from the bottom of the lake up here. I mean....Its only cause I swam so far down that it was chasing me-" She broke off, her face blanching. "I MEAN WERE GOOD, WE REALLY ARE. THIS IS REALLY FUN AND SWIMMING."

"YAY XIU! YAY SWIMMING!" Lizzy clapped for Xiu's brave diving attempt, and decided to focus on the most important part of Amphi's words; besides, she was sure that this lake was completely safe, and that they were just getting upset over nothing. Holding onto her inner tube, she started paddling in a circle around Amphi, playfully splashing some water on both her friends with one hand.
... Hey this is sort of fun.
Slowly letting her inner tube go, and relying mostly on the arm floaties to keep herself above water, although she was treading water too. With a grin and a giggle, she splashed even more water onto both her friends, using both her hands this time, to create a larger spray of water.

Xiu's cheeks turned pink at Lizzy's clapping, and she shot her two friends a happy grin as she took her floaties back from Amphi, sliding them back on. Maybe this swimming thing wasn't so hard after all! She would definitely have to request to go swimming with Amphi and Lizzy more often!
The baku was snapped out of her thoughts when she was suddenly hit by a splash of water. Blinking in surprise, she turned in confusion, her eyes falling on Lizzy. What just happened--oh. Oh. At once, a wide grin spread over the baku's face, and she pushed herself back from her friends, putting some distance between them.
It was on.
Giggling, Xiu cupped her hands together and sent a big splash of water forward, first at one of the ghouls, and then the other. She then immediately turned and tried to swim away as fast as she could, which was...well, not very fast, but that was okay. She didn't expect for her friends to let her get away so easily anyways.

Amphi was glad her two friends were enjoying swimming. it was something that Amphi enjoyed a lot and just...It was something she wanted to share.
"Yes! Yay swimming!" She smiled before taking water in the face. Her face was much like:

As Lizzy continued her onslaught. The floaties being taken off as Lizzy held herself up. Amphi felt like a proud mama at Lizzy and then she splashed her back, her own voice breaking in a giggle.
"H...Hey!" Amphi then looked at Xiu who got her too and she returned the sprays of water. Before she knew it, she was swimming around the two ghouls, dodging water, taking water in the face and diving to get around the two.
She was so EXCITED by the play in the water that she started to hum and then broke out into a soft melody, still splashing the ghouls.
"Back to the place
Where we used to say
Man it feels good to feel this way
Now I know what I mean
Back to the street, back to the place,
Back to the room where it all began, hey

She repeated as she continued to sing. her friends, sun and water. She couldn't be anymore happier in this moment then now. When she finished her song though, she smiled at the two ghouls and with a deep vreath said....
"I have a gift for you two..." She smiled..."But it'd probably be better to give it too you out of water...."

Oh... Oh no, she did not!
"Nooooo, Xiuuuuuuuuu," She whined, swimming after the Baku; sadly, she wasn't a very strong swimmer herself, so even if Xiu wasn't going very fast, Lizzy was still having some trouble catching up. When Amphi returned the attack, she giggled, unable to keep the joy from bubbling up and out as she countered with another spray of water, eyes closed and head turned away to minimize the amount of water from getting in.
She didn't know when the mermaid first started to sing, and while she had never heard her sing before, it seemed... Natural. The fact that Amphi was actually singing a song didn't completely sink in till a few sentences in; whatever worries she had about drowning, or being chased by giant fish faded, and she hardly noticed that she was actually not on dry land. Her focus was on her friends, their smiles, and her own enjoyment.
"Oh?" She blinked at Amphi, curious about this gift, "Hmm, do you guys want to get out now? We still have the snacks to eat, and tea to drink." She giggled, having almost forgotten about the goodies on the table set up not far from the lake.

Xiu giggled wildly, paddling harder when Lizzy swam after her. She dipped left and right in an attempt to avoid her friends' splashing, but her efforts proved futile for about 99% of the the time. This was honestly one of the first--if not the first--time she had had a water fight with anyone, and she was really enjoying it.
Even if it did mean getting water in her eyes and mouth.
It wasn't until Amphi started singing did the baku finally stop paddling away, letting herself drift closer to her friends. Xiu cocked her head to the side, her eyes growing wide with wonder. Oh...she didn't know that Amphi sung! And not only that, but she had a lovely voice! The ghoul felt her lips spread into a grin as she pushed herself closer to Lizzy and Amphi. For a moment, she forgot everything else--her worries, her fears--and simply listened in contentment.
She beamed when the mermaid finished, lifting her hands out of the water and clapping. When the topic of a gift was brought up, however, her expression changed to one of curiosity. "Oh? Well, it'll be nice to take a break and have some refreshments," Xiu agreed, offering Lizzy a smile and nod of agreement.
She then proceeded to slowly and awkwardly swim out towards the edge of the lake so that she could get out.

They had run from each other in a playful fit of water fighting, and then came back together. Amphi didn't blush for once at the clapping and praise from her friends before nodding at the two.
"Ah! I almost forgot I set up all that out there..." She blinked as she watched Xiu and Lizzy swim to the shore, her hands took both of the ghoul's as she smiled (for once) mischievously. While Xiu's and Lizzy's swimming was ADORABLE, Amphi was too excited now by the gift she had JUST thought about giving them.
She kicked with her tail, pulling the ghouls along like floating dolls and then depoisted them close enough that they could just stand and walk out. She , on the other hand, flopped out of the water with only the grace of a mermaid can and waited for her legs to shift back.
It took a couple minutes for the tail to dry enough, splitting apart into her legs and being replaced with the bathing suit bottom she wore before. Standing, wobbly for a second, she waved to the ghouls and then headed over to the table. "Okay...Okay my gift is-" She cut off...."Oh wait! Let's get drinks and eat something first. Swimming can be very tiring and draining of energy! At least for Landwalkers I heard it is...." She beamed at her friends, gesturing to the spookies and tea contributed by both the ghouls. "And THEN I'll give it you two."

Lizzy was swimming with all the grace of a spider in water - which was probably a negative number - trying to get back to shore, when Amphi came along and rescued her from further exhaustion. She giggled as she was tugged along, letting out a delighted cheer, raising her free hand up into the air; this was surprisingly fun!
When she was deposited near the shore, her feet found the bottom of the lake quickly enough, and she walked out of the water, glad to be back on dry land; as much as she had enjoyed the swim, she was also relieved to be walking again. Waiting for Amphi to get her legs back, she wrung her hair dry, trying to get as much water out as possible.
"Ohh, you're being a tease today, Amphi!" She giggled at the mermaid, following her to the table, deflating her arm floaties on the way; the fact that Amphi was keeping this 'gift' a secret made it all rather exciting though, "I guess I am a little hungry... And thirsty too." So maybe some snacks first wasn't a bad idea.

Xiu was more than content to let herself by pulled along by the experienced swimming, her body growing as limp as a ragdoll kitten. Like Lizzy, she found herself unable to resist giggling and even--every so often--splashing a little water at the spider demoness.
When they were brought to the shore, Xiu took a few moments to stand in the water-submerged sand, wriggling her toes. What a strange texture it was! It was soft, and squishy, and--
The baku looked up when she heard Amphi's call, a grin spreading over her lips. Clasping her hands behind her back, she skipped after her friends, snatching up her towel on the way so that she could dry herself off. "Oh, you're making us so curious, Amphi!" She puffed out her cheeks in a pout, but the smile returned to her face almost immediately after. Leaning forward, she pulled out the cups that she had packed, along with the chilled thermos of tea.
"There's nothing nicer than having a swim and a snack with friends," She chirped, pouring out the tea and sliding the cups over to both of the ghouls.

"Curious is good!" Amphi giggled before spreading out the snacks and spookies for the ghouls. She collected her own plate and cup, then took a seat on the towels that were spread out, waiting for the other two to join her.
Taking a deep breath, she concetrated on the gift she wanted to gift, the water pooling in her hands to form two small pins. Her pins.
"I want...to give you to my pin!" She took one in each hand and held those same hands out to the ghouls. "If you'll accept them...."
"Because you two are my best friends...."

"I agree!" She smiled, nodding at Xiu's comment, "Things taste sweeter when it's shared with friends... And this place is surprisingly good for a picnic!"
Before she could drink or eat anything though, Amphi finally revealed what she was planning to give them... And Lizzy found herself simply staring at the pin, not quite sure how to respond. It came as a surprise, after all, although Lizzy couldn't stop smiling when she realized that Amphi considered her a 'best friend'. Since she was at a loss for words, the demoness simply enveloped Amphi in a hug, tugging Xiu in as well.
"I love the two of you very much," She muttered happily.

Like Lizzy, Xiu simply stared at the pin, her mouth slightly agape as she stared down at the object. She had never expected for this to be Amphi's gift, but after giving it a moment to sink in, the baku's chest filled with warmth. A best friend, huh? Yes, both Amphi and Lizzy were dear to her as well.
She let herself be pulled into the hug with no complaints, winding her arms tightly around the other two ghouls. "I love you guys too," She declared brightly, "I feel really lucky to have met you two."
And to think, she had met Amphi after the mermaid had gotten lost in the demon dorms!

Amphi opened her arms for the hug as well, taking it graciously as the ghouls accepted her pins and smiled.
"Thank you for taking care of me...." She said to the two and her grin got only wider....Then she ducked her head shyly and blushed at the two.
"I lov...love you...you guys too..." She mumbled and then blushed deepened. "I am really glad I met you two."
Too think, it would be sad never to meet the two demoness's. One because of a odd situation, and the other because she had been lost.
"Ah...okay....We should probably head back soon though. I was thankful you guys were even able to spare the time now, I am sure you guys have lots to do..." She pulled back, "But if you ever feel like swimming, Please come visit me!"

Lizzy was grateful for the brief heartache, if only it gave her the opportunity to meet Amphi... Of course, it helped that she was the sweetest mermaid.
"Yes!" She smiled, looking at the ghouls in front of her, "Let's finish up and head back inside?" Although it was getting late, it would be a shame to not eat at least some of the snacks, since they clearly went through the trouble of preparing them. She didn't realize that they had spent so much time in the water; that was definitely a first for her, "I would love to go swimming again!"

It was for reasons like these that Xiu was grateful she had come to Amityville. Where would she be now without Amphi, Lizzy, and all her other friends, she wondered? Even though all the darkest times, just spending time with them like this guaranteed that her day would be brightened.
"Let's!" The baku agreed, nodding at the spider demoness' suggestion before turning to look at the mermaid, "And yes, please! We should definitely do this again sometime." There was nothing more fun than swimming with friends, even if...well, even if Xiu kind of sucked at the swimming part, but was okay! If today was anything to go by, it was obviously much easier to learn a task--and much more enjoyable--if you had friends guiding you along.
As it was getting late, they had to finish up what they could of the snacks rather quickly before it was time to go. Xiu helped pack up some of the leftover things before pushing herself up to her feet and stretching. "We'll have a plan another day like this sometime! Until then, I'll see you guys around, okay?"
And with another round of hugs, they head back to the school.Dragain WOW I AM SORRY, YOU GUYS. What a busy summer :C But since it sounded like we were tying things up, I did a (REALLY BAD) closing post. OTL
