The mare nodded. "Of course I can... I don't know if its the mirrored eyes that causes it always. But..." she frowned and looked to her and gave a defeated sigh. "I'm sorry, Glacier, I feel this is my fault. And I fear you will be angry with me because, well, I do not view it as a bad thing."

Glacier looked incredulously at her. "How is this a good thing?" he stuttered, wincing a bit as it came off sounding more harsh than he intended it to be. He gave a heavy sigh, "Don't get me wrong, Laikaylah, I love him so very much - but I'm so worried! How will he avoid dangers? How must it feel to be denied all the beauty in this world?"

"For one, he has us," she said, stepping close to nuzzle the thick, soft fur of her mate's neck, "We won't let any harm to come him, you know that. And you'll be surprised how fast he'll learn. He'll be frolicking about the meadow just like his brothers. And he'll be able to hear a coyote's breath long before our eyes can see."
She paused and looked back over to him, puffing out her chest in a bit of pride, "And even though he can't see... there is so much beauty in the world we sometimes take for granted. Things you can't see - like the sound of birds or feel of cool water. He'll never miss it."

Glacier looked comforted at her words, releasing a breath and meeting Laikaylah's beautiful silver eyes. "You're right. I just want to protect them all so much. Its hard for me to think that he has some kind of ... disadvantage in the world, you understand? There will come a time in his life we may not be able to be there for him. Or maybe he won't want to be around his parents all the time, you know how stallions are."

Laikaylah gave her own chuckle. "Yes, I know." She nudged Glacier playfully. "I still think you may be surprised how well he will get along without us. But perhaps we can find him a pet of sorts... just in case. A companion, don't you think? Maybe something that could have him navigate bad terrain and sucj - but not quite as suffocating as having Mommy and Daddy around all the time?" She smiled to her mate, wondering his thoughts.

Glacier's smile warmed. "I like that idea!" He had seen other Soquili with such familiars - animals that shared a close bond with their Soquili counterparts. "Thank you, Laikaylah, for easing my mind. He's perfect. Just as perfect as his brothers!" He nuzzled her again, and felt at peace.
