There was something off about the pause before the response, and the manner in which it was given, and Rio tipped his head, regarding Kios thoughtfully. To pry, or not to pry?
...it was a silly question, really. "Do you not like to use your powers?"

"It's not like that !" The retort came quickly, cheeks coloring with obvious embarrassment, Really, this was just silly - what kind of god was scared of his own power ? Powers. He had no idea what he could even do, actually.
"It is just... Well, last time I did, it hurt. A lot." ...That made sense, right ?

That wasn't at all the sort of answer Rio had been expecting, not that he was entirely sure what he had been. Still, it was definitely not that. The look he gave Akakios was clearly puzzled. "It hurt? What were you doing?"

Well, of course his uncle would pry. It was what Rio did.
He was silent until the ink was acquired, and silent until they had left the hustle and bustle of the market - it was obvious that Lament wasn't comfortable discussing this where many could have heard.
"I was... writing. Then things got really weird. I couldn't stop. I just couldn't. THen I just... Well. This." It was pretty obvious what he'd meant. "It really did hurt... A lot." And he'd scared Tasia and Echo half to death in the process.
But of course, he was not a reborn god. He'd never been a gem, he'd never had to change before.

"Oh. It was growing that hurt, then, and not your power. I don't think you have to worry about that happening again anytime soon. It will take time for you to ascend as your parents have. Much like how it took time for you to grow from child to this, yes?"
Rio stretched his ragged wings. "Even then, I doubt it will be so painful, since you probably won't be growing as much physically."
"It hurt when I first took over from my host, but that was mostly because I grew wings. The second time, it felt strange, but...it wasn't painful. Except for the part where I slipped and hit my head in the shower."

That did kind of make sense. But why had it acted like that to begin with ? Well... Rio probably wouldn't know.
But... "In the shower ?" Really ? Okay, that... was kinda funny. Good thing he hadn't, because he probably would have his his head, too. "I guess..." He hadn't really thought about that.

"It was rather inconvenient timing." Rio laughed, well aware how ridiculous it was, and that was part of why he'd shared. Maybe it would make Kios feel a little better. "It'll all get better, and make more sense, with time."

"I really do hope so, because right now everything's just confusing." He admitted, still a little sheepish.
Part of him just wished he'd had someone to truly relate with. Rio was doing his best, he knew, but it wasn't exactly the same. His siblings had not lived this yet, and the other children... Well. he had no idea where they were, or how to find them.
Having to make himself a place among their gods who had once had centuries, milleniums of influence, expecially if there had indeed been one of the same influence, before the fading, that was not him... Well, that was a daunting task, really.
He looked rather thoughtful, and did ponder asking... But why would Love have known the old Lament ? So he let it slide.

"Oh, just thinking." He admitted. Really, that was all there was to it, really. There'd been someone before him, but he was not that person. He was simply... curious as to what his predecessor had been like, like he was curious about so many things.
"I certainly like being tall, through." He said, amused. Really, how many times had he complained about being so short ?

"Really, it is !" Not that Rio ever had that problem, probably. Kikechum might, through, since Enkepe was so tiny, but the others all took to adult, matured hosts, as far as he was aware of.
Good thing he'd never asked his mother, or he'd be very surprised.
"I should probably get going, trough... Let me know when Adi comes back ?" The little werewolf would probably want to tell him of her journey, after all. "And drop by, sometime ?"

The question first seemed to surprise him - left him to blink once, twice - but he finally did answer. "I still live with her, yes." It hadn't really occurred to him, not yet, that he could technically strike out on his own now. Have his own space to do what he wished in, and living spaces his aoidei wouldn't need to share.
Hmmm. He certainly had much more to think about, now.

Kios' surprised blink made it clear that the godling hadn't yet considered moving out. Oh, dear! He hoped Echo would forgive him for suggesting it, but...he was old enough now, and if anyone needed their own space, it was a god. "You should think about going to see Harmodius, if you decide you want a space of your own."
"I imagine he'd be pleased to see you grown, as well."
