Ah so one did not eat the glowing ones. Good to know. Looking at the other student kind wondered if he was studying to become something of a botanist, or a medicine man. Did they have medicine men here? Hard to say. Either way, he nodded, leaving them as they were. "I take if you know a lot about the native plants?" At the offering of mushrooms. "Thank you, ah-" Still in wolf form he twisted his head a bit before trying to take a nibble, careful to get the boil's finger by mistake. He also hoped that he was supposed to eat these ones.

Jove gave King a curious look, and then shook his head. He didn't know much about the plants in the forest, and although he had read books and seen pictures he wasn't very good at naming them either. It was easy for a thing to not have a name when he spoke so little, so many plants were described in his mind with titles like "spiky leafed thing" or "big twisty tree". Now, mushrooms on the other hand, he knew very well. Mushrooms and decay. He knew rotting things, and the fungi that lived in them. So when King nibbled on the mushrooms he offered without reservations, it made the pup feel better than he had in days. With the beginnings of a tail wag, Jove trotted deeper into the woods, only stopping to pluck another pair of pale mushrooms from the soil. One he popped in his own mouth, the other he offered to King. Almost like he was luring the other canine in.

Ah they were... a bit earthy but quite good considering. Finishing off the mushrooms Jove had offered, King licked his chops. Sadly though Jove didn't know about the plants, King figured he was smart enough and he had no reason not to trust the other ghost's judgement. At worse, he'd get an upset stomach. The tail wag didn't go unnoticed either, as it gained a similar reaction from King. One good wag deserved another. Following Jove further into the words, the wolfos sniffed at the second mushroom offered. "Thank you. I was unaware the woods here had hese morsels. Do you find them often?" Taking it from Jove's hand there was minimal chewing involved, but it was still eaten. "Are there more nearby?"

Jove nodded, ears perked straight up. With the talk of the forest and the mushrooms he loved best, some enthusiasm was starting to peek through the mask of apathy he had started the night with. His tail swished with a greater vigor, curling up and over itself to touch his lower back. Showing King the mushrooms was a much-needed break from his worries. Trotting a little farther, Jove crouched to brush some leaves out of the way, and then blew the dirt off what looked like little round puffs just sitting on the ground. He plucked a couple, made another attempt at blowing off the dirt, and then cracked one in half. He showed the spongy interior to King, and then held it out with a flat hand.

The mushrooms were unexpectedly, quite tasty. King was used to more meatier things, but these had a nice woodsy taste to them. Earthly, natural. Much unlike the things King was getting accustomed to in the school, (half the time he was sure what ever it was he got, was still very much alive). Jove trotted off, and King was quick to get up and follow. Gingerly, he took the offered half and ate that too. "I feel like I should be replaying the favor. Perhaps, would you like me to see if I might catch you a wild hare?" He'd seen a few moon rabbits so- hey, never knew.

Jove munched quite contentedly on the other half of the puffball, tail wagging behind him. Had he known the other canine's thoughts he would have been amused. Not all the food at school was that questionable, and not all the food at school was found in the cafeteria. Jove had food brought back from the maul on occasion, and he was never one to turn down a dinner of home-baked spookies. But when King spoke up again, Jove's curiosity was evident in the perk of his ears and the curl of his tail. Catch... a wild hare? King could do that? Jove had chased wild rabbits before, usually just for the run. He never tried to actually catch them, only run after them. In his natural form or his human form, he was often a fair match for the little things. Although it would be quite the sight, to see a wolf as large as King catch one.

King was getting more happy. Whatever he'd done or said seemed to be making the boil happier, which was what King hoped for. No reason to be depressed on such a nice night after all. Ears flicking the the cracks and shuffles of leaves around them, King grinned as best a wolf could. "Hrm, so the idea interests you? Very well. Let's see here.." Sniffing around there wasn't much to go by. their scent having been in the area for a while. But then king got a lucky break. It was faint but- Ears went on high alert as the wolfos crouched down, stalking over to some nearby bushes. Hare or not, whatever it was, he was going to catch it.

Jove's ears swiveled likewise. The rustling was a sound he paid little attention to in the past, but as he lifted his nose to the air, he realized it was indeed some small herbivore-type animal. Good for a chase! The little pup's feet made very little noise on the dry forest floor as he padded along behind the larger wolf, a silent waif in his white nightshirt. If he were in his natural form he would stalk too, crouch down low to the ground, muscles readying themselves to leap into a run at a moment's notice. But even in his human form the excitement was getting to him.

One paw in front of the other, King got as close as he could before stopping. It was a hare. Well, a strawberry dustbunny. Close enough. It's head swiveled and say the boils, remaining for a time unmoving. One benefit about being dead was you didn't have to breathe. King was statuesque. The second it's ear twiched he launched himself, jaws narrowly missing, snapping at air before it was bounding by Jove. King was coming from behind, focused on the bunny and less the other student.

Jove was as still as stone as the little bunny stared, and the second things exploded into movement, Jove was also on the creature's tail. He dodged King's charge and took off after the rabbit as well. It was fast, agile, darting away from the pup in human skin, but having only two legs for running didn't hinder Jove in the slightest. He didn't have to rely entirely on ground traction, so when the rabbit swerved he used the trees and terrain to his advantage, pushing off trees and swinging around saplings to abruptly change his direction. When he grabbed a branch overhead to hurdle over a muddy patch of ground it inadvertently showed off dark bruises above the waistline of his mushroom-patterned shorts. For once the pup was too busy to care about indecency.

Speed, agility, stamina, all played a role in the hunt. Claws dug into the earth as he propelled himself forward, and when it darted, he used the trees and rocks as leverage. A quick glance at Jove, and he almost lost sight of the bunny. Had those been marks on his skin? No matter. He was honing in on the bunny. A twist around a tree and he shortened the distance with a slight turn. Fangs snapped as he got behind the bunny and- Snap!He felt it wiggling in his jaws, leg caught. Looking at Jove he waited. They had caught their hare, but, did he want any?

Jove skidded to a stop right behind King and approached hesitantly. He showed no sign of exertion after the sprint, no extra colour in his cheeks or breathing hard, he wasn't even breathing at all. One benefit of being a ghost. He would never worry about getting all red-faced and sweaty. He leaned in to look at the rabbit. King had it by the leg, in his sharp teeth. There was blood, and the thing was squirming... Jove had never actually caught a rabbit before, only chased it until he got bored or found something better to do. He might have been a canine denizen of Halloween, but he was a tame pup. Not a hunter. And he wasn't entirely sure he liked this new variant of the chasing game.

Ear went back as he saw Jove's face. Had he not known? The hunt ended with- there was little he could do. The leg was broken and the bunny would be swift prey for anything else roaming, the scent of blood a siren's call. Tossing the rabbit in the air it landed in his jaws and with a simple crunch it went limp. It was a rather fast death all things considered. Setting the bunny down he sat next to it. "....You are free to share with me or..." the pup's face did not seem comfortable in the slightest. "I will understand if it is not to your liking. Not all..hunt...as I do."

Jove seemed confused as he watched King kill the rabbit and set it down. It didn't squirm anymore. He reached out and touched it, for some reason he was surprised it was still warm. He had never thought about it before, having experience only with things that dissipated when they died, so it hadn't occurred to him that it would retain it's warmth. He nudged it, almost expecting it to wake up. The wisp then made a confused little noise in the back of his throat, and glanced at King for an explanation, or instruction as to what was going to happen with it. It was clear the pup didn't fully understand what had just happened.

The wolfos's head turned on it's side. Had he never caught something before? Or rather- had he never hunt before? King had known it his whole life but, did this one not? To him the idea of not knowing how to hunt was a bit shocking really. Did he expect it to heal? To get up and walk away? He sighed. "I can assure you, my fangs did their work. It is not lingering in pain." A paw went onto the rabbit's body, pinning it down and King bent over and to the head into his mouth. A crack, and a yank. The head was bitten cleaning off, a bit of strawberry red blood staining the ghost's jaws.
"It's very good, a bit fruitier than the ones back home but quite delicious." He nudged it towards Jove. The pup had shared his mushrooms, now King wanted to share his kill.
