((Quite alright, Jes! ^^ It doesn't kill to wait for a reply, and it was worth it. 3nodding ))
Suzaku smiled again, this time her tongue hanging out a bit in more of a grin as she sat, excited to meet a new wolf.
"I don't know!" She chirped honestly in response to his very last question. "My brothers and I got seperated from our parents land, in the storm a while ago. I don't remember how far away home is... but me and Helaku have explored for a couple of days." She seemed to brighten more so at this, looking oddly peaceful, but proud of this fact. "There's a river close by, that goes THAT way," She pointed with her nose, in the direction of South-East.

Akamu couldn't help but laugh a little under his breath at Suzaku's cheerful honesty. It was refreshing, the last interaction he'd had with pups being a rather.. unpleasant memory to say the least. His happy expression faltered for a moment in the remembering- but only that- before recovering again. "You and Helaku- one of your brothers, perhaps?- must be very strong." He smiled at the young wolf. "If you do not mind then, might I stay here for a few days? It would be good to rest a while, and stop this constantly moving."

Hm, what was that look for? Yes, Suzaku had noticed, she was an observant pup, though a bit exciteable at times. A moment later and she was on her paws again, too cheerful now to stay seated.
"Yep!" Suzaku barked back. "Helaku and me just decided to be family, you can stay with us," Her little pup-tail wagged in a stubby to-and-fro manner (aka, short, fast wags), looking up to the larger wolf with a knowing, happy expression. "maybe we can catch something other than just fish now." She padded forward and sat right before him, reaching up a paw to rest on one of his front legs hopefully. "Helaku is still asleep, do you think we could surprise him with breakfast??"

Akamu grinned down at the pup. They'd just decided to be family, huh? Well, he didn't see any reason why that couldn't work out- it had apparently been doing so for a while.
The wolf's eyes widened a bit in surprise when the pup reared up to rest on his forelegs. She really /was/ an outgoing youth, wasn't she? He relaxed again soon enough, making himself become used to tactile relations with another wolf after so long. "I suppose we can- I do not think Helaku would mind a surprise meal. I thank you for letting me stay here for a while, Suzaku." The last part he said with a serious voice- even though he was an adult and could possibly have taken the den with little trouble, it was the honor of the thing for him. He felt very flattered that the pup was able to trust him enough to invite him to stay with her and her brothers- and after only a short conversation, at that.

It could be said that it was naive trust that made her agree so readily, but that was not quite the case in point.
"You're welcome," She said, again with a knowing smile. She was definitely still young, but Suzaku was also the attempted voice of reason in her family of blood-relations. She gave him his space again and reared up on her hind legs to stand. "What do you think we'll find this early? Maybe rabbits?"
She was hopeful, she had nothing but fish for a long while now, she wouldn't be picky about what was available, but a change was promising as well right at this moment. If they got rabbit, yay! If they got fish, okay!
She sidestepped to give him a bit more room, this time to walk, looking up at him still.
That thing about her, it was an inner maturity that would grow over time. She was accepting without question, everyone deserved a chance, or a second chance, or even a third if so called for. It wasn't guilty until prooven innocent, it was innocent until prooven guilty. Akamu was a new friend that Suza was more than happy to have. She liked his countenance, it was chivalrous, gracious, and polite, all attributes that could be likened to Helaku and her father.

Akamu paused thoughtfully before he stood again, considering the success in small game hunting he'd had in the past area he'd been and what little hunting he'd done in this one. Finally, the older wolf simply shrugged.
"Rabbits, perhaps, if they do not think we would be out a-hunting them at this hour. We shall have to attempt a catch of at least two or three, to feed Helaku, you, and I though- a rabbit is too small a meal for only one kill."
Akamu had not failed to notice the intelligence Suzaku held, nor that certain sort of air that meant she would grow into a very kind, giving adult who would be the blessing of many a wolf. He appreciated, also, her willingness to give a friendship with him a try- and he was determined to deserve it. The trust of a pup was a thing to be appreciated, not taken for granted... and he would not lose it lightly.
"What say we hunt those rabbits now, shall we?" He smiled down at her affecionately. Already, Suzaku was growing on him.

((So sorry Jes! ;_; I completely forgot to come back here and check with all the excitement in the last two days. ><;; ))
If that didn't set her little eyes to glowing nothing would. With an eager cheer the young wolfess yipped and pressed her nose to the ground, sniffing about for possible prey. Even though she had predicted rabbits for a meal, anything they happened by would really be fine. Suzaku just wondered what that might be. Her muffled voice called up to him, sounding slightly nasal due to her nose being so closely planted to the ground. "Which way do you think they are?"
She lifted her head as she stood at his side, looking up at him again with a tail wag.

((That's completely okay, what with how slow I'm rping here. sweatdrop I've taken on way too much stuff and become a regular at too many threads, man. sweatdrop ;; *is determined to rp more*
Now to do a hunting post, which I have never done. >>; ))
".... I would say somewhere close on the edge between the trees and a clearing- perhaps there is a patch of flowering plants nearby? I believe rabbits consider the things nice tasting... It might be that we could find an early riser or three there eating their fill." He glanced down at Suzaku. Akamu was already thinking of a burrow or two that he'd hunted a day or so ago... He was sure there were more rabbits there than he'd managed to catch, the rodents being as.. numerous.. as they were.
Perhaps they'd managed to catch a squirrel or- if there was running water nearby- a beaver as well. Ah, but whatever they caught would do, as long as it was edible.

((Okay, XD huzzah! I agree, let's skip, or I fear I'll never post. *bad, bad, BAD Kor*))
Her first kill....! Well, her first hunt, technically, and even though Akamu had done most of the work she had helped to flush out and then still the creature, at least!
Her teeth, mostly regular teeth by now, minus two milk teeth, finally unclamped from over the fawn's mouth, feeling a brief moment of guilt. Like Byakko Suzaku felt a deep respect for all living things, though she didn't mourn for long. It was a part of life. They were carnivores that needed to eat meat to be healthy. Their mother had once explained to her that part of the reason they hunted deer was to keep the population from overrunning. It was a balance. Their death meant life for others.
That thought in mind she lifted her eyes to meet Akamu's figure, excited again. "We did it!" She yipped, rearing back to rest her front paws over the fawn's body.

Akamu laughed, pleased that Suzaku was so excited about the hunt. The pup had performed well, considering her inexperience. She'd shown the ability to shift her hunting tactics during the hunt- an invaluable talent for any wolf.
"That we did, Suzaku- and a fine job of it, too!"
Briefly, Akamu glanced down at the fawn's carcass. He was aware of a short wave of pity for the young creature- but its death had been necessary for their survival, just as Suzaku's mother had taught her. As every wolf mother taught her pups.
He lifted his gaze again to the rambuncious Suzaku and smiled at her. "Would you like the first bite?"

Suza smiled, tail wagging still as she settled next to the adult with a polite "Thank you,". She picked a part that would be easy for her to tear and ate a little bit, leaving room for Akamu while she took in her first share. Oh man, Helaku was going to be surprised! They could have breakfast then get to know Akamu a little bit. This was bound to be a good day!

The three had managed to gather a meal together that day, some short while ago. Mostly Akamu hunted while Suzaku stayed with Seneca and gave her verbal pointers, so that next time she could try her hand at fishing instead. She'd promised to take the pup the next time and let her try.
The adult parted ways with them after that, wandering away to try to find Helaku, Suza wouldn't complain, he was the one brother that hadn't run away from her yet.
"Seneca?"
She hadn't expected to wake up and find the pup missing, though. She felt responsible, she'd promised herself to look after her, so what if something happened?
"Seneca??"
What was she doing? Her footsteps faultered suddenly. ~Stay calm. Keep a clear head, nothing will come of panicking...!~
... Alright... Deep breath...
Right, she stood still where she'd paused amidst the wooden giants. Once she stopped to clear her head and actually put some thought behind her worry she was able to sense things much more clearly. First of all she found that she could hear a heck of a lot better without fifty jumbled thoughts flying about in her head. Second of all her sence of smell was much better when she wasn't distracted by every scent in a fifty mile radius. Once she stopped to put some focus on what she was looking for, she found it.
Now, with Seneca's scent strongly embedded in mind she was able to proceed with a much clearer head. Trustingly she put her paws and legs back in motion, and was on her way.
----
The closer that phoenix got, the clearer the two scents became.

Whisper tilted her head just a little. Seneca was the pup's name she guessed since there seemed to be another nearby looking for her. So, there were others in the area. Normally, she would have been a little nervous or wary of creatures she didn't know. They could be dangerous or the sweetest of wolves, but at the moment she didn't much care. She had been living by herself for too long and she wasn't in the best of moods. Her ears drooped and her fur was in globs, reflecting her mood.
"Seneca?" she asked idly of the pup. If indeed this was who the other wolf was looking for, maybe she could join up with someone, meet some new friends and possibly get somewhere. It was pretty boring lazing about doing nothing day after day..
