Joi winced at her father's poor choice of describing what happened. He made it sound so terrible. She felt bad enough that she lost her place as 'Daddy's Princess" ... She of course had Jay now, but her role with her dad was an important one she messed up. Its part of the reason she was so grumpy all the time. That, and she still thought she was unjustly punished. She's not a kid anymore. Without a word, she moved to sit on the couch by her mom. She'd been embarassed enough, she didn't want to open her mouth.

Dizzy shook her head watching Joi. Someday, her daughter will know they do what they do to protect her because they love her. Maybe when Joi has a teenager of her own someday. Guardians I hope that someday is a LONG ways off ...

"Oh? Is that all?" Sol asked, quirking a brow. "Really Vale I'm shocked..." He chuckled. "It sounds like you're trying to protect her from life... Vale, we all know what happens when you do that..."

Vale visably winced and looked away, now it was HIS turn to be embarassed. He cringed a bit at hearing Sol's words... He respected the man, reviered him even, and he was stomping all over his descision with big heavy boots.

Joi perked up hearing what Sol said to her dad. She couldn't help but grin and had to cover her mouth her hands to keep quiet. I like this guy! She assumed only her mother could do that to Vale.

Dizzy chuckled and shook her head. She agreed for the most part with Vale's desicions, as she too wanted to protect Joi. "We just want her to be safe. She's still not a full-grown adult you know." She got slightly defensive, but meant no disrespect.

"All the more reason to not protect her so much..." Sol said with a nod. "There are things you can't protect her from, like a broken heart or emotional problems..." Sol nodded his head. "You're going to have to let up on her and let her live her own life and make her own mistakes..."

Vale winced more and look to Joi. He frowned heavily and he shook his head, he didn't want to admit Sol was right.

Dizzy sighed and shook her head again. Why did it feel like the Elder didn't understand? He's got many kids and raised even more, you'd think HE would understand the most. But then, teenagers are new, so maybe he doesn't? She kept her mouth shut, not wanting to argue. How her and Vale choose to raise their children is no one's business but their own anyway.

Joi was squealing on the inside, really like this man. Not once questioning why the geezer was on her side, but wondering why he was there. Did the Elder have a purpose? She was raised to think Elders were the leaders of the Pae, and only did important things.

Vale frowned and shook his head slowly. "I will consider your opinion Sol..." He murmured and shook his head. "But for right now, Dizzy and I's punishment still stand..." UGH... He felt tred on!

Sol chuckled and shrugged. "She's your daughter Vale, it's your choice, I'm just checking to make sure you don't end up building embitterment, how do you know your punishment isn't just pushing her into what you don't want?" He eyed Joi, measuring her.

Dizzy narrowed her eyes slightly at Sol. "Sol, She's punished for doing what she knew was wrong. Not because we are trying to control her. She was grounded, but snuck out. She had a boy in her bedroom. Things she KNEW were wrong." Dizzy didn't want to argue, she didn't. Sol had come for a friendly visit, it wasn't her intention to start an argument, but she felt like her parenting skills were being dismissed.

Joi winced at her mother. The tone was one she rarely ever heard. She scooted a little down the couch away from her, just in case.

Dizzy sighed. "Yes, her punishments stands, but we will consider your words, Elder." she glanced to Vale and sighed again before turning her attention back to Sol. "Maybe the initial punishment was harsh. She didn't know the punch was spiked." That was hard to admit, but she'd known it was true the minute they punished her. They'd punished their daughter out of anger, rather than her needing to be disciplined.

Sol again shrugged. "Just stating my opinion, you are well in your rights to dismiss them, as I said, she's your child..." He smiled at Joi and nodded his head. "Quite the beautiful one, I would not blame her for wanting a boy in her room..." He chuckled and leaned back. "But as a parent, I could see where this would be an issue..."

Vale nodded his head slowly. "VERY much an issue... Lord knows... I know what he must have wanted..." He eyed Joi. "And Joi had no need of that sort of... attention yet..."

Just because she's pretty doesn't mean she NEEDS a boyfriend... Dizzy didn't say a word. "I just want my daughter to grow up and be innocent a little longer." she said with a heavy sigh, nearly sounding defeated. Her conflict wasn't with Sol at all, it was with herself. It only came out as she spoke with the Elder.

Joi crossed her arms and humphed at her dad. It's her decision, not his, she thinks. "What's wrong if we like each other?" she had to ask. She just couldn't see the logic in why her parents fought to keep her away from Jay.

"Because he's older than you, and because he probably only says that he likes you because he wants to get into your bed!" Vale said, sounding rather... Angry about the issue. "I KNOW what men his age are like Joi, I was one once... It was only when I met your mum... and got to know her that things changed... We're still not sure if you were concived when we first slept together or not!" Yeah... that had almost been a repeat of the night Joi got drunk... Vale would NOT see that happen to his princess!

Sol cringed a little at Vale's choice of words, he looked to Joi, then to Dizzy and frowned. "If I may be blunt and to the point..." He said, raising his voice a little, taking on a more... Elder tone.

"Joi looks to me that she could make her own descissions, I know you feel that it would be best to keep her safe and innocent for awhile longer, but if you really stop and think about it, are you really helping her, or are you just merely trying to hold on to something that you no longer have? She's not a child anymore, she's almost a full grown adult, she deserves a bit of respect in that area, yes, she may still be your daughter, but I think she is old enough to make some of her own choices..."

Joi's face grew angry and she stood up, glaring at her dad. "What makes you think Jomund won't be like you? You changed when you met mum, maybe he can change for me! Besides, HE'S NOT LIKE YOU!" She was crying by the time she screamed that last sentence, and before she could even catch a glimpse of reaction, she ran up the stairs to her room, slamming her door shut loudly.

She was hurting so bad inside right now. She'd always loved her daddy so much, even wanting to marry a man like him someday. But now, she felt like he hated her. He didn't trust her at all and constantly was treating her like a child. And because she felt like he hated her, to deal with that, she started to convince herself maybe she hated him too.

She'd flung herself on her bed, burying her face in her pillow and just cried until she actually ended up falling asleep.

Dizzy heard what the Elder had said. He made good points actually. They'd not been showing Joi much respect at all, and maybe they were hanging on to her being a child. She looked to the now sleeping baby in her lap and smiled slightly. She wasn't losing daughter, she was only growing up, and she still had time she could spend with the new babies while they grew.

Startled when Joi stood up and suddenly started shouting at her dad, she pulled Lucia close to her chest as the sudden loud noise caused the baby to start crying herself. "Shhh... baby..." she cradled and rocked Lucia to calm her down.

Vale winced and looked away from Joi as she shouted. He sighed and tried to calm Lucius. He looked to the Elder and frowned. He wanted to apologize for Joi's behavoir, but he knew it was his own fault, he'd said things that made her mad, and he sighed.

Listening to Sol he realized he really was a fool! He sighed and once he calmed Lucius he sat. "I think, tomorrow, we will remove Joi's grounding..." He said slowly. "Sol is right, we weren't respecting and trusting her... We should expect her to make the right choices, but we have to give her the chance to..."

Sol smiled and nodded his head slowly. "Now there is the boy I raised..." He chuckled softly.

Dizzy sighed then stood up with the now calmer baby in her arms. She stood beside Vale and put her hand on his back, rubbing gently and then looking to the Elder. "I"m sorry you had to witness all this. Its just been tense around here lately."

Sol waved his hand. "It's alright, I have dealt with worse..." He sighed and closed his eyes. "Much worse before..." He huffed. "My wife has walked out on me twice, so trust me, there is little that phases me anymore..." He grumbled and stood up again. "I will leave you and your family to your... working out of issues..." He nodded his head. Making his way towards the door. "I shall come visit at another time," He bowed and headed out.

"Farewell Elder Sol, I hope you have a safe trip home..." Vale said as he kissed Dizzy's cheek, his finger moving over Lucius' cheek. He sighed a moment and then sat down, closing his eyes and relaxing.

"Yeah, thank you for dropping by, hopefully your next visit will be much more pleasant." She smiled and bowed her head to the Elder as he moved towards the door.

The news that his wife had walked out on him twice shocked her tho. She knew Estra was upset over the birthday thing, did she walk out on him for that she wondered.
