Adi shook her head. "Nope, not that fast. Fast, but not all at once - just kind of sped up, like fast-forward. I'm still really grown-up for only being five, but everybody always thinks I'm a kid, anyway. I don't get why."

"I don't look like a kid, and I don't feel like a kid, so I don't know what it is. I think adult things, and I do adult things, but nobody else sees it. Has anyone been like that to you?"

That question, through. "That... Um... I... I don't know ?"

Silence.

"...It, uh... Happened a few days ago." So much for mature and wise, Lament.

"Oh, that's not long, then." Never, ever not nosy, Adi had to ask for more details...a specific detail in particular, actually. Teenage brain didn't exactly have an off switch! "Have you started liking girls yet?"

No motive there, of course. A pause, and she added, "...or boys, I guess."

Wait.

What ?

There was a moment of silence, where Akakios just stared. He was supposed to that now ?

"...Uh ? I.. never didn't like girls ?" Was he supposed to not like girls ? He'd always liked Adi, and Grace, and his sister above all of course.

That probably meant no, actually. Or more accurately, that meant Lament had missed the point.

Adi stared back at him, and then laughed. Had no one told poor Kios about these sorts of things? "Not like that, silly! Like...do you think about us more? Like we're pretty?"

...

"I am supposed to ?" Really, he hadn't even given that a second thought. He'd had so much to think about, and a new kind of restlessness, pent-up energy that hadn't been there before.

"Yeah! That's part of growing up. Unless gods are different, or something, but a lot of adult gods seem to like people..." Like Kios' parents, or Glyph and Illisia, or Rio and, uh, pretty much everyone. "And you're an adult now."

But, apparently, not as affected as Adi was by these things.

"Mother said im not -quite- an adult yet. But I don't know if she said that just to feel better about it..." Echo had gone into fussing mode and had yet to ease up. It was... a little confusing.

For once, he was actually glad that his father was scarce, so he wasn't getting twice the fussing. Through that meant a bonus round whenever Nergal did decide to show up. Ergh.

"Oh, well, you probably will, sooner or later." It was a little disappointing, because it would have been nice to have someone to talk to about it who understood it from a perspective more like hers, but...not today, clearly.

"Not quite?" Adi frowned. "Parents are like that. Most people are, really. It's like they look at you and still see a little kid, sometimes."

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show....It was awkward to think about, actually, that he might like someone, one day, like his mother loved his father. Definitively awkward. In spite of what Adi was saying, Akakios definitively wasn't an adult quite yet - oh, yes, his body might have been, but his mind broached more on early adolescence than anything else.

"Well, that's what mother says. You know how she is." In spite of the apparent criticism, there was fondness in his voice. Echo would probably have been happy if the day her children grew never came.

"I think she's hoping Cosine ends up giving her more little ones to spoil." He said, amused. Good luck with that, aunt Cosine - the brothers were definitively birds of a feather there.

"Cosine?" Adi's ears perked with interest. "Who's she? I don't think I've met her before."

"Cosine is my aunt, the goddess of numbers." He nodded. "She's very smart, and organized." It was evident in his tone of voice that he admired his aunt, and respected her greatly.

"Huh, something about that sounds familiar...oh, I know! I met Arctang once, the other Numbers. He was pretty nice."

"Hey, you still wanna learn to climb?" Adi switched topics abruptly. "It should be easier now that you're big."

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. The fact Cosine had a brother wasn't that surprising - after all, how many times had he been told that every influence once had two rulers ? But the fact that Arctang, the other numbers, actually lived, and with that the fact that he'd never even heard anything about him, made him wonder.

Nothing to plague Adi with, however. She likely wouldn't know. "Sure !" He said. That could be useful, wouldn't it ?

"Awesome. Here, we'll go into the woods - that way if we fall, no one will see!" Not that she was likely to fall, but she figured there was a good possibility her cousin would. Learning to climb was hazardous!

She led him to a tree that looked like a good prospect - one with lots of sturdy branches, some of them low enough that they wouldn't be hard to get to for the now-tall Kios. "You should take off your shoes, so you can use your toes. And take off your veil, too, and anything else you really like. You can rip your clothes if you get caught on something."
