Aria gripped her weapon tightly and moved past him, trying to hide the trembling in her shoulders. That was close. Too close for comfort, even. She didn't look at him when she moved passed him, embarassed. She knew she overreacted, but there was something about his voice that made her feel uneasy. That and part of her actually liked kicking him. It felt good to finally strike out at someone that wasn't herself. And yet... s**t. s**t. Aria decided that it was in her best interest to consider finishing this "training" course quickly. While the Mists were tough, she at least knew them. It didn't feel like a good idea to have Edmund at her back now considering what she just did and what if he was that sort of Hunter and she just ended up dooming herself to receive one of those missions people didn't come back from? Or what if -- if -- The trainee took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. It didn't work. "R-right," she finally replied to Edmund, nearly a minute after he spoke to her. "I'm going. Unless you want to go fir-errr, nevermind I'm going!" Without thinking, she took a step forward into the room. As soon as her feet touched the tile, it shifted under her. And like the novice she was, Aria looked down. She completely missed the swinging log until it hit her, catching her in her chest and sending her flying back towards the entrance. She hit the wall with a crash and slid down, wheezing. "H-holy crap," she gasped, breathless. "I'm just... going to lie here for a second. Okay? Okay." She closed her eyes and winced, breathless and on her back in front of Edmund. The older man stared down at her, toothy grin gleaming maliciously under his hood. "That's a good look for you," Edmund murmured, not bothering to help her up as he walked past her. Sadly no vats of acid were in sight, but watching Aria get hit by a log had already done wonders for his mood. "Miss Velda, you wouldn't happen to have my taken my weapons, would you?"
He had just complimented her...but now he was talking about weapons? For some reason this left Velda feeling slightly frustrated with the trainee, and she was audibly disgruntled when she responded, "Princesses don't need weapons, Cael."
Edmund and Aria would likely be up there at any moment, as the girl seemed very capable, and Edmund would surely help her out if they hit any snags.

To Edmund's retreating back, Aria gave the one finger salute. She let her hand fall and flop across her stomach, closing her eyes as she counted backwards from 10 in her head. There. That was enough time for rest. Aria pushed herself up slowly and stood, scowling at Edmund. Her cheeks still burned, and her pride was horribly stung. It didn't matter that she deserved it. Would it be possible to kick him again? Possibly, if she could get close enough. Aria squeezed her grip on her weapon for reassurance before dismissing it, sliding the weapon back into its sheath. She wouldn't get close to him standing here. And besides, it wasn't as if there was anyone around to see... Aria watched Edmund's back carefully, trying to step where he stepped. Then she caught up with him. She was close -- so close. All she had to do was take a step and -- She felt the tile slide under her foot. This time, Aria's training kicked in and she jumped forward, using her hands to press down on another tile and flip herself over the rest of the board to safety. She managed to land on her feet, taking a moment to toss her hair over her shoulders while grinning triumphantly towards Edmund. It didn't matter that she was trying to kick him earlier: she did it. She finally performed a ******** flip. "Well? You coming?" She asked him innocently, crossing her arms across her chest. The movement made her wince, forcing her to drop her arms and rest one on her hip. Minus 25 cool points, Aria. Quirking an eyebrow at both the move and the attitude, Edmund replied with a smile and a small bow of acknowledgment, "If you wanted my attention, oh song of my heart, you already have it." Several spear shot out as he stepped toward her, just barely missing him. "Oh that would have hurt quite a bi-" He took another step forward and a large spout of flame shot up directly behind him. Spinning to make sure he hadn't been set on fire, Edmund glared at the room behind him. Really, Velda? Really?Feeling fairly irritated at this whole ordeal, he gestured shortly at Aria, "Yes, let's see this so-called princess." The loud jangling over the headset reconfirmed that Caelius thought otherwise regarding his current status. He was currently attempting to coil them around each other to see if they would strain and break - no luck so far. Goddamnit Velda, did she really have to take all his weapons-
- A thought suddenly occurred to him followed by another thought. He mentally groaned. How far was he willing to go to sacrifice his freedom?
"Miss Velda, I just remembered that I left a present for you from my last mission. It's sitting in my room and it'll, uh, it'll melt if we let it sit too long. Maybe its a good idea if I you know, go back to get it for you?"
The trick to this game was to not let too much desperation slide into his voice. Just to make sure this was his only absolute last resort, he twisted the chains as hard as he could, they groaned slightly - just a little more -
- Ten seconds later absolutely exhausted, Caelius just resorted to sitting on the stone 'ground', looking extremely put out.

Velda coloured right up. He was...inviting her...to spend time with him...and presents...and see his room...and presents...
"Oh um...um...oh. Oh."
Edmund, hurry it up!

Aria gaped. Then she slammed back into reality as realization hit her, inspiring her to look away as her cheeks burned. No. Just. No. Fail, Aria, fail. Getting attention was the last thing she wanted to do, both as a trainee and as a Mist. Moreso as a trainee, she was learning. She was supposed to be all about stealth, all about not being noticed and here -- here -- Her brain stuttered to a stop as she stared blankly as Edmund dodged the traps. He made it look... easy. She dropped her gaze and turned, giving him a brief nod as she turned. She muttered a reply, still too flustered to give a straight answer. She recovered as they climbed the ladder then the stairs to the top of the tower, regaining her composure. She was a Mist. Mist. Mistmistmistmistmist COME ON! ...she still felt uncomfortable with the other hunter behind her. It was -- no. Stop. Focus. She was almost done, wasn't she? And once she was done, she could get out of here. Go back to being watched closely, yes, but it was familiar. Comfortable. The trapdoor felt good to kick up, even if she failed to kick it up all the way. She reached out with her hands and shoved it open, emerging onto the roof and stepping aside for Edmund. Aria paused as she caught sight of Caelius, arching one eyebrow at the sight. He looked... Depressed? Defeated? She wanted to pat him on the head, refraining from doing so after catching sight of his coat. Sun hunter. Oh boy."...Island divisions are so weird," Aria muttered, approaching Caelius and staring at the cuff. Let's see, which pocket did she keep her lockpick in again...? Thank god, another second longer and he was probably going to consider jumping off the tower next, though that would have probably been a somewhat amusing sight: some trainee dangling off a thirty foot stone tower. It probably also wasn't the first time something like this happened on Deus. It definitely did not help that Velda was as per usual, being indecisive, thought he totally had her for a second hook, line, and sinker with the usual trigger word of "gifts", maybe he shouldn't have mentioned the melting part.
Caelius did a double take as he stared at his two "saviours". While the mist trainee 'Aria' was entirely unfamiliar, wasn't the other one Velda's well, lackey, for lack of a better word? He didn't even know why the man needed training, most of the time they just seemed to linger behind Velda usually during the most inappropriate and unexpected intervals.
The Sun trainee gave them both a strained and somewhat nervous look. "If either of you have a set of runic weapons, its probably easier to just pry the chains apart by now." As he talked the remainder of the pink dress fabric that had been snagged against the trap door fluttered and smacked him in the face before floating off into the distance.
Yeah, seriously the sooner they got out of here the better.

It would be a terrible lie to say that Edmund didn't enjoy the view following Aria up, but the scene that greeted him was even better. Liam's boy, shackled at the top, getting hit by a very familiar piece of shimmery pink satin, and wearing a hangdog expression. Oh Velda...finally taking some initiative with her little crush.
Smiling, the Life hunter greeted the boy with a reassuring, "You know she made that dress herself. By hand." His voice was slightly strained and his shoulders shook ever so slightly as he proceeded to...not bother trying to unlock Caelius at all.

Aria shook her head as she found her lockpicks, squeezing them tightly as to not put them back in order to pat Caelius on the head in sympathy. "I don't, sorry," She apologized as she slid the lockpicks into place and began to tumble the locks, "Besides, these chains don't look that hard to unlo- whoops!" The lockpicks clicked and began to tick in an unsettling way before she wiggled the lockpicks again, breathing a sigh of relief as the ticking stopped. She still didn't think the lock looked complex. It was the additional explosives attached to the lock that made her begin to worry. Should she have seen those first? H-hush! It's not like that! She ducked her head down further and continued to fuss with the lock until it was removed. Aria spared Edmund a glance before she moved to Caelius' other side and began working on that lock as well, silent and preoccupied with being embarrassed. The Sun trainee was, for a small portion, rather mortified. Velda had spent a long time making that dress by hand, oh god, maybe he should just stay in this tower forever. Like a princess.
That is, until he caught that look on Velda's lackey, the slight shake of his shoulders, the fact that that b*****d pretty much ignored him entirely, "Wait a second, did you set me up?"
This thought was once again interrupted by this Aria trainee patting him on the head like a puppy what was even going on. He glowered at the two of them, breaking eye contact just enough to nervously glance at the ticking shackles oh god Velda why before glancing back, tapping the headset with his free hand. "My rescuers are here, is there a portal to use to exit?"

"Very nice, my dear. You're quite good with your hands," the senior hunter murmured in quiet approval as Aria handled the locks. But then he heard the sun trainee's question and if anything, Edmund's smile grew even wider, "Oh no, princess, it's up to your two heroes to escort your pretty self down through dangers untold and hardships unnumbered." He was enjoying this a little too much now, not quite enough to merit Aria's crotch shot, but the boy's misery was a definite treat. "Of course, if you'd rather we didn't, we can just go and Velda can call daddy to come to your rescue. Would you like that, Cael? Would you like Liam to come give you some fatherly attention?"
Down below, Velda's eyes grew wide and worried, "Don't...worry about that. Don't listen to Edmund, he doesn't understand what he's saying sometimes. If you don't want them to escort you down, I'll...I'll come save you?" There was a certain lilt to that last, indicating that she kinda hoped he'd let let her come save him. Aria and Edmund had already done a pretty successful run, and probably had bonded and become good friends while working together. That was all that was needed really. And maybe they could...talk...a little...and get to...know each other...
"If you want me to...I'll be up there right away."
