"Your hair might still be long enough for me to clip something in it," Xiu answered, though her brows drew together as she looked up thoughtfully at the ghoul's hair, "Or maybe..."
Instead of going back to her jewelry box, Xiu moved over to the potted plants she had growing on her windowsill, eying the blossoms thoughtfully. Finally, she reached out and plucked two of them off, making sure to keep their stems as long as she could. The first was a darker blossom, a dark reddish-brown in color, and the second was a gold-colored flower. Twisting the stems together, she moved over to where Danny sat, and leaned down slightly.
"Well, this should be more comfortable for you to wear, at least. No painful snags in your hair, or anything." Smiling slightly, she tucked the pair of flowers behind one of her ears, carefully brushing her hair aside so that it didn't obscure her new hair decorations.

Danny watched as Xiu's hands crafted a pretty flower ... thing. She was so skillful! Danny had to admit she was a bit envious. The only thing she could make with HER hands was a mess. An ashy, burnt up mess.
She smiled rather obtusely as the flower was put in her head. Was she prettier now? Was this pretty?
Her heat aura was not doing well for the flower. Moments after it was set on her head, the flowers began to crumble up and dry. Certainly they weren't ashes yet, but they were wrinkling rather quickly. Danny frowned a little, looking at Xiu. "Is it supposed to do that?"

...My, that...wasn't supposed to happen. Furrowing her brows, Xiu stepped back, hand on her cheek as she stared at the wilted flowers. "Ah ha, no, that...that wasn't supposed to happen." It looked like she hadn't considered Danny's heat aura, which meant that fresh flowers were out of the question. Not unless the flowers from a cactus could withstand the heat, but Xiu really wasn't certain whether that would work or not.
In the end, she went back to her jewelry box to retrieve two slender hair clips, being careful to be gentle as she slipped them onto Danny's hair. There--even though the demoness had short hair, she was certain that it would stay.
...
Danny looked...very...well. Not unattractive to be certain--personally, she always liked the fire demoness' appearance--but it was just strange to see her in something like this.

Danny frowned a little as Xiu informed her that no, that wasn't supposed to happen, but it was temporal. As Xiu clipped her two hairclips in, the smile returned as quickly as it had disappeared. They were staying in her hair! That was a plus, right?
The fire demonness stood up to look at herself in the mirror to her right. She looked ... well pretty! A smile crossed her face. Pretty! Well even if she had to feel incredibly awkward and out of her skin, if it made Rikki look twice at her...
She turned back to Xiu to find the ghoul looking at her with an odd expression. "What?" she asked, curious, "What is it?"

Hm? Xiu blinked rapidly when she realized that she had been staring, and looking sheepish, she gave a little shake of her head. "Ah, no--nothing! You look very nice, Danny." Unusual or not, the fire demoness looked very pretty in the dress. Clasping her hands behind her back, the baku smiled up at her, giving a small dip of her head.
"I'm happy so long as you're happy, Danny." She informed her, "And I...I hope that...this helps you with that boil."
Well, that wasn't entirely true: ultimately, she hoped that things would work out without Danny having to dress up and change herself...but that obviously wasn't up to Xiu. As an outsider to this situation, all she would be able to do is sit back and hope that, a few days from now, she would be hearing happy gossip about things working out.

Danny shifted awkwardly her dress and smiled at Xiu. So she was pretty! Somehow that made her ridiculously happy. It was small and minuscule, but she she was happy.
Her face fell as Xiu mentioned "that boil." Ugh, right.
She was, surprisingly, silent for a moment, and then said, "Xiu... can I ask you something?" She was pensive, and quiet, words that would normally never describe Danny.

...What was this? The baku's brows drew together in confusion--and in concern--at the demoness' softened tone. Moving towards the the couch, she half-sat and half-leaned against the arm of the couch, her gaze focused on Danny. "...Of course, Danny. Feel free to ask anything, and I'll do my best to answer."
She reached out to pat the seat of the couch. Did she want to sit down? Xiu wasn't sure if this was something that she could answer easily, or if it was a question that would spawn a long conversation. In the latter's case, it would be best if they were both comfortable.
Whatever was wrong, Xiu genuinely hoped that it would be fixed soon. She was really starting to miss the silly and happy Danny.

Following Xiu's cue, Danny took a seat on the couch, careful to make sure her tail was poised above the fabric. Danny definitely didn't want to burn down poor, adorable Xiu's dorm.
Oh Jack why was she suddenly talking about this with XIU of all people. Sure Danny loved Xiu in that sort of oh-you-are-so-cute way, but she wasn't REALLY that close of friends with her. It seemed that the words just wanted to tumble out of her mouth though, and she couldn't stop it any time soon.
"Err. Well I guess... What would you do- Oh! Hypo ... hippo ... " What was that one word again? Hypotherapy? Hypothetically? "Hypothetistally," she decided on, "Yeah that. What would you do if a boil ... call you stupid? I mean like REALLY called you stupid. He wasn't just joking or anything like Roch does." Danny wasn't even aware that she had completely blown her cover by mentioning Roch. Oh well.
Well she talked, her hands awkwardly adjusted the dress. It seemed that no matter how she sat in it, it still felt weird.

Xiu had to struggle to keep the small smile off her face as Danny struggled with one of the words, secretly finding it rather endearing. Despite her efforts, the corners of her lips quirked upwards ever so slightly as the fire demoness managed to get out something that was...close. Not exact, but close.
She was quick to clear away the smile as the ghoul continued, however. It was clear that this was, for her, a serious matter, and Xiu wanted to take it seriously. However, the question startled her, so much so that she had to lean back and consider it in silence for a good minute. When she finally came up with a response, she spoke slowly and carefully.
"If it was someone whose opinion I cared about? I...would probably be upset," She admitted, lips pulling into a frown, "But then, after I have a chance to sit down and cool down, I think I'd try to consider why he called me stupid? Maybe I had done something stupid and made him worry, or maybe I had unconsciously been hurting him somehow? Perhaps he was just having a really bad day." She couldn't think of many other reasons why a friend--or at least, someone whose opinion you actually cherished--would call you stupid.
Smiling lightly, Xiu gave a small shrug of her shoulders. "Most importantly though, I'd probably talk to him about it after we've both had some time to mull over things. Try to patch things up, I guess?"

Danny stared at Xiu for a moment, and then at the ground. She began biting her claw- nervous habit- as she searched for the right way to say what she had on her mind. "But talking's really scary ..."
After a moment or two of silent contemplation, Danny stood up and began taking off the dress without warning, slipping back into her old, more suitable clothing. "I think this uh ... fits you better," she said, handing the crumpled dress back to the baku ghoul.
It was probably a good thing that Danny was out of the dress. She was a tomboy through and through, and dresses just looked strange on her. They were much more suited for cute figures like Xiu.

And then Xiu smiled.
Taking the dress, Xiu simply laughed, tossing it over the back of her sofa. "That's fine--you don't have to wear anything you're uncomfortable with." Honestly, she hoped that this whole issue could be settled soon. Danny was a nice ghoul, and she was certain--or at least, she hoped--that this thing with the boil had all been a misunderstanding.
"That looks good on you, Danny," The baku complimented, gesturing towards the fire demoness' old clothing, "It's not something that I could pull off even if I wished that I could, but it works on you." And she was definitely telling the truth too (though there was also the fact that wearing revealing clothing in general tended to freak her out a little).
Well, she was at least pleased to see that the demoness would not be walking out of her room unhappily dressed as another person. Though she doubted that she had been of any help really, Xiu took comfort in that fact.

A light, normally unseen, blush crossed Danny's face with Xiu's compliment. "Th-thanks Xiu," she mumbled, grabbing her jacket and throwing it on.
She began walking towards the door, but turned around to say, "Uh, not just for the clothes I mean." Even Danny had her timid moments; mostly when faced with self-appreciation. "I'll see you tomorrow?"
Then she slipped out the door, eager to think about ... things.
