As Shun spoke Mitsu prepared to clean, pulling out a cotton ball and the disinfectant. His explanation was something she was already starting to work out though it really gave way to no new information. It didn't explain why he was doing any of these things, if he was going to do them again, if tailing people was the only kind of work he did or if there was more too it then that. Would he eventually get tangled in something more dangerous? Would she once again be unable to help him?
The thought grated at her, enough so that her usual gentle and careful touch was far from that. Normally she could clean a would thoroughly and rather fast but this time she was really getting in there with the disinfectant and taking her sweet time with it. Possibly another way to tell she was upset.
"But you are nice." Mitsu protested. "You can be caring and thoughtful, gentle and kind." He had the ability, he had shown it on numerous occasions with her. True it took warming up to him for him to show it but he wasn't incapable and Mitsu was fairly certain a truly unkind person would not be as willing to express such emotions.

Letting out a hiss of pain as the disinfectant touched the open wounds, Shun gritted his teeth as Mitsu wasn't quite being all that gentle either. It was definitely an uncomfortable process.
"Perhaps," he managed to get out, taking a few moments before speaking any further. The stinging pain of the cleaning was a little distracting.
"But it doesn't change a few things. This.. family business. I'm used to it. While I could care less about the people, the tasks and the things behind them generally don't bother me all that much." he added, still not quite being direct and to the point as he normally would be.

Mitsu paused as she let that sink in. The work really didn't bother him? Though she supposed if she had been raised that way it wouldn't have bothered her either. Or would it? It was so hard to say since she had never been exposed to the things Shun had seen, never been made to do the things that Shun did. How would she feel? It made it all the harder to imagine since she wasn't entirely sure what all Shun did. If even half the charges against his father were true Shun lived a very violent life.
Silently she grabbed the remaining bandages from the first aid kit and moved to sit on the bed beside Shun so that she could easily wrap his injury. Her eyes looked rather hollow as she focused on her task of treating his wound though half way through they started to get glassy and then teary. Pausing she leaned forward to rest her forehead against his shoulder, torn on how she felt. She didn't like it. Not one bit but what bothered her more was she didn't care. Mitsu could care less what Shun did which was completely against her character. The lycan cared for him that much, her only concern revolving around his safety.
"I just want....you to be safe." She managed to get out not sounding too upset though it was easy to tell tears were on the way.

During the silence, Shun slowly looked over towards Mitsu, seeing her eyes become glassy as they were welling up with tears. He held still while she wrapped up his arm, then gently placed his free hand over her head. The Reaper wished he knew what to do about this.
"Unfortunately safety doesn't really go hand in hand with these things. Even things that shouldn't have any sort of confrontations could go wrong, like what happened today. But.. this is why I don't want to end up getting you involved in any of this."
Letting out a breath, he glanced away again.

Mitsu swallowed hard as she pulled back, her fingers struggling but finally completing the task she had started. "B..but how am I supposed....I can't..."
The lycan fell silent again feeling like her protest on the matter was going to get her no where. He wasn't going to keep her in the loop so that she could help watch out for him. If that was the case she was just going to have to follow him to make sure he was okay. It was the only way she knew that would allow her to watch his back without him throwing a huge fuss. If she got caught better to ask forgiveness than permission right? Wasn't that what she had heard someone say before?
Resolved to do what she could Mitsu wiped at her eyes shortly before leaning forward to press a kiss to Shun's cheek. "You should probably rest." It almost sounded like she was going to let the subject go for now even though it was far from the truth.

It sounded like Mitsu was going to drop the subject. Though, she still didn't seem like she was all that happy with the situation. Not that he expected her to be. Shun watched her for a few moments before carefully wrapping his arms around her.
"I'm sorry.." he whispered.
He really didn't know what else he could say. This obviously bothered her, but to him, this was for the better. She was safer if she wasn't involved.
The Reaper was about to lay down, but then his phone began to ring. Pausing, he reached over for it to see who it was. On the screen was the family insignia, meaning it could only be one person. Grimacing, he answered. He didn't say anything, but the person on the other side began to speak. They didn't sound very happy.
Shun shot Mitsu a glance, then pushed himself up to his feet.
"Yes. I did. Not much. Someone tipped her off."
There was a pause there as he pulled the phone a little further from his ear. Yelling could be heard coming from the speaker.

Moving into the embrace, Mitsu's ears fell back as she nuzzled close. She tried to act like his apology was some sort of comfort, nodding softly as she lingered in his hold. When he started to pull away to lay down she continued to sit there to watch over him, her ears perking at the sound of his phone ringing.
The look in Shun's eyes as he stared at the screen on his phone was enough to let her know this conversation wasn't going to go well. The instant he picked up she could hear the voice on the other end, clear as day as he began to yell. Was....was that his father?
Her ears fell back again as Shun glanced in her direction before getting up and moving away from the bed. As soon as he walked a couple of feet away her ears pivoted back around trying to catch some of the conversation though it was hard to mistake the yelling. Whoever was on the other line wasn't happy with today's results and Mitsu couldn't help but feel frustrated at the complete disregard for Shun's well being. Not a single how are you or are you okay. It made the fur on her tail bristle, her fingers clenching tightly into fists in her lap.

"I don't know how. Maybe it was Titus. ******** if I know," Shun murmured back only to have a few more harsh words snapping back at him. The yelling had ceased but the tone spoken next was dripping with disappointment and anger still.
"She spotted me once. Once. What do you expect me to do about some note being slipped to her?"
Letting out a huff, the reaper clenched his free hand, not exactly appreciating what was being said to him right now. At this point, the other speaker had slipped into Japanese, but the tone remained the same.
".. Ryokai. Boku shippai shinai."
A few more words could be said from the other side before the call ended.

The conversation had taken a turn for the worst and Mitsu found herself dreading all the more. Worry filled her as she continued to listen trying to pick out pieces of the conversation but the one thing she noted most from the other end was disappointment.
Shun was upset, his stance and physical actions were enough of an indicator. Mitsu wanted to learn more but the conversation suddenly slipped into a foreign tongue. The lycan could pick out that it was Japanese but had no idea what was being said between the two. Even Shun's words were just sounds and noises that she had no ability to connect with the words they were meant to be.
Her ears drooping to the sides of her head as she looked at Shun with deep concern when he finally hung up the phone. She started to move from her seat her hands reaching out toward the reaper wanting to comfort him, hold him close. While the conversation eluded her mostly she knew the caller on the other end had been as far from understanding as one could be.
"S..Shun?" Her fingers lightly brushed the back of his shirt, tentatively moving closer. "What was that about?"

Setting the phone down, Shun slowly turned towards Mitsu as he felt her pull him close.
"My father wanted to know how things went earlier. Status report. Information," he murmured before letting out a sigh, bringing up his arms around her.
"And as usual the b*****d was unhappy with the results. Nothing new here."

Without hesitation she wrapped her arms around him as he turned toward her. Mitsu wished she could protect him from it all. Having to do these dangerous jobs, the harsh words from his father, all of it but she knew even without being told it would be impossible. She wasn't that naive though she still clung to the hope that she could somehow protect him on these missions though she truly didn't know how dangerous they could be.
"I'm sorry," was all Mitsu could manage to say before she lead Shun back toward the bed.

Moving along as he was being lead towards the bed, Shun sat himself down before laying himself. He didn't look particularly happy at the moment, and seemed to be thinking about a few things here and there. Today just kind of was a poor one on all fronts. It definitely could have gone better, he felt. Was it all because of his faults as his father said? Maybe. The Reaper did not want to think about that too much right now.
"There's nothing for you to apologize for. This is how it is. This is how it's always been. And it will probably continue this way."
His father sure as hell wouldn't be changing anytime soon. He knew that much.

That unhappy expression. Mitsu wished she could make it go away. She preferred his neutral expression over this.
Quietly she sat down beside him her fingers brushing through his hair lightly unsure what to say or what to do for him. All she knew was that for now he would be better off with some rest but she wasn't sure how easily sleep would come to him if the things his father had said were looming in his mind. He had gotten in trouble for his mission. As much as Mitsu didn't like it...would she be able to help? Would there be a way for her to give aid in the background without him knowing so that things didn't get complicated in the future? If it would make Shun happy she would do it despite what it was and despite what it would cost her.
Leaning forward Mitsu pressed a gentle kiss to Shun's forehead, cupping his cheeks lightly. "Things can't always stay the same. They are bond to change at some point. Hopefully for the better." She placed another kiss against his lips before sitting up. "You should rest. Is there anything else I can get you?"

"We'll see about that," he said while trying to relax himself. Shun leaned into her touch as she cupped his cheeks and gently kissed her in return.
"And no. You've already done more than I can ask for.."
He was definitely lucky to have her. It pained him to keep her in the dark though. This whole situation in general, was a mess he felt. In a sense, it still mystified him how she was able to stand by.

"You never ask," Mitsu reminded, leaning down to kiss him once more. "And you deserve more." She nuzzled her cheek against his for a moment before she pulled back smiling softly hoping to lift his mood at least a little before he tried to sleep. Having the ability to lucidly dream didn't always mean you had control though Mitsu wasn't much of a lucid dreamer still.
Another thought came to mind as well before she decided to leave, something that had held her back while listening to the conversation Shun had with his father. Not that she hadn't wanted to learn but it was a painful reminder that there was a gap in her knowledge about her boilfriend other than the current events. "Hey Shun...do you think...you can teach me some Japanese?"
