"Like rabbits huh?" Checkmate laughed a little, then stopped, wondering if that was inappropriate. "Sorry. The families I'm used to are rather small, so it was surprising for me to hear about the exact opposite in yours."
She smiled, glad to hear that his children were doing well. Most of them. "It's natural for a father to worry about his kit, especially if he hasn't heard from her. I wouldn't be too concerned though. With a dad like you she probably is doing well."
Checkmate wondered why she was concerned over a stranger's trouble, but he sounded genuinely worried and so she couldn't help but feel the same. Guess she wasn't as cold-hearted as her housemates made her out to be.

He coughed, sputtered and shyly looked aside. "Oh... Well.. Er..." He tried to figure out how to recover himself from this. Seeing no way, he decided to move along in the conversation. "I'm sure you're right.. She's probably just busy with work or something." He offered a small smile. "Thanks, I do try my best to be a decent father for my children."
