Staggering back at the strike, Eva lifted her staff to counterattack...only to stumble at Marcus' words. Regaining her balance, she shot Marcus a wide eyed stare, but this quickly turned into a grin. "Haha, very funny, Marcus." Did she believe him? Nope, clearly not. She couldn't imagine who would take a liking to her beyond friendship or something sisterly--after all, look at her! Or rather, how she acted. Twenty years old, yet she acted like she was twelve sometimes.
Needless to say, his question earned a laugh too, but she gave a little shrug of her shoulders. Wouldn't hurt to play along, she supposed. "I guess orchids, and the color purple...but that second one shouldn't be too surprising."

She- she was laughing? Did she not take him seriously? These were matters of Gale's heart here, he was as serious as he could be.
Saved by innocence.
But she just-
Unless you plan on telling her it's Gale just accept it. Sighing, Marcus got two good answers out of her it was a start. "It's true. Why else would I be asking I mean, I have.. Cass." His face went a bit pink at her name. "And I am not the type to cheat so why ask these questions? Maybe I have a friend who would ask them himself but is a bit shy. He likes you, but worries you wont like him, and on the island, we don't often get chances to find what most people take for granted."
He paused laughing a bit before striking out. "Um but yeah. Now, Favorite foods and types of things. He'll need ways to win you over."

A huge grin spread over Eva's face at the faint pink that tinted Marcus' cheeks at the mention of Cass, though that didn't last long--it quickly changed into a look of surprise, and then a pained wince as he struck out at her. Losing her balance, she fell backwards, crashing into the ground.
"Ow..." Remaining on the ground, she kicked her leg out in an attempt to catch Marcus unawares, but unfortunately...well, it didn't quite work as she had intended it to. Ah well.
"Oh, I know you're not the cheating type, Marcus--you're clearly smitten with Cass," Her tone was teasing, but honestly, she found it to be rather sweet, "But, theoretically, let's say that you did know someone who liked me. Instead of asking me all these questions...just tell your friend to come and chat with me." She wasn't the type who liked the idea of jumping directly from strangers to dating--the friendship point was an important one for her.

His pink cheeks went red as she told him how obvious he was. Was it so easy to spot?
Yes, it is. If only you got that way around-
Blocking out Dis, Marcus tried to regain some composure before he stumbled, almost tripping over himself at her kick. "Not theoretical. I keep telling you. Real crush. But " He sighed. So- she wanted him to chat. Poor Gale, that was going to be an issue with guy, especially with how he reacting to the set up Marcus tried to implement. Dis ready he swung left, a wide arc aimed to deflect an incoming blow if needed.

Unfortunately, Eva hadn't been expecting the swing from Marcus' weapon at all. As she pushed herself to her feet, she suddenly found herself winded as the blade slammed right into her. With a groan, the girl found herself crouching back down on the ground, an arm wrapped around her midsection. "H-haha, that's...definitely some arm you got there." She smiled up at him.
"And what's the matter?" She had noticed that "but" that followed Marcus' words, and waited for him to follow up on it.

He frowned. It would not sit well with Gale if he landed Eva in the Infirmary. No, in that event Gale would shoot him in worse places than the face. "You..really need some practice don't you?" He suddenly felt a bit bad for the fact she really was a sweet girl and he...
He called her out under false pretenses. He was asking her really bizarre questions, and now, he was beating her up. Gale was going to hate him. "But um. Look, a guy I know likes you. End of story. I'm just trying to help a bro out." Gale and 'Bro' in the same sentence sounded queer. "Now please, try to block.' His blade came with a bite, going to her side.

Eva's expression suddenly became sheepish as she gave an affirming nod of her head. "W-welllll, you know...I never was much of a fighter before coming here. It's kind of hard to get into the swing of things, you know?" Fortunately, she did manage to avoid most of Marcus' attack this time around, obediently raising her staff and blocking the attack...but not before it grazed her first.
Okay, so she needed to work on her timing a little too.
"Well," She hummed thoughtfully, swinging Chara out for a counterattack--or an attempt to counterattack, at least, "This 'bro' of yours. Do I know him?"

Marcus grinned. "You do. He's a lot closer than you might think, let's just leave it at that." He grinned, blade catching hers for a brief moment. "For some one not much of a fighter you're doing pretty good! I mean, not dead yet obviously." Trying to pull back and adjust his blade, he felt his footing catch on a rock, sending him stumbling back with a laugh. "Well, nobody is perfect right?"

"Are you not going to tell me?" Eva's smile was wry as she stared at Marcus, lifting her brows expectantly. In all seriousness though, she knew that he probably wouldn't "rat out" his bro, and...well, a part of her was still going, "ah ha ha, he's playing with me!"
The compliment earned him a grin, though she seemed a little embarrassed. "Haha, you don't have to be nice--I know that I still need a lot of work, especially with blocking and accuracy." But then again, as Marcus had just said as he stumbled, no one was perfect.
Though of course, since they were in the middle of a spar, Eva knew that this was the perfect chance to attack. Since he was already a little off balance from stumbling, all the girl did was drop to the ground, swinging her leg out and trying to sweep Marcus' legs out from under him.

One thing Marcus liked about those years free running was that when you fell, you could take it. As he hit the ground he rolled, wincing as he had Dis yelling at him to get up, and just from the impact itself. So helpful, being yelled at.
I wouldn't have to if you paid attention to me.

Getting back up, Marcus rolled the blade in hand. "Can't, for obvious enough reasons. And I'm not just being nice. It's true, you're not that bad." Not as bad as he was. "If you want to learn how to block come train with me sometime. The moon division's whole jive is about taking hits. Training with some sun hunters would help with accuracy." Lashing out, he smiled as he did so. "It just takes practice."

Eva blocked the blow as best as she could, but just as she was about to attack back, she suddenly froze. Slowly, she lowered her weapon, looking at Marcus wide-eyed. "I--would you really? I mean, if you don't mind, I'd definitely love to take up your offer and train with you sometime." God knows she needed the practice, and Marcus was definitely a lot more experienced than she was. Maybe she could learn a few tips and tricks.
Eva, focus! You're in the middle of a spar--don't put me down!
"...Oops, right!" She brought the bladed staff down again in a wide sweep.

Why was she so surprised by the offer? He would have figured anyone would do the same. "Really, it's not an issue, we practice on take hits and blocking, aside from that, we study the structure of things, well, I do at least. If we rebuild the town I want to make it last." Her blow caught if off, sending him into a roll on his side.

How did Eva block? Not very well, was the answer to that. She tried, but her movements were a little too slow--she winced as she felt her shield strain and then shatter under the attack, the blade grazing her bare skin as it slid past. Her hand around her weapon loosened as she let it desummon back into hairclip form, her newly freed hand moving up to touch the small cut on her arm. Nothing serious, but it stung a little.
"Haha, I don't think I can take another hit from you, so..." She grinned sheepishly, "If you really don't mind, I'll text you when I want to take you up on that offer?"
There was a pause, her grin growing more mischievous as she leaned forward. "Sure you can't tell me who supposedly has a crush on me? Not even a hint?"

At least the cut was nothing serious. Fishing around in his coat he offered her a small thing on non-experimental bandages. "Sorrt about the cut but yeah. I'm open to helping out. But-" he leaned back, "the most you'll get out of me is that he likes you. And he's afraid you don't like him back."
He grinned, setting out for the dorms. Step one, accomplished.
