He thought about it. "The band that suits my voice the best ain't the NEWEST of stuff," he told the kelpie with a hint of warning. "But hell, it'll be fun, so sure!" He picked up the book, flipping through the songs and pulling up one of his favorites. Jealous Again's beginning notes started playing and he grinned at the Kelpie with pure happiness. It was a strangely boyish look on the overly pierced face. Then he started singing. His voice was rough and a tiny bit deep, but it fit the song well. Cheat the odds that made you

Calder listened, smiling wide as he watched Roch give a much more rewarding performance than Calder, and watched the boil and listened to the music. It was just another taste of a world of song he hadn't ever heard aside from the school dances, and he was giddy to hear more.
Clapping his hands at the end, he grinned. "That song was sooo....just sooo neat! It was romantic and jealous and had to do with a couple and I want to hear more songs like that!" He loved songs about break ups and romances. It also used instruments that weren't common in his clan. Like drums, guitars, and even a piano! "You're so cool, Roch!" He wanted to be cool, too!!!

"Eheh," Roch said, honestly not used to being praised like that. "Well, there's this one I learned back when I was chasin'--ah, a ghoul," he said a bit hesitantly. "I ain't gonna be able to use it again for anything useful," he admitted. "You wanna hear it?" He held out his hand, making a fist and summoning his guitar. "I could dial it up, but, well, I don't really need back up for it, y'know?" he said as he pulled the strap over his shoulder. He set the mic in its stand and tuned up his guitar. Okay, so he was showing off. Sure Calder was a guy, but hell, when had that been enough to stop Roch from showin' off? He started strumming the gentle beginning of Just Breathe, singing the lyrics into the mic.

If Roch wanted to show off, Calder was a very good fan-ghoul to have around. Music was big in his community, and he found all new music strange, exciting, and exotic. Smiling, Calder sat down as he looked up and watched, not looking up at the screen and instead focusing as Roch played the guitar and sang the melody.
It was such a romantic song that Calder was left misty eyed and greatly impressed at the end. "That was SUCH a romantic, sad song. How could any ghoul not be honored to be chased about when you sing like that? If any boil sang to me like that, I'd run to them!" Oh, if only Barth would sing to him....
Calder closed his eyes at the thought and sighed.

Roch grinned a bit sheepishly. "Yeah, well, I don't got that great of luck with ghouls--in that way, which, honestly, might be a good thing, I think," he told the other boil thoughtfully. "Y'know, cuz some people FIT as a couple, and others just fit as friends, right? Plus, and more importantly, she mighta made me stop partying so much," he said with a shameless grin. "I'm just gettin' STARTED on my partying!"
He let his guitar dissipate. "You wanna try one at random?" he offered. "It's fine if you don't get it right!"

"Psh. You can still party with a ghoul friend. YA need someone just as alive as you." Calder pointed out, before shuffling closer to the boil and smiling. "I'd like to pick a song to sing." He was getting very into this whole singing in a room game. You picked a song, sang, picked another. Calder didn't know why Barth, with all his gadgets, gizmos, and expensive game consoles didn't have one of these.
As the book was brought out, Calder watched as Roch flipped through the pages, before one word he was very familiar with caught his eye. "Oh, what about that one? It says "Pony"." A song about horses? BINGO!

Roch looked at it blankly. He'd never heard it before, but hell-- "Sure, let's try it!" he said, typing in the number for Calder and handing over the mic. Then he moved out of the way so the other boil could see the lyrics. He had no CLUE what the song would be like.
That's what made it even more entertaining.

Calder stood up, and took a mic while he waited for the song to start. It wasn't like the other songs, with guitar or any instrument Calder knew of. There were somewhat like noises a orge would make and a tiny mouse mixed in, and his ears turned in confusion before the lyrics started.
"I'm just a bachelor
I'm looking for a partner
Someone who knows how to ride
Without even falling off."
His eyes sparkled at the familiarity of such a feeling. It WAS a song about ponies and apparently finding a rider, a challenge Calder had for some time. It was more a trust issue in the end, but he was soon liking this song.
It was only seconds before Calder was hooked, and was belting out the song, some words, he didn't get, and others he did. The chorus, he found, was instantly a favorite, and felt MADE for him and Barth.
"If your horny, Let's do it
Ride it, My Pony
My saddle's waiting
Come and jump on it."
He continued singing loudly for the rest of the sound, and when it came to an end, Calder was left breathing hard and looking up at the screen. "That...........was.........AWESOME!"

"Oh jack, oh jack--" Roch muttered before bursting into laughter, which he hid against the couch. "That--that was good, man, really good," he told the kelpie, still grinning like a moron. "Excellent, even. You wanna do another one or should we take turns?"
Oh man, he would NEVER forget that one--EVER. He was seriously enjoying hanging out with Calder, he decided, even though it was obvious the kid had NO CLUE what he'd just sung.

Calder was now very energized and loving this Scareoke better than when he first started. Smiling, he looked at Roch and the mics and then grabbed his hand. "Let's do a duet!"

Roch thought about it. He thought about it for a few moments, then a grin crossed his face. "I know one! I think you'll love this one," he said as he headed for the book, flipping through it for a while. His finger traced over the page, looking for a certain song-- " Somebody to Love," he read off with satisfaction. "This goes with your romantic thing, but it's a bit old school," he warned the kelpie as he typed in the number. "But you and Queen, it should definitely be a good match," he said happily. "They do some seriously rockin' love songs."

Calder smiled, and took his own mic while Roch took another, and waited the song. It was a great love song, and like the one Roch picked before, had guitars and piano. The lyrics were touching, and Calder, already warmed up by the previous songs, not tone deaf but not angelic in his voice, was belting the song to match Roch's volume. It was a good thing this room was sound proof or else Roch would have some very upset neighbors.
When the song finished, Calder was grinning. "Ohh. I wish I had these songs. They are all great!"

"Yeah? You got an eyephone? Cuz I can download a few of them to that, if you want! Otherwise you'll have to go buy a eyepod or some other mp3 player," Roch told him. "I DON'T got the pony one, sorry, but I bet we could find it on the interweb!"

"Oh, I have an eyephone. My parents got me one before I went to school." He fiddled in his sporran, before pulling it out and nearly dropping it in his excitement. "I don't have a eyepod though." That was a little too pricey, and the phone was given as a way to keep in touch since typically kelpie mail, which involved placing your letting in a river in a certain way, took weeks to arrive. "Can I have your number too?"

"Sure!" Roch said as he took the phone from the kelpie and headed into the main room. "I used to have this craptastic old computer that I kept all my music on, but I moved it to my phone," he explained as he dug out a usb cable. He hooked the two phones together and started working quickly, sending over his Queen collection and several others.
Then he added in his phone number, not even thinking that manhandling another guy's phone might be considered rude. "Here y'go," he said, handing it back with a grin. "But... can I ask you one question?"
