Attacus pictured taking that long to get any where. He was so use to flitting here and there, letting the wind take him where it directed. He couldn't imagine having to bear such a burden on one's back. It often took him days to get anywhere but that was because he would often get distracted or go another way for awhile. He tired to imagine having a tree on his own back. "That seems like it would take awhile to get anywhere and you seem to be doing well mapping out places."

"I've never seen the ocean either. Honestly I haven't traveled much. I've only been to my home forest and now have traveled down to this one. I hope to explore more one day." A hint of sadness was in his voice. He didn't mention his fear of doing so. "My parents have traveled many places."

Attacus was filled with joy at Macalania accepting to have him around.

Macalania smiled at the compliment. "If it'd help nature stay healthy, I'd walk to the ends of the world." It was true. She knew what happened when nature was taken for granted; knew what it did to other soquil. She couldn't bare to have the curse she bore placed on another.

"Perhaps we'll see the ocean together," she said sheepishly, suddenly paying attention to her map. "I'm jealous of your parents then," she chuckeled.

"What are they like? Your parents, I mean. I don't remember mine so the concept is a little.. foreign."

Macalania had long stopped wishing to know her parents. She had long accepted the fact that they were no longer a part of this world. She wondered if they ever were; if perhaps she was born from magic or something else mystical. She was different, so when she was younger it made sense to think such things. She'd long since grown out of such thoughts, accepting that it was her fate to be alone.

But even she was beginning to doubt that. She had found a herd who hard accepted her. They didn't know her past, but they didn't ask and didn't judge her for not telling them. Even now, she'd made a friend who was accepting her and fascinated by her beyond the tree on her back. If things like this could change, perhaps she could chance and she could fix herself. With a little help.

Attacus was enamored by the dedication of Macalania. He could almost picture her walking to the ends of the world. He smiled when she said they could see the ocean together. He dreamed of exploring and she seemed liked a good Soquili to travel with.

With the question about his parents his face grew a little grim. He kind of wished he hadn't said anything about them. But he was always honest and as much as the topic was painful, he felt like he should share it. He hoped he would be accepting of him afterwards.

"To admit I'm not quite sure anymore. I haven't seen them since I was a foal. I do remember my mom being really forgetful and my dad paying more attention to my sister than me. They would always talked about their travels together though and tells us stories about them at night."

He tried to move on by asking her, "Why is the concept foreign to you?"

He wondered if she too had lost her parents when she was younger. Hoping to maybe have that in common with the mare as it often made him feel lonely in the world. For the most part he tried to ignore the feelings and spend is time enjoying the present moments in his life.

Macalania eyed him for a moment. "I don't know if I ever had parents. I don't remember them. When I was little I pretended a tree was my mother. But she died eventually, too..." Her voice turned bitter at the end, remembering the harsh memories of the forest that was destroyed. "At least you have those memories," she smiled. "Small memories are better than none."

Shifting around, Macalania realised how uncomfortable she was beginning to get. She'd been still for so long and the weight of the tree on her back was beginning to take its toll. "I need to stretch my legs a bit. Would you care to join me?" She rose to her feet, taking deep breaths as she did so. It was difficult to move after being still for so long; it was why she didn't often sleep while she was on her own. With others around her, they could help her up.

"I'll be leaving tomorrow; I've nearly fully cataloged this area. Perhaps you'd like to continue on with me," she mumbled, blushing a little and bracing herself for rejection.

Attacus listened and wondered what it would be like to not know his parents at all. He thought he too would want to find something else to protect him, such as a tree. He thought of the trees he knew. He didn't think he had ever seen a tree die. He started to wonder how trees die. He decided not to press the matter though as he could sense it was also a painful topic for her.

"You are right, all memories are important, no matter how small." He felt a bit more grateful for those memories he had.

He watched her shift and get up and was a little more taken aback by her tree. He now realized with her movement how heavy it must really be. He quickly moved in to help her to her feet but didn't quite know what to do. He offered his leg to her. "Moving around sounds like a good idea." He was finding himself a little more restless after talking about his parent.

Her next words were a bit hard to understand. He heard that she was leaving tomorrow and at those words his heart sank, but than his spirits bounced back up at her offer. "I would love to travel with you," He said joyously. He had moved out of his home forest already and was ready to see more of the world and who better to travel with than this beautiful mare.
