The stallion gave her a look. "Why do you think they all expect us to be their bloody beasts of burden? Either its their stuff or them sitting on our backs." He snorted with disgust. "Oh they may feed you nice things now while your small and cute. But wait until you grow up." His eyes had a look of dark humor in them as he appraised her.

She pondered these words for a minute, then looked back at him thoughtfully. "If all humans treat us this way, why do some ally themselves with them?"

She thought about when she had first seen Bargest and how the herd had acted. Was it because they were weak, simpering fools? Is that why they chose to be with the humans? But that unicorn wasn't a fool like the rest of them... he had come to find her.. to protect her.. So why would someone strong and powerful like that side with the humans?

"There could be several reasons I suppose. First the humans are cunning and hide their intentions from those azrein who are sheep and follow the herd. Second," now he laughed. "Do you think they really want to admit to themselves or others they are weak?"

"Personally I enjoy being able to do what I want when I want. I don't need anyone two or four legged telling me what to do. So what will be little filly? Are you one of the sheep? Or one of the wolves?" Bargest gave her a toothy grin. If she wanted to become one of those pathetic sheep, then she could become food for a wolf right now.

Tarma took a step forward firmly and stared him directly in the eyes. Gaze unwavering she said, "I am no sheep. I do what I want, because I want to. That's why I left home!" She snorted and glared at him. "I make my own path! Those fools in that herd were just as you say.. sheep... I see it now more clearly than ever." She pondered for a moment then tossed her head defiantly. "But what if I follow you and what you preach? Does that not make me a sheep of a different color?" She gave him a wry little smile as she waited for his response.

Bargest snickered as she declaimed those she'd been living with. The young were so easy prod in the direction you wanted as they were determined not to be whatever everyone else was.

"So you have fire in your spirit." He rumbled what sounded like a soft laugh. "Hardly. Because now that you know the truth you can do whatever you want. I am not going to tell you to come with me, or any such non-sense." He got to his feet now. "I have answered your questions little filly. It's time to do what is right for you. I'll take my leave now." The stallion turned away to head back into Six lands.

She started in surprise as he got up to leave. That's all he wanted? He truly was only going to answer her questions? But her young mind burned for more knowledge...

"Wait!", she called out as he turned away. She bounded forward and met his eyes again, "I want to know more.. to learn more about the Six! And others that believe in their cause." She looked entreatingly up at him. "Will you teach me? Or show me where to find others like you?"

Bargest had every intention of leaving the filly to make her own choices, but stopped when she called out. He looked back at her with his burning yellow eyes. "I will teach you and show you where those who believe the Six are right live. I can only do so much though; it will be up to you to survive." He wondered if the filly would be strong enough to survive the rougher attitudes of those of the Six. If she wanted to try he would let her.

She stepped forward and looked up at him. "Thank you."

She snorted and pawed the ground as she thought of where she had been so far and if this was going to be the right choice for her. At the moment, her instincts told her yes. Bargest hadn't lied to her as far as she knew, and she couldn't stand to be around those wimpy, cowardly Azrien any longer. Hopefully she would find a strong mentor in these lands.

She didn't really expect Bargest to let her stay with him for very long.. he did seem to be a solitary type. She understood that quite well, and didn't mind, as long as he guided her on where to go.
