While in most cases Jordan wouldn't have obliged, there was no audience and he was feeling pleasantly light-headed, and his usual embarrassment threshold seemed to have lowered somewhat. "I get by with a little help from my friends," he chimed in, smiling and looking only a bit self-conscious. "I get - wait," he broke off, blinking thoughtfully. "High isn't quite the case, is it?"

"Drunk with a little help from my friends," Jerry cackled, putting in a good strong series of punctuating strums before lifting his glass to give Jordan a good toast, sipping half of it down before returning to the rhythm, "Going to try with a little help from my friends!" He beamed, leaning back against the wall as he kept playing, looking far more relaxed than his usual eternal smile-and-tremble. "What do I do when my love is away, Does it worry you to be alone~"

"How do you feel at the end of the day? I get sad because I'm on my own," Jordan sang - it had been a long time since he'd sat in Nana's attic and listened to Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band on an ancient record player, listening and thinking about the lyrics, the ones that made sense and the ones that didn't. The song reminded him of the smell of dust and summer heat and the kind of languid boredom that didn't make one want to do anything else. It was an untroubled memory, one of the few.
Either the alcohol burn was easing, or Jordan was getting used to it; the glass was about half gone, and he was enjoying it more now, finding the edged smoothness interesting. He leaned against the wall and smiled over at Jerry. The older man looked happy, and not the twitchy and faintly strained kind of happy that was more usual for him. It was nice.

Jerry seemed delighted by this development. It was working! Jordan was actually... loosening up! Was that even a smile?? "No I get by with a little help from my friends," He sang out, picking up volume as he added in a rhythmic tap to the guitar body to accompany the strums before finally hitting a chord and howling out, "Do you need anybody!"

Jordan flushed slightly and looked up at the ceiling; it'd be much more noticeable if he stopped singing, though, and this song had been written for more than one voice. "I need somebody to love." In contrast, he'd gotten quieter.

"Could it beeeee anybody?" STRUMMA STRUMMA STRUMMA and a sharp excited gesticulation back to Jordan- he had gotten him to open up enough to actually SING he wasn't about to let him back down now!

Jordan seriously considered a convenient coughing fit. ... It wouldn't fix his blush, though. He sank down a little against the wall. "I want somebody to love," he finished the line. Only a few more line exchanges until the song returned to not-so-awkward territory.

The fact he continued seemed to only encourage that somewhat intoxicated Jerry who glee'ed at the impromptu singalong. "Would you believe in a love at first sight?" He returned to the regular rhythm, strumming along clueless to Jordan's rising discomfort. Music was *therapeutic*, and he was just looking after his friend.

He could do this; he really didn't want to disappoint Jerry. Two more lines. Nobody was watching. Jordan suspected that claiming to have forgotten the words now would go over like a lead balloon when he'd done so well up to now. "Yes, I"m certain that it happens all the time ... "
It occurred to him suddenly that he was deeply grateful that Ferros was asleep, and immediately afterwards that he was also grateful that if Roar was commenting, he couldn't tell.

It was probably for the best that Jerry was absolutely ignoring Roar just then as well, lost in one of his all-time-favorite songs, "What do you see when you turn out the light!" He always related to that line, even if it wasn't how the Beatles had originally intended it to be interpreted. See?? See! They were being hunters AND having a good time!

"I can't tell you, but I know it's mine ... " Quieter, but still audible. Jordan just - didn't sing where people could hear, and hadn't since he was a kid. He sighed quietly, the sound lost under the chords coming from the guitar.

"You have a great voice!" Jerry beamed as Jordan lost volume again. Clearly he was just self conscious and needed a refresher on his almost empty cup. Still strumming the chorus, he laughed as he wobbled to his feet, making his way back to the desk for the decanter, "It's nice to just relax sometimes huh? You need to do that more, Alpha." He gave him a playful nudge as he plopped back down on the bed again, leaning around his guitar to top off their glasses.

"Thanks." Jordan smiled a little again. "I do hope you know I'm not singing in public," he added, just to make sure. "I just. Not my thing."
He blinked at his glass as Jerry refilled it. Oops. He hadn't really meant to have more, but now that it was there ... He took a drink, then protested belatedly, "I do relax. All the time. I just usually don't sing when I am." He pointed a finger at Jerry. "I'm not used to knowing people. It's weird. You're all weird. I'm weird." He trailed off, frowning slightly, puzzled. "Usually that sort of thing is inner monologue," he informed Jerry.

Jerry shrugged, "Weird is not the worst thing I've been called," at that he gave a grin and a giggle, "And you are just lacking CONFIDENCE! When I'm done with you, you'll be the star of the choir," that was given a sage nod. Mmmm just another sip. God, why had H had to give him something so good? It was like.... like a chocolate milkshake. Only not at all. But he could drink ten of them. But probably shouldn't. He'd get fat. Or his liver would explode. One or the other. "And besides, we're HERE 'cause we're weird, right? Ahahahaaha! Welcome to the club, Jordie. Sitting quietly waiting for the next mission isn't relaxing. And since I know I've been part of your stressing," his face flushed at how many times Jordan had either stuck up for him or helped calm him down or set him straight, "It's my responsibility to make sure I repay you."

"Nope." Jordan laughed. "Going to take a lot more sweet-talking than that. Last time I sang in a choir, I was nine. Church. I fell off the riser and screwed up the piece." He shook his head and studied the bourbon again. Better than he'd expected, really. It was getting easier to drink. Was that a bad sign? It might be. He was still fine, though.
"Reading is relaxing," he objected. "So's exercise." At Jerry's next statement, though, his eyes widened slightly. Jerry hadn't - no, he was just - Jordan hastily took another drink to cover his confusion, and then peered ruefully across the rim of the glass. "You have no idea," he muttered, only half-aware that that had been out loud.
