Her gentle touch and honeyed words caused Luthias to sway a little and he curled his tail. Her gratitude was enough to make him blush.
"Well, you know, I could fish for you from now on. It's easy for me and I don't mind."
Talking hadn't helped, he was still blushing madly and had a smile on his face. He was relived she couldn't see his ridiculous expression.

Luthias was unsure what to make of all these new feelings he was having. They were exciting, overwhelming, and difficult to control, but he enjoyed them and Luci's company.

"Is there anything else you like? I can catch most things, or I could catch more fish for you!"

Luthias laughed in his usual gruff voice.
"I don't need anything but you're company."
He was waving his tail in the water, swaying it side to side when he felt a sharp sting. His body tensed and he snapped his head around to see what had caused the intense pain. He lifted his tail from the water and caught a glimpse of a brown viper swimming into the brush on the other side of the bank. He recognized the snake, a water moccasin.
Luthias felt his stomach turn at the sight of it, and the pain in his tail continued to intensify.
"Um.. Lucinda, I think I just got bit by a snake." he said through his teeth.
