[FINAL] The End Is Only The Beginning

Pyper watched as Rass and her treeling saved her. Her slow reaction didn't help, but it seemed that Tsahik was holding its own. So hopefully everything would be alright. Yggdra was still available to fight if the others chose to attack.

She rung her hands nervously as she rushed over to Rass. "Thank you for helping me. I thank your treeling too."

Enfaya could not let harm come to her patrons, if the treelings had failed she would need to save them. Untangling herself from the general, she made a run for the patron, blocking the way from another treeling onslaught. Surely, these moon patrons would not be stupid enough to try and hit her? if their treelings tried anything, she would have no choice but to kill the treeling. “You need to run back to the door, you need to grab everyone and run. Your treeling needs to heal, and you cannot get hurt.” A single glance at the stone, and Kererbos’s loud voice told her it was almost too late for them. But Enfaya didn’t have to worry about her patrons, she might have a better chance.

The stone had started to crack and curmble, and when Enfaya had gone off to save her patron Kerberos was pleased. The queen would be happy to have strong patrons with her, Kerberos smiled. With Enfaya gone, he was free to return to his chanting unstopped, he could already see the bottom of the queens dress freeing itself. It was hard to notice the queens gaze flickering between him and Enfaya, she was alive, and she wanted to get out soon. She would tear Enfaya apart and imprison her patrons unless they surrounded to her. It wouldn’t be long now, for her to get out.

[Plain Pandora]

On the verge of hyperventilating, it was a dear surprise that the mystical woman had appeared when called. Her ears were ringing, the chanting was buzzing along in her head, and she stared up at Enfaya with a frozen expression. But she vaguely heard something about people, and running.


Well. She didn’t need to be told twice.

There wasn’t even a nod of acknowledgement. Mentari squashed the suffocating treeling to her chest and made a break for it. She slowed briefly as she passed the few that were her partners, reminding herself not to be a complete coward. She had to shout to be heard over the sound of breaking stone. “Run! E-everyone, we have to RUN!” Many turned their heads towards her and followed. There was a fallen treeling Mentari scooped up along the way, seeing its owner fighting to keep up with the small line that burst its way back through the doors.

They were following, which was good. Except maybe someone else should have been leading instead of her. Left, right, left, left, straight, right. Her mind and feet were practically on auto pilot. Many times she had to tell herself to slow down for the others. Finally an area looked familiar, covered by the vines of their entrance. The relief that she hadn’t gotten them lost was so tremendous she nearly choked on it. She turned to the others and suddenly wondered. Where was Enfaya?

Once everyone was gone, Enfaya cast one last glance towards the queen. All her hard work, all the peace she'd built for so long was being crushed right in front of her. If she wanted any hope of fixing this, she was going to have to live through this, which meant the return of the queen until she could be imprisoned again. It would be harder this time to trick her, the battles would be far bloodier this time around. No one would be able to escape her wrath, there would be no shadow dark enough to hide. Enfaya turned her back and started running towards the exit, she ran as fast as she could towards the door. She would need to close it quickly before the queen found out about it. Safely inside, Enfaya closed the doors, sealing them with her magic and then going down the tunnel to catch up tot he group. Enfaya had no clue how she was going to explain this to Voren if he ever returned to Sanctum.

Kerberos almost lost his wording when he saw Enfaya leaving in a hurry, he wanted to laugh and dance all at the same time. Though now the queen's attention was on him, and he could not fault here. Then it happened, all the glowing symbols went towards the stone at the same time, turning it white and blinding everyone in the room. Cracking was heard as it echoed all around them, Kerberos finished the chanting with his eyes closed. He'd learned this part by heart, and knew it had worked when a final bang send shards flying all around the room. The light died down, but when the general opened his eyes he could only see a cloud of dust, and when he finally spotted her he bowed deeply. Before him, the queens eyes darted between each patron, a silly grin on her lips as she stretched her limbs.

[Plain Pandora]

Mentari and the others had ripped through the vines, scrambling through the doorway like desperate rats once opened. Somehow the journey back seemed longer; she out of breath and heart pounding. She still held tight to the two treelings in her arms, and tighter still as a resounding crack filled the tunnel and shook the ground. She stumbled, right arm scrapping one of the many crystals adorning the dirt walls. Had she not seen it, she wouldn’t have known it was there with her body numb to the pain.

Why is this happening. That simple sentence was a mantra inside her head; she had many others, and even more denial and anger to accompany them, but this was the only thing she could seem to focus on.

Her eyes flicked behind her, noticing a few lagging. She didn’t slow up, but it wasn’t an issue as the opening to the other side was finally in vision. She was the first to emerge back into the darkness of the crisp night, and on a reflex continued running- ready to travel all the way back to the portal home. Fortunately her foot caught a root a few feet away from the grand tree the group trickled out of. Her legs shook and gave out, Mentari dropping to her knees. Her grip on the mobile plants loosened, although they were too damaged to remove themselves from her arms. She breathed harshly, staring at the dirt. Her first visit to this alternate world was for a quest that now almost seemed like a suicide mission.

And it was obvious that they’d failed.

Pyper picked up Yggdra and watched as their enemies fled. She couldn't believe it. They had won! A smile crossed her lips, but then quickly disappeared as the stones came together and her Queen appeared. She gulped nervously. When she saw Kerberos bow, she quickly did the same. She would be sure to show her Queen respect. 'Why did authority figures always have to be so frightening?' she wondered. Or maybe it was just simply her weak disposition.

But now things were sure to be different. Good or bad, who could tell?

Rasslyre had had no intention of pursuing to further harm the other female she had been fighting while she was "down" so to speak. When a figure darted forward and placed itself between the two of them however, Rasslyre tensed, expecting another attack. Turning her head slightly, she saw now that the form of Kerberos was alone and continuing to chant as he had been before this group had burst into the chamber. With the growing amount of light in the chamber, Rasslyre was able to make out that the person whom had leapt between her and the other was female as well. Not only that, but it was instantly clear that Rasslyre and her exhausted little treelling were severely outclassed should the conflict continue.

Tsahik had retreated back to her after sending the rival treelling back towards it's owner, and was once again clinging to her long skirt. The small creature seemed particularly worse for wear, and as she wearily eyed the tall figure before her, suddenly a thunderous cracking sound seemed to reverberate throughout the entire chamber startling Rasslyre.

Whiteness flared before her eyes and caused Rasslyre to flinch back, her attention was now fully riveted by the commotion seeming to occur in the center of the room. The sound of retreating footsteps were mostly muffled and overshadowed by one final bang before the light that had steadily been filling the chamber began to dim. Rasslyre coughed as a large cloud of dust was kicked up, and squinted her eyes towards the center of the room. The light had died down once more, so the visibility was once again almost zero for her, however the newfound presence of another was unmistakable. Movements from around the chamber seemed to indicate that the others were bowing in a show of respect, or was it fear? Was there really a difference in this case?

Rasslyre was unsure, but as Pyper seemed to fall into a bow to her right, she decided it would likely be best to follow everyone else's lead and follow suit. She swept her foot out, causing her skirt to fan out as she knelt down on one knee instead of allowing it's length to crumple beneath her. Bowing her head, Rasslyre stared uncertainly at the ground before her.

The cards had been dealt, the only thing to do now was wait to see how everyone else would play their hand.
