"Then don't kick him in the balls all the time," Austin said simply. "No matter what someone SAYS it ain't deserving of something like bein' kicked in the family jewels. You're a ghoul, so you might not get it, but it ain't just painful. It's like an attack to the pride. And sayin' he ain't got a pair, well... that's like sayin' to you that you're undeserving of the title 'Valkyrie,'" he went on. "That you're a pathetic little weakling that's got no weapon."
He looked at her, his silver eyes--the ones that were so much like his son's--cold with a hint of dislike. "I don't know what or who your boilfriend is, but I'll tell you one thing. He ain't Roch. And since he ain't Roch you have NOTHING to do with Roch's balls. They ain't yours to kick."

Hel scowled once more, loudly.
“I only did it once! Once!” She cried, “Stop making it sound like I make it a daily habit, because I have better things to do than to keep nailing boils where the pumpkin sun don’t shine!” As Austin started to make speculative jabs at her classification as a valkyrie though, the ghoul made a fist. “I know I am fitting of the title valkyrie, and I know that I’m not pathetic and I know that I have a weapon! What others do to me will not change that!”
The ghoul was not fazed by the reaper’s cold piercing stare, and the hint of dislike was mutual. “Damn straight he ain’t Roch! I don’t need to nail him there! The boil should start protecting them better then!” The ghoul jabbed a finger at him then. “How about you stop trying to wage your son’s wars, and let him do it on his own! Roch doesn’t need you covering his balls! Bah!”

"Roch just finished the war," Austin said simply. "You pushed him too far, he dumped you as a friend. Simple as that," he finished as he headed for the cups. He searched through them, pulling out a leather covered metal one and walking away.
Good riddance if you asked him. This little pain in the a** was definitely someone his kid shouldn't be involved with. But honestly, Austin had a thing against Valkyries to begin with. His mother had been a complete and utter b***h. Hel was doing nothing to change his perception of them, though.

Hel tugged on her braids. She had it with this grim reaper. “If Roch was done with me, he should come say so himself!” She shot back at Austin. “Stop trying to speak for him, he can wage his own battles!” Yes, walk away from Hel, show your back to her. The valkyrie felt like a winner, even if it wasn’t the most ideal situation.
As Austin walked away, the ghoul spun on her heel and started to march her way back to the exit. She had things to deliver after all, and standing here listening to Roch’s old man spout off nonsense was not how she wanted to spend her Christmastival. She was nearly to the door, when she happened to catch sight of some shockingly familiar purple hair. Hel scowled. There he was.
The ghoul changed her course, and marched on over to Roch, who seemed to be pressing some buttons on some sort of machine. The ghoul stopped just inches away from him and crossing her arms. “Well?”

"D'you got ANY jackin' clue how many years I spent wishing he would pay attention to me?" he asked her quietly. "He was so jackin' obsessed with his work that he was hardly ever home. I wanted... so damn badly... for him to pay attention to me." He wasn't looking at her. He was chasing this yellow ball thing with a ghost in a maze.
"Then I got pissed at him. Decided I wanted to PROVE myself to him. Show him that I was a jackin' MAN in my own right, a better grim reaper than he was. Shove it in his face."

Oh…well…this wasn’t what she was expecting to hear…but regardless, Hel heard him out.
The crease in her brows lessened as he went on, and her arms shifted from being crossed to resting on her lips. The ghoul glanced at the game screen before turning her attention back to him. “…Well…? How is that working out for you?” She questioned, her tone losing that heated edge it held earlier. “Do you feel like you’re on the road to becoming a better reaper than him?”

"I was. I was starting to get some respect, until you go and JACKING INSULT ME right in front of him," he roared, turning on her. "What the jack am I supposed to say when one of my so-called friends is dissing me right in front of him? I don't know WHAT to do when a ghoul kicks me in the balls, Hel, before now I didn't even KNOW ghouls. I was in a jacking GANG. Surrounded by older guys that were using me as a lookout, and more often than not, a scapegoat."

Hel was becoming accustomed to the mellowed out atmosphere…and then it turned hostile once more, and immediately Hel was on her guard.
“Gonna blame me for your daddy issues, huh, Roch? What!? You don’t know how to deal with it? Well figure it out! You wanna fight about it, huh? If you feel like I have tarnished your honor someone, then do something about it. Get it back!” Hel waved a hand at him. “Wah wah wah, all I am hearing right now is excuses!” The ghoul rolled a shoulder. “You know, I came to respect you because you were independent and determined, and you seemed to have a grasp on the situation even through the worst of times…now you’re making me change my mind.”

"The one that hasn't grasped the situation isn't me," Roch said coldly. "You said you respected me? You sure as jack didn't act like it back there. Or did no one teach you that respect means you don't insult people in front of people you don't know?"

“Don’t lecture me about respect, Roch!” Hel snapped back. “If you respected me, you would not have played pretend that you were being kidnapped when it was really just your father taking you to some stupid store!” The ghoul stomped a foot in a fine display of maturity.
“You made me worry, and I was ready to try and take him out for your sake! Bah!”

He looked at her blandly. "You really think I would get on the back of a bike that easily if he was a hunter?" he said quietly. "Sure he grabbed me, but I picked to get on the bike. Did you see my guitar? Did you see me threatening to kill him? You overreacted and I thought it was cute, so yeah, I teased you, but more importantly, I gave him a hard time," he said bluntly.
"And I THANK you for giving enough of a s**t to be willing to kill my dad for me, but it does NOT change the fact that you dissed me in front of a guy that, as much as I hate him sometime, I still love."

“Graaah, I don’t know, Roch!” Hel wailed, flailing her arms. “Maybe False reapers have mind control stuff or something! You don’t know! How was I suppose to know!?” Hel scowled, and stomped her foot again. “I am not cute!”
The ghoul was rapidly losing steam now that the tense atmosphere was subsiding, and she puffed out her cheeks as she thought it over. What would Mot do in this situation? She thought back to the field trip, to the spat they had in the main hall…and how after…even despite her not so favorable behavior, he apologized to her. That…was what this situation called for, huh? Uuuuugh saying sorry meant she was wrong though. Today just wasn’t her day. Would Mot be proud of her if he knew she apologized though?
Well….Hel could only do this one way.
“…Well, you know what? I’ll apologize, will that make it better, Roch? But I’m only going to apologize if you do!”

"Okay, then I'm sorry I teased you," he said easily. "I seriously am, you could have damaged the bike, y'know?" he added. "I'm planning on getting that bike and the old geezer's someday, and having to fix it up would make it a lot less appealing. And I'm sorry I avoided you a bit, but honest to Jack, Hel, I'm still not going to be buddy buddy with your sister for several reasons, her boilfriend at the top of the list."
"You got rid of her yet?" Austin asked as he stepped into the area, carrying a few bags.
Roch groaned. "No, we made up."
Austin raised an eyebrow. "Masochistic," he said finally. "I got your cup, by the way."

Hel blinked as she stared at Roch. Wow…he said that so easily. The ghoul just nodded her head a bit dumbly, and then scowled. “Ack, Roch! I do not care if you get along with my sister or not! This is about you and I! It’s alright, really! I am probably not going to be buddy-buddy with your father, so it’s a fair trade off.” The ghoul paused, and let out a huff. “…And I apologize as well…it was not my intention to belittle you in front of your father.”
Speak of the devil.
Hel just glared at him with a look that said ‘you’re not getting rid of me’.

"C'mon, kid, Monica's waiting," Austin said, looking right back at Hel, his eyes still cold.
"Can we fit Hel on the bike, too?" Roch asked.
"She can fly back to school, we're not even going there."
"Yeah, but--"
