Although Porsha Webber had made a point of calling Jude up to invite him along to the Gala thing she'd seen being advertised around town, she wasn't entirely sure he'd be accompanying her. Something about a shift at the coffee shop that had been switched around, she wasn't sure on the details. It pretty much all boiled down to whether or not he was capable of telling his co-worker no. She figured the chances of him meeting her were probably around 50/50, if she were lucky. She wasn't about to let a little thing like lack of a date keep her from attending what was likely to be, if not fun, then certainly interesting night. Her wardrobe for the evening was a lovely little black number with her usual punk twist. No matter how fancy, how elegant, there were hints of the rebellious teen scattered about, the little skull on the ring, the skeletal print of the dress. It was there to see, it just might take a second or third glance to notice. She'd given her hair a little more volume, but otherwise left it alone. With the air of someone that moved about the world as if they owned it, the young woman entered the park and made her way towards the sound of music mingling people. She didn't stop until she'd slipped beyond the chairs and dance floor, not until she'd made her way to the little counter where drinks(non-alcoholic) were being served.

Tony looked surprised and relieved as Kyndall came up to him, struggling with his cup but managing to hug her without dousing her or himself in the red liquid. He was glad she had shown up, though he hadn't thought she would just abandon him after he had asked. Or maybe he had, in the back of his head, worried about it.
A little.
"I feel a bit overdressed. You look beautiful, by the way," he said, nodding at her outfit approvingly. He was trying to remain relaxed. this was a party, after all, and he wanted to enjoy it. With her there, he imagined he would be able to do just that.
Unless he spent his time worrying about impressing and/or embarrassing her.
He noticed a few familiar faces in the crowd, including Jett, Lily and Micah, as well as that nice young man Alex. He smiled and felt more relaxed already.

She beamed with his compliment, looking around the crowd and recognizing Alexandre immediately. She hadn't seen him in a while but he was a bit hard to miss. She didn't recognize Jett, which was a good thing, but she did see and wave to Micah. She'd liked the spunky girl when they'd met and hoped her shoulder had healed completely by now.
Without thinking about it she slipped her hand into Tony's and pulled him over to say hello to Alex. She hugged him, too, happy enough to see him. She saw Lily and smiled at her. Anyone with Alex must be worth while. She assumed that everyone knew each other but just in case introduced herself and Tony to the unfamiliar face.
"Hi! I'm Kyndall and this is Tony but you may know him already from the library."
She was looking forward to a little fun herself, ushering in the new year with joy and companionship. Being there with Tony was a big step for the both of them and she hoped it was one they were ready for. She squeezed his hand again, thrilled to be there with him as they mingled politely before many people showed up.
"By the way, Alex, the painting you gave me is beautiful. I never called to properly thank you."
((Micah!! Those shoes!! Harm would KILL to have them!!))

It had to be a very good reason to get Jade to join in the gathering of multiple people. She didn't hate people but there had to be a reason. Going out just for fun wasn't enough good reason. It wasn't Jade's style. She had a good reason to here though.
Last month had been rough for Jade, even though she did not easily admit it. After the adjuction to the space and losing her job as a result, Jade had been having a financial struggle. Being too proud to accept most donation offers and being too inexperienced to get hired in any restaurants she tried to, Jade's income had been quite low.
For her luck, Destiny City's Tea Lovers had decided to take part in arrangements of Winter's Gala. Jade, in need of work experience, had volunteered to help and so, she was there in the event, wearing a warm waitress outfit and making sure that everyone had warm drinks to have.

In the middle of getting back to everyday's life in Destiny City, Ariel decided to come to the Gala. She honnestly wasn't sure about what everything was about, because she spent her last months the nose in books to catch up her studies. Being a senshi was nice but not for her result at school. She tried to spot people she knew and her eyes stopped where the drinks were giving a warm feeling with the smoke coming out of the glasses. Felling a chill suddenly she decided to go get some hot cocoa.
She looked at the girl serving, first time she met her but not to late for greeting at least. "Happy New Year" she said with a smile. "Can I have a hot cocoa please ?" She was taking a look at the clothes, they were quite pretty
On an other side she spotted Tony on the crowd, but she will go spoke with him later because he was not alone.

Lily shook her head smiling at her friend, really he was right. Food drives happened every year and Lily spent more that half her high years in the animal shelter volunteering along with many other students and she expected no prizes and no celebration. It was something they really ought to do without thinking, but was something many had to be coerced into doing.
Lily gave a laugh, "winter lightweight," mumbled meaning for Alex to hear her. When she patrolled when she was a super her fuku most certainly wasn't made with winter in mind, but still she had endured. "You lucky you don't have to where skirts," she gave another laughed as she looked around for something for Alex to munch on she wasn't really hungry yet. "You know I don't think you make it a whole day without keeling over."
She turned when a woman (Kyndall) spoke to Alex and gave a smile before looking to Alex, "Which one was it?" Lily couldn't recall anything missing, but she was very busy as was Alex, it was sometimes hard to keep track of everything.
She didn't really wait for an answer before she noticed Tony. "Hello Mr Darrow," she said happily wanting to give him a hug, not really sure she should. "No Nate tonight, couldn't finagle him into coming," she said smirking slightly.

Pouting, an expression he hid so only Lily could see, at her comment about him being a lightweight. "It really isn't my fault." He stated, though he knew Lily was aware that he obviously didn't ask for his genetics.
"I think, if they intend to give our prizes for things which people should do on their own, rather than being cohered into it, you should be given one. All those years helping at the shelter. But I doubt they have a clue, or an ounce of care for that. They just want to get people out there to help others, even if they have to bribe people so the acts aren't sincere." Where he hadn't done anything lsat year he had this year, and not because of some prize, but because of his new place in life - in the city. His reasoning was sincere, unlike some people. As if thinking of those people would have them pop up, with signs about their necks, he glanced about them for a moment.
"The one I did of my orchids. The large one." He answered after a moments thought. In that time he'd also moved away from Lily's side in order to embrace Kyndall. "You look stunning this evening, I hope your not too cold." He said as he kissed both of her cheeks lightly, a glance of slate eyes to the librarian he'd met when donating food items.
"A pleasure to see you again, I hope you had a lovely New Years." Smiling as he drew away from Kyndall and moved to offer his hand to the man. "Lily, this man knows that friend you keep telling me about - Nate?" He asked. For a moment he felt odd. He knew of Lily's other friends but as of now he'd never met any of her other friends. It wasn't like he'd ever wanted to meet them, till as of recently (like when he'd moved in with her).

Peter glanced down at himself when Ainsley pointed out how they kind of matched, what with the red and... pink... His lips twitched in an awkward half-smile, half-grimace, as if he was trying to forget that he was wearing the tie at all, and as soon as she took the cup of punch from him, he reached up with his free hand to tug a little at the suddenly too-tight collar and tie around his neck. If he didn't think his mother would force it back on him if she saw, he would have discarded the offending article of clothing before getting out of the car.
"You look better," he grumbled, glancing around to see if he recognized anyone else, but so far there were none.
As for her comment about being there alone... or not being there alone... Peter raised an eyebrow at her, not sure what she was doing at the park by herself. "It's dangerous, you know... To be by yourself." Hypocrite as he was, he could at least worry about his friends if they were doing equally stupid things, like wandering off in a city full of monsters and who knew what else. "Just be careful, okay...?" He'd hate for her to get hurt... Or anyone, really.
"Are we the only kids here?? Adults are so boring," he complained, reaching into his pants pocket to pull out his phone and check for anything he might have missed. "Did you have a good Christmas...?" He glanced up at her, not knowing what else there was to really talk about at that point in time. Although... maybe she wanted to head off on her own and he was just holding her back... Huh...

"Just a moment," Jade answered and turned to pour some cocoa for the younger girl. Even though it was rather easy looking task, Jade took it seriously and with attempt to look as professional as possible. On top of the cocoa drink she decorated with a twirl of loosely whipped cream and chocolate chips.
"Happy New Year," she said when passing out the drink to Ariel. A very small, polite smile stayed in her lips for a moment, then it disappeared.

Tony smiled as Kyndall took him over to introduce him to people, as it turned out, he already knew. He smiled brightly at Lily, glad to see her again, as he always was. He nodded his head at Alex, as well, greeting them both warmly. Alex got a handshake and Lily got the hug she wanted. Once he was done, though, he returned his hand to Kyndall and felt her gripping it. He smiled.
He noticed Jett and Ariel, and even Ainsley. That made him smile brighter and look even more comfortable. It was an odd feeling of pride, in a way, to see all these young people he knew, gathering to enjoy the simple pleasure of being kind to one another.
He liked that a lot.
At Lily's comment he laughed, shaking his head.
"To be honest, I did not even try to get him to come. I knew he wouldn't want to, and would just make a scene if he did come..." He felt guilty as he was saying it, though. He knew Lily and Nate were friends, and he looked down at his feet. He glanced at Alex, explaining, "my son. And Lily's friend. I'm still struggling to figure out how she could have tamed the wild beast, so to speak, but I attribute it to her being a very nice person that not even Nate can bring down."
He looked at Kyndall, then to Alex, tilting his head. "You two now each other well, then? This city really is smaller than it seems, sometimes."

The cocoa was really cutly decorated. Ariel wanted to ask more about the uniform but she could guess the girl was busy enough, no time to bother her with question. "Thank you" she said simply and then she headed toward Mr Darrow. She wanted to greet him, she didn't had the chance since then to go to the library and so to give him her greetings for the new year. She walked towards the little group where he was while drinking her cocoa, it would be a waste if it become cold with the outside temperature. "Good evening, happy new year"

It wasn't until Peter complimented her that Ainsley also began to fidget with her clothes. Her hands ran over the trim of her dress and then lightly her hands tugged at the corners of it. This happened several times as a light blush formed over her cheeks and a smile tugged at the corners of her lips. A compliment was a compliment. right? It felt nice, a warm fuzzy feeling in the child's chest.
"T-thank you," she said softly, her hands finally running flat against dress and rubbing the creases out.
It wasn't that dangerous! How could it be dangerous when she was here with Peter? The thought made her smile and she nodded to ease her friend's worries. She wasn't sure if they were the only children here though. The child had to look around, her eyes trying to spot any small bodies in the crowd. There seemed to be a few children but she couldn't recognize anyone. They seemed to either be younger than them or in their teens.
"I don't recognize anyone..." she replied.
The question about Christmas certainly sparked a light in Ainsley. She loved Christmas and this Christmas had been especially nice. Particularly this gave her the best opportunity to find out just how Peter felt about his trip to Hypnos.
"It was wonderful, I just wish it had snowed more!" She said with a small laugh. "How was yours?"

To say that Millicent was excited about this gala was like saying that it rained sometimes in the Amazon. The child had been bouncing in her seat from the moment that Jett had picked her up from her house, her mother waving goodbye. This was perfect! The hero of the city was going to be announced at this party, and Millie was going to be there to see just who it was. She had really stuck with the whole donation thing, and this was her reward. She was wearing a very Christmas-y dress and had shiny new shoes on, looking ready for the party that she knew was going to happen.
Thankfully though, her mother had read in the paper that the gala was going to be happening outside, and forced Millicent to wear a nice heavy jacket over her dress, thus hoping to prevent the child from getting a relapse of the cold that had kept her in bed for a few days.
Millicent wasn’t happy with the jacket, but what could she really do. She latched onto Jett’s hand and looked around. “There are so many people here already! This is just so cool!”
The child stood on her tiptoes and her eyes lit up. There was someone she knew! There was Ainsley! She glanced up at Jett once more, then pulled her hand away, going and running to the girl who seemed to be talking to someone else. She sort of knew the other boy, he was one of the people listening to that dinosaur story that one time. “Hi Ainsley! I’m glad there are more kids here!” Raven watched Millicent run off and laughed. The kid wasn’t so bad, she figured. She was cold tonight, having expected this gala to be held indoors, like any sane party would be in the middle of January. She wore only a short dress, with no sleeves, though had a black shrug to try and keep herself at least a little warm. She gave a shiver then moved closer to Jett, resting against him. “What kind of idiot planned this thing outside, I wonder. Is this just some plot to get all of the kind, generous souls of Destiny city dead from pneumonia?”
The blonde looked towards the refreshment table and sighed. “I might have to get some hot chocolate. That sounds more amazing then I can think about right this minute. Did you know it was going to be held outside, Jett? You could have warned me you know.”

Jett’s eyes were still following Millicent; he knew she was a good, smart girl, but he still wanted to know where she was. For tonight, she was his responsibility, and he wasn’t going to lose her. This seemed like a decent, safe enough environment, but maybe he was just a little paranoid after that dinner with Millicent and her mother. Deciding that Millicent was fine now that she’d found a friend, he turned his attention to Raven, wrapping an arm around her and rubbing her arm to try and heat her up. “If I’d have known it was outside I’d have passed along the message, Sweetheart,” he said in a slightly snarky tone. Jett still loathed the cold, but the prospect of a nice, warm, juicy steak after this was enough to keep him from thinking of the temperature.
“Do you want my jacket?” he asked, and while he was reluctant to expose himself to even more cold, for as much of a selfish b*****d as he could be, he cared about Raven. Most of the time. And her whining about the cold was going to grate on his nerves eventually, so better to keep her happy so he could try to enjoy the evening.

Candice looked around as she pulled her jacket tighter around her shoulders. She was a little bit chilly thanks to the event being outdoors in the park, but inside, she could happily admit to herself that despite the cold, she was feeling very happy inside to see all the people out here. She smiled to herself. "It's nice to see the young and old out here!"
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw that both Jett and Raven were part of the crowds. She had remembered Millie mentioning Jett when she bought those cans for her, but she hadn't asked Raven if she had been participating. As she walked closer to them, she called out. "Jett! Raven! I didn't know you both would be here!"
She hadn't seen Millie from the distance, but when she was with the group, she saw the little girl. "Oh! And little Jedi is here too!" Candice smiled, wanting to give each of them a hug, but... They seemed so preoccupied with other things.
