Wide green eyes stared up at the phony, no, the legend, her gaze quickly flicking to Taquita and back. No wonder she liked Taquita so much the moment she had met her!
“Your dad is a wizard?” The little filly shrieked, bouncing in overexcited circles around the other filly. The day was ramping up and up towards being the best day ever. She made a new friend and found a magic wand and is in the home of a wizard- and the cookies weren’t nearly as burnt as they were last time! Sugar Delight leapt onto the couch, bouncing excitedly on the cushions, eyes riveted on TACO and the magic wand.
“Please please please show us how the magic works, Taquita didn’t know but I can tell she wants to know and I really wanna know and we can all have special magic and it’s going to be so cool and super-wonderful and and and then I can tell Starlight that I know magic and she’ll be so proud of me!”

Sweat dripped down Taquita's face. This could go really well, or it could be horribly wrong. She gave her father an awkward glance. Yes, she was pawning her problem off on him.
TACO though, seemed to know what to do in the situation, and had told most of the children running around Phonyland that he was a wizard. After all, he had a cape.
He smiled his normal, charming smile. It had the power to melt the ladies to goo, or at least that's how he had explained it to her. Taquita had yet to see it actually work, and didn't believe that Phonies could be transmuted from flesh to liquid (except for technically when they were still in blister packs and made of plastic, because they started as liquid being injected into a resin mold. The birds and the bees were a lot more scientific than romantic in Phonyland).
"Okay little lady," TACO said in a booming voice, "I'm going to show you how this magic tube works." Taquita let out the breath she was holding; it seemed like he was playing along.
He grabbed a knife that was sitting on the end table next to the couch. From the looks of the remains around it, it was last used to peel an orange, and was a bit sticky. "First, I plunge my enchanted dagger into the great seal. There were once eight of these utensils, but some got lost when I moved. It seems to happen a lot." TACO pretended to struggle with wrapper, or at least Taquita hoped he was pretending.
"Now that the protective layer is off, I can release the wand from it's sheath." He paused for something unknown, then snickered, "that's what she said." Taquita groaned and shook her head.
TACO made a whooshing noise has he pulled the mascara brush out of the tube, then he did a fake trumpet fanfare, "Ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, taaaaaaaaa! The wand is free! Now observe as I force the magic to obey my commands. Lashous Fabulosus!" TACO then applied his make up the way he did every morning; to his daughter, there was nothing special about this. Taquita wasn't sure what she was expecting though.
"And, ta-da!" TACO declared, "My eyes look beautiful!"

Sugar Delight’s expression when from awed, to a little confused, to really confused, and right back into sheer unadulterated gob-smacked awed. His eyes did look beautiful! Sugar shrieked her little filly head off, bouncing from the couch, to in front of Taquita, back to the couch again.
“That was amazing! I’ve never seen magic like that before! I-“ Sugar Delight paused, eyes widening until there was sclera showing all around her iris. She leaned in, and with a surprisingly quiet voice, at least for her, she asked: “Me next?”

What.... she bought it? Taquita was in shock.
TACO rolled with it though. "I don't think that's a good idea. You should probably wait until you're Old Enough; Starlight would be really pissed if the magic went wrong and you put your eye out. Being a wizard is no joke. It takes lots of practice to not spread chaos and disorder. TACO isn't about that. TACO loves to spread the love."
But he didn't want to break the little filly's heart. He walked over to a cabinet, and swung the doors open. Inside, there were all sorts of cosmetic products. They were all neatly arranged, and hanging in their special order in the way another man would have hung up his tools. TACO grabbed a large brush that was used for applying blush. It had a black handle, pink bristles, and stamped in gold leaf along the side was "100% Unicorn Hair". He then grabbed a compact with deep pink, almost whore-ish, blush, and lightly dusted the tip of the brush in it. Then he called out in his wizard voice again, "Rosus Cheekus!" and applied it to his face.
TACO handed the brush and compact to Sugar Delight, "here, this one you can have. It's a little bit safer. When you master the magic that's inside this case, then I can show you other wonders. It'll take some time though before you can look this good; I'm a pro at this stuff."

Sugar Delight’s animated face spazzed, flipping through far too many emotions for the little filly to keep up with. Excited, awed, eyes watering a little, before just finally settling on an expression that can only be described as eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Little wiggly arms wrapped around TACO’s much larger one, hugging it with all her sugary strength (which wasn’t actually that much).
“Thankyouthankyou-“ incomprehensible squeal that almost sounded like a tearful choke. Sugar Delight sniffled, settling back down and carefully taking the brush and blush and promptly stuffing it into her hair, which did quite an amazing job of holding them. “You are my best friend ever.”

Taquita watched in disgust as the events unfolded. The fake magic, and the excitement, and the hug, and the raaaaaaahhhhh! It was just too much. She flopped down onto the nearest couch and sulked. At least the upside was that Sugar Delight didn't figure out she was lying about the brush being a magic wand. The ultimate downside though was that she had this sinking feeling that she would be seeing more of the other filly.
She watched as TACO patted Sugar Delight's massive pile of curly hair. "You're welcome!" he said smiling, "Here, take this also, and dry your face off". Then the stallion grabbed an electric pink and zebra striped scarf that matched his leg warmers from the make up dresser, and handed it to her. TACO looked pleased with himself; he was almost beaming.
Before things got any sappier, Taquita got up and rammed her head into Sugar Delight's flank, trying to push her out the door. "You really should be going now..." then she added through gritted teeth, "I'm sure we'll see you again soon".

Sugar Delight wasn’t even wearing the scarf right. Half of it was draped across her face and one tail was around her middle and the other dragging on the ground, but she didn’t care. She was just so happy and excited and things were awesome and she had to tell Starlight about her day right now. But before that, there were her customary absconding traditions to attend to. TACO was given another hug for the scarf before the little filly turned on the impatient Taquita. It was not the most graceful of tackle-hugs, more like a flop-hug than anything, but she was still perfecting her art.
“Thank you for bringing me over, it was fun!” Sugar beamed at her two new friends, scarf still draped over one eye before she turned and bounded off.
“I’ll see you laaaa~teeer!”
