Emmaline waved her hand to the others at the warm greeting they gave her. Candace seemed to be especially animated, and to be honest it was a little intimidating. "It's nice to meet you too," she replied with a small smile, before she began to follow the others inside. It did seem to be getting colder, and now that she was outside, there was a smell of something sweet and minty in the air...

But before they made it inside the door, the quiet cold was broken by an ear-splitting explosion. Emmaline jumped, and a second later a voice rang through the air and also seemed to be coming from their phones.

"Defense stations?" She glanced around quizzically. Clearly this was something to be afraid of, but she wasn't sure what to even expect anymore. The other mist hunters all seemed to know what was going on, and she felt utterly lost. Even as the others pulled out their own weapons, she felt the bracelet around her wrist shifting, and she grabbed it with the other hand before it could fall onto the ground.

Cass pulled forward on the chain around her waist with her thumb, one of the links relenting and snapping in half as the ends reformed into the familiar dual ends of her weapon - gun in one hand, blade in the other. "I think a few of us should head inside the dorms, the others should...s**t, do we know where the others groups have gathered up?" she asked. She...was pretty damn sure one of them was in the dorm, but...

"We have two other buildings we might want to check too.....and if we split up, no less than two people per group." she did a head count. There were five of them, it seemed, how would this break down?

Cassandra, check your phone to see if there are any calls for help.

Cass tucked the gun into her ammo belt and pulled out her phone, flipping through it to see if anybody had messaged... well.. any of them, then after a moment she sent out a message of her own;

istoleyurvamps
Marcus!! What was that noise? Is everything okay?

Drifter Jet Enduro
What's going on? Is everybody being attacked? Mist squad is looking to help out if we're needed.

iloveyouDIE
Bix!! What's going on? We haven't been attacked, but I hear other groups being attacked!! Do you know if Mists should move somewhere to help out?

danse-hexe
I know we're not friends and all, but this is Cass from Mist-Division! Is everything okay? We'll come help out if you guys need us!

"Alright, I've contacted somebody from each of the other divisions, if someone needs us, I hope they'll be able to respond and let us know!"
PostPosted: Sat Jan 07, 2012 11:55 am

Before considered Cass' suggestions as he studied their little group. "Basic trainee should pair up with an Intermediate trainee. I'll go on alone. Prolly better that way," he volunteered. "Thinking at least one pair oughta go to the defensive station now like the announcement said." it was more of a question than a suggestion but they were free to take it as the latter.

It wasn't too long after her barrage of texts she got a message back.

"Death Division says they have 'it' under control.... I don't know what 'it' is, but Otto says he'll contact me again if things get worse for their group. Which leaves us with Moon, Sun, and Life."

However, the note about the 'defensive station' had Cass wondering..where exactly...said defensive station was, to be honest. They were mists, they adapted and helped out other groups, so it seemed more logical to figure out where the other groups would have holed themselves up and run to give support.

Before immediately raised his hand, "I'll go check on the Lifers!" he declared. And before anyone could deny him his claim, he was off like a bullet! It occurred to him he had NO ******** CLUE where the Lifers had gathered, so he figured he'd run around listening for things that were going boom while hastily typing in a text to his friends still in the Life division.

Cass's phone went off again.

This time it was Bix.

"Bix says the Sun and the Moon Divisions are covered too and are heading to the Life Labs. I think it sounds like we should head there too." But it seemed...Before was already running off ahead of them.

Again, she sent off a message:

Drifter Jet Enduro
Moon and Sun say they're alright and they're heading to see if the Lifers are alright. We're going to go join 'em.

iloveyouDIE
Mist will go join up with you there, then! Death division told me they're holding up fine too.

"Alright, the others have a heads up to where we're heading, I'm..gonna follow Before!" she went running off after the ex-Lifer at a dead run.

In a flurry the other hunters pulled out phones and began furiously sending texts. Emmaline stood by and considered getting out her own, but decided against it. It wasn't like she knew anyone to text anyway, except maybe Wil... but he was probably off with his own division, and she didn't even know what to ask. She resolved to just follow along. "Okay, lead the way," she replied, even as the male hunter ran off ahead of them.

Lance!! What's going on? Are you alright? We just took down a giant Robot in the Life Labs and it sounds like there were at least three more..somethings..running around!

Is there any information in the base? I know it isn't normal-hours, but between you and the Moon Division's video surveillance, maybe we can get some clarification!

Sorry if I woke you up! You're the best!

Contrary to trainee belief, Lance was awake. A smug, self-satisfied grin was plastered on his face as he held a smoldering between two fingers. There was a small voice in his head that reminded him Aria would have his head whenever she returned because of it. And that she really didn't appreciate what he was doing right now.

The experienced hunter took a long draw from his cigarette, savoring the taste of smoke before tapping a reply that went out to all Mists.

Quote:

All divisions seem to be clear. There is some activity up in the Miss Taken Tower. Go check it out. Bring some buddies too. Lance, out.

General Information
As the general, jack-of-all trades division, the Mist Hunter training course is a combination of the other divisions' training challenges and also one of the more complicated. The goal of this course is to rescue the princess in the tower. Below her, you'll find yourself confronted with a number of shadowling attackers, and beyond them, a room of only slightly deadly traps. But even should you reach her location, you still need to pick the lock on the manacles holding her in place. Unskilled fiddling with the locks will prove unhealthy for both the princess and yourself. And once that's done, you need to make your way back down through the traps and shadowlings, defending the princess the whole way.

The Miss Taken Tower is one of the most challenging and frustrating courses available.

If you fail: your princess dies, and you are quite possibly KO'd. Senior hunters are observing and will make with a timely rescue as needed.

If you win: the princess will adore you for the rest of her exceedingly brief existence. Peen points for 100% health for you and the Princess, shadowlings fought, going for consecutive rescues.

Is it just you, or is there a lot more mist than usual...?

  • Part 1
    Mechanics
    - roll your regular attack
    - roll your regular attack again

OOC NOTE

While the initial message went out to Mists only, people from other divisions can participate! Everyone will be working together. In order to advance to the next stage...

If there are 1-2 hunters, BOTH must successsfully pass the current round to advance the stage!
If there are 3-5 hunters, THREE must successfully pass the current round to advance the stage!
If there are 5-9 hunters, FIVE hunters must successfully pass the current round to advance the stage!
If there are 10-14 hunters, SEVEN hunters must successfully pass the current round to advance the stage!
If there are 15+ hunters, TEN hunters must successfully pass the current round to advance the stage!

So if there are three hunters during Part 1, all three must attack twice in a row. Say they pass, and three more hunters join them.

There would then be six participants for Part 2. Five of them must make it past the traps.

etc etc. And yes, hunters may join MID-round!

Cass seemed a bit more winded when she made her way to the Mist-taken tower, having been doing quite a bit of jogging that day. And it was cold. Peeehhhhhhhhh.

Still, she was still somewhat...wired.... from having just fired upon that robot-thing that was going around.

However, she decided against just running into the building. Instead, she loomed, patiently, waiting for at least one other person to make their way there in order to storm the place. She'd been in there once before, but she didn't want to go down and have nobody watching her back.

She imagined based on Lance's warning the entire thing was... a bit more tricky than she'd experienced previously.

Candace had started toward where she'd heard an explosion come from inside the dorms building when something has mysteriously distracted her. Nobody knows what, and she refuses to make a comment. It was probably something stupid like...she had to...make sure her unicorn wasn't broken.

That was important, okay?

The text came just in time to stop her from wandering off too far, though the sender surprised her. Lance? He was awake? Huh! Well, alright then! That worked too. She'd never done the tower before...guess now was as good a time as any!

Marushii
Got it! Thought you were sleeping or I would've bothered you sooner!

- Candace

Before she put her phone away she sent out a couple quick texts.
Bilious
Hey, honey! Are you doing alright? If you're up for it the Mists are going to the Miss Taken Tower to check out something. Only come if you're in good enough condition for it, okay? I like you alive, darlin'. Stay safe! <333

Toshihiko Two
How you doing, buddy? The Mists are headed to the Miss Taken Tower to check something out. We're encouraged to bring backup. Wanna come with us if you're in good enough condition? Stay safe!

Was there anyone else? She didn't really have time to look through too much before she saw Cass running by. Oh right! s**t! "Come on, Molly." Candace turned on her heel and ran after Cass toward the tower.

She panted lightly once she stopped in front of the tower, looking up at it with a wary eye. "What kind of activity do you think he meant? I've never done the tower though, so other than what Clarice told me I don't know what's out of the ordinary here...you?"

If you're up for it, we're storming the Mist Taken tower at Lance's request. He says something is up with it. Care to join me, babe?

Cass had been texting her own guys when Candace had arrived with Molly, holding up her free hand and waving at her and Molly.

"Lance was pretty prompt to reply to my text. It looks like this is the last thing to take care of, though." she thumbed towards the tower. "I've gone through it once, but it was.... decievingly easy. I imagine that was to lure me into a false sense of security so that this time I'd throw myself in and.... throw myself in." she laughed a bit, imagining herself getting maimed to death by the shadows.

"If you've done any of the other trials, it goes about like this: There will be a shadow run first, then Deathsweeper, then some locks to unlock. After that at the top there is a princess.." or possibly something else in their case, and her tone implied this heavily, "which you then have to escort back down to the entrance through Deathsweeper and the Shadow Run again."

She tried to keep it relatively straight forward based on her experience.

Which was..one walk through.

"Either way, there are a lot of potential pitfalls to it."

[[ok so I didn't really go to Life...]]

She had been lagging behind the others on their way to the Life division when another roar had come from the distance. Shortly after, a beep came on her phone and she pulled it out to read the message.

There had been mentions of the Miss Taken Tower before, but she hadn't seen it with her own eyes before. "I've never done the tower either," she added quietly, as the group of Mist hunters ran towards the tower and stopped short before the looming building.

Meanwhile, the other hunters were still furiously texting on their phones, and Emmaline hoped that maybe that meant they would be getting some help on this mission. From what Cass described, the tower seemed incredibly intimidating.

"So... do we just go in?"
PostPosted: Sun Jan 08, 2012 11:40 am

((Lol! Soli <3 You're silly.))

"Ohhh, you alerted him to it? That explains that." Candace hummed thoughtfully, looking up at the tower. It certainly was imposing, huh? "Clarice was telling me about it once. She said it's nothing short of adventure and the princesses are always fun." She grinned then, circling her rings with her thumbs and bouncing a little on her toes. Jerry and Harrison needed to get back to her soon! Uuuuugh! Maybe..maybe if they cleared a couple areas it'd make their lives easier? She didn't know what kind of condition her boys were in... "A shadow run?" Okay, now she definitely wanted to go in and clear that out before Jerry got here.

At Emmaline's question of going in Candace tapped at her lips. "I suppose we could start clearing out the shadow run before the others get here. Personally I'd like to clear it out before Jerry arrives..." She didn't think it'd be right of her to say why, just that she really would like to do this.

And for a brief moment Molly was naked because Al was disappointed when she came back and saw she wasn't.

"The same Jerry that did the real Shadow Run with me and completely wiped the floor with the shadows? I can't see why......" He'd really been quite effective..albeit they'd both been singing a Disney song the entire time, so... that might have been part of why. But either way, Cass had to agree with that Candace was saying.

"I think we should start clearing things while the others catch up." she said with a nod, pulling both halves of Nicodemus from her belt as she walked towards the door. "It'll definitely be harder in the second half, so using less manpower on the first half will be more effective, I'd think."

"So, shall we?" she inquired, holding the door open in offering, "I'll go first if either of you would like."
