"I need more practice with it," Sherry murmured as she brought her weapon in close again. Wilson had deflected the blade for the most part, even pushing it back. Her blade was well balanced, but she'd had little practice with it, especially on targets that were at any real distance from her. It could be awkward and she just wasn't used to handling it like that. The momentum of it all caused her to take one full step back. "But that's why we do this, isn't it? Practice?" she continued to grin at Wilson. Her eyes still stung from that last attack of his, causing her to blink. Sherry's hands tightened on her weapon as she sized up the space between them. He had a pretty good idea of what her range was, and would be able to see an attack coming. So she waited. HP: 32/40 Damage: 0

His eyes crinkled. “Practice makes perfect, huh?” mused Wilson. It was her turn next. In a real battle, Wilson normally would have taken advantage of the hesitation and moved in for an attack of his own—or perhaps take the chance to flee if he was doing poorly. Caelius would probably look down on fleeing, but Wilson still had some sense of self-preservation. Sherry held her weapon tightly, eyeing the space between her and Wilson. He followed her gaze then stared at Sherry, his head cocked to the side. She wasn’t going to attack?
[Use your charged attack, Youngin’!] Oh yeah, I’d nearly forgotten about that. Wilson grinned. “Hope you don’t regret this.” Realistically, he had only used his charged attack once, maybe twice. He couldn’t recall, but the bottom line was he didn’t use it often. Hopefully he wouldn’t mess it up. Thankfully, when he aimed the two cannons at Sherry he released yet another stream of gas, only this was significantly worse than the previous ones. It was a large, billowing cloud of noxious green.

Waiting, as it turned out, wasn't her best idea. A point that Armagnac would take great pleasure in driving home. Hope I don't~ she began to repeat his words in her mind as he raised those cannons. Gas. It was, as she had already determined, a difficult thing to fight against. It was more unpredictable than a projectile, and it covered a larger area than a blade. Sherry readied herself to side-step the worst of his attack. This attack, however, was not like the attacks before it. It was larger and much harder to avoid. Her eyes watered, and even though she tried to hold her breath, her nose and throat burned. Her inital reaction was to recoil, eyes closed and coughing, but Armagnac was having none of that. Sherry knew the wyrm had a point, even if the weapon couldn't feel what Sherry did. So, instead of stepping back Sherry stepped forward, swinging her glaive in a sideways arc and hoping to catch the masked man with the blade. It wasn't much of a swing, but it was something. HP: 18/40 Damgage: 3

Wilson could clearly hear Sherry coughing. For a split second he felt guilty for hurting a fellow trainee. It seemed to have done a fair number on the woman, but he reassured himself that they could stop the spar at any time. Plus, she still seemed to be in pretty good condition and ready to keep on going. Though the guilt was still enough to convince him to stand still, to wait for the green cloud to dissipate and allow her a chance to recover. His eyes grew alert as he spotted Sherry’s murky figure from within the mist. Then he stepped back as he noticed the life trainee raising her glaive, except her reach was far too long for him to outpace. He managed to bring up his arms in front of his chest before giving Sherry a small scratch with the blades on his weapon. While his reach certainly wasn’t as great as Sherry’s, it was still enough to do something.

Well, he was certainly closer than she thought. On one hand, that was a good thing. On the other, not so much. Through her watering eyes and the remaining green haze, she could see Wilson, and she did indeed feel the blades on his weapon. Armagnac was still yelling, but at least it was constructive this time. More or less. Sherry started to back up, and at the same time brought the butt of her weapon up, moving to smack Wilson with the blunt end of her weapon. She would have told him that his last attack was quite good, but when she opened her mouth, she only coughed some more. Yep. That gas was something else. HP: 17/40 Damage: 3

Hit him with her weapon she did, and pretty decently, in fact. While it might not have been the strongest hit, it also gave him enough force to send Wilson stumbling a couple steps backward. He brought up a clumsy arm to cover his chest, right at the spot Sherry had managed to smack with the end of her weapon. Wilson coughed as he patted his chest a couple times. Normally the hit wouldn’t have affected him this much, but sometimes the gas mask made it difficult to breathe, yet he couldn’t exactly take it off and put it on whenever he wanted.
Before he could squeeze in a retaliating attack, Wilson heard Sherry cough as well. He stood in place, but sounded worried as he spoke, “Sherry, are you okay?”

Sherry coughed again. "I'm fine," she swallowed. The smoke was clearing, but her eyes and throat still burned. "I'm fine, really." Sherry didn't want to be weak. She never wanted to be weak, and admitting that she was having trouble breathing could be seen as weak. Armagnac's rant continued. It took a matter of moments, but Sherry got the point. "I'm alright, I can still fight," and to prove the point, she turned her weapon, and swung her blade at Wilson. It might have not been the nicest thing to do, but she was in battle mode, with a wyrm screaming in her head. Sherry did, however, make a mental note that she would apologize to Wilson later. Maybe buy him a drink, or at least a cupcake. HP: 17/40 Damage: 9

Sherry’s words didn’t sound too convincing to Wilson, but he didn’t say much about it. “If you insist.” Caelius might have called Sherry weak, but Wilson never would. They were all trainees. They were all in the same boat. They all came from varying backgrounds and were individual entities with different sets of skills. Divisions existed for a reason, and Wilson was in the death division and not the sun division for a reason too.
The second time she reassured him, she rose to prove it with a swing of her blade, which pushed him back a couple yards. With the wind knocked out of him, Wilson tried to place a hand over his chest. “That’s…good,” he managed to sputter out as he countered with a swipe of his own.

His last blow caused her to take a couple steps back. Her eyes did still sting, and so did her throat, though not as bad as before. She had also heard him. He sounded winded as she was. Armagnac hissed with glee. You like this too much.Sherry gave her head a small shake, and looked at Wilson. "How about you? Doing alright?" She was genuinely concerned. She readjusted her grip on her weapon, but instead of attacking, she took another step back. It sounded like they could both use a moment, anyway. HP: 14/40 Damage: 0

Wilson laughed. While Sherry did look a bit worse for wear, he was probably worse off than she was. The life trainee sure knew how to hit, or maybe Wilson didn’t know how to dodge properly. “Not the greatest, but I don’t need to go to the labs yet.” [Yet.] Yeah. His weapon huffed impatiently, about to babble even more if the man hadn’t suddenly run forward to bash her arms with his heavy cannons.
By now, fighting for Wilson was beginning to look a lot like: bash, stab, or gas.

Sherry did her best to avoid his sudden bash, but she knew she'd have bruises on her arms. Just add them to the others, she thought. It hurt a bit, but it was good to know she could take it. That's what these spars were all about, after all. "Just let me know if we need to stop," even as she said it she used the butt of her weapon to jab at him and put a bit of distance between them. HP: 11/40 Damage: 3

Wilson released another billowing cloud of gas before he relaxed and took in Sherry’s words. He rolled back his shoulders. Yeah, stopping now might be a good idea. “I think stopping now would be a pretty good idea. I think one of our shields might drop—or both, I’m not completely sure.” He slid off one of the cannons, letting it dangle so he could offer a hand to Sherry. “It was a good spar, though. Thanks!”

Sherry stepped back, and even as she did she realized Wilson was releasing another burst of gas. And she had no way of avoiding it. She tried not to inhale it, but that did little to stop it's effects. Couple that with the gas from before, and well, Sherry found she was relieved when Wilson spoke again. "Couldn't agree more," she coughed, stepping forward to accept his hand. "I don't know if I could take any more of that gas." She smiled and gave his hand a warm shake. Sherry felt it went well, being her first go at sparring and all. She'd learned a lot. She'd learned that gas was one hell of an annoying weapon to fight against, and she'd learned that Wilson seemed like a nice guy. Perhaps they could be friends. "It was fun, but I think could use some water." She desummoned Armagnac and turned. She wasn't sure if she needed medical attention, but some rest and a bandaid might be nice. "Shall we?" HP: 5 Syusaki Pretty much wrapped up then?

Wilson laughed uneasily. “Hahaha. Um. Sorry about that.” He took her hand in a firm grip and briefly shook it before he went to pull down his mask. Wilson took in a breath of clear air while he wiped off beads of sweat from his forehead. The trainee nodded his head in agreement. “Some water sounds pretty good right about now!” He took off his mask and let his weapon revert back into its unsummoned form. “That was pretty good for a spar, I think.” Smiling, Wilson offered his hand to Sherry one more time as he began to walk backwards toward the cafeteria. “We shall.”
