Love is not rainbows and sunshine and sparkles. It is frequently the cause of a lot of unpleasantness.
It is also maybe the most valuable thing you'll ever have.

A poem without a title. I actually just came up with this on a whim. So enjoy~
Love is something that can mean commitment
A feeling some aren't used to
A feeling that makes us squirm
Love is something that hurt our hearts
Yet make our souls feel whole
A fleeting feeling
Coming and going
A complex feeling
Never sure what direction it will take
However
I know
That love is something special
And it does not discriminate based on
Race
Or age
And never gender heart

Love, in most cases, is unattainable.
It is a state of being, not an emotion. When you feel love, you may not be IN love. Love is wanting to be with a person all the time, but knowing when to back off. Love is not caring about the person on the outside but the one within.
Love is not always romance. You can love a friend, a coworker, your boss (though not as often). You love family because you have people like you.
Love is never wanting to lose a person, no matter what they are in a sense of relationships. I love my best friend. I don't want to date him, but I still love him.
I love my girl, some love their guys, and really who can blame them? When you are in love its not your choice of who you love. Not when it is truly in love. When you truly love someone, you love who they are. And nothing aside from complete memory loss AND a change in personality (for them) will ever make you stop.
Love is, simply put, Love.

Well.. Ummmm....
Love is...
An old couple holding hands in the park knowing that they only had eyes for eachother.
Wanting to die at the same time as their partner. Why? Because to them a single minute without the other feels like a years of painful eternity....
Knowing that no matter what happens they can work through the rough patches and come out even better than before....
and ummm... heres a quote I like a lot....
When asked about the subject of love
The body replied "A pysical act to pro-create"
The mind replied "A illogical and useless thing that makes bad decisions"
The emotions replied "Something that can only bring pain and suffering to ones heart in the end"
But the heart kept whispering in an urging tone "Give it a try, give it a chance, you won't know what your missing till its to late and gone... Love with everything you have and be joyous in the fact that you can..."

Love is never being alone, because the people you love are always in your heart. And not having eyes for anything, but them.

I know he loves me when I come home from a long day of work and boything rubs my feet, despite being on them for hours and likely having an odor to it. >_>BogiePop but stds and aids are almost as bad pregnancy neutral
