((lol, blue eyes, black hair XD sorry for any confusion...))

Cerulean straightened, brushing herself clean, ripping her bag free; it had become the prisoner of a branch, and approached the two men. She didn't realize that she had leaves and twigs stuck in her hair so there they stayed. Cheeks flushed with embarrassment she smiled broadly, "Hello. Sorry...I saw...um....yes well." She stammered, the smile slipping after her initial greeting, her gaze always tracking back to the fox man's tail. It looked so splendidly soft....

A sigh escaped her before she could stifle it and her face turned redder still, "Hello kind sirs." She finally managed.

His attention never wavered from the young lady, and he offered a pleasant grin to her after exhaling some smoke into the air. His tail shifted behind him and he chuckled lightly behind a hand at the state of her hair. "Hello, Miss." He offered, and then gave a light gesture to her head. "Ya picked up some... tag-alongs. Sometimes the trees can't help it, ya know?" He looked back to the strange male again, and then back to the female. Quite an exciting day for him.

Zhulim's tail wagged back and forth just slightly with his amusement, and for the moment he did not seem to realize the girl's attention to his fur.

Oh, sorry about the eye/hair color mix-up, Scarlett!

~~~~~~~~
Seeing she meant no harm, Zarin relaxed and responded, "Hello, miss. I am Zarin and this is Zhulim." The girl appeared disheveled and embarrassed, so he hoped his greeting would ease her. After she replied, Zarin turned around and began toward the town ahead with, "Well, perhaps we may find what each of us seeks in civilization, friends."
Zarin unbuttoned his coat, revealing a gray shirt to anybody before him, as he searched through his various pockets for any technology at all. He'd taken only a short few steps when he found an object in one of his pockets. Yes, something to help me survive this backward era! Pulling it out of his coat, he found it to be only a PID. Oh great... a Personal Information Device is great and all, but something of more utility would've been nice. Well, if I need to know the date, time, barometric pressure, or a whole host of other essentially useless tidbits, I'm set... His pace slowing form disappointment, he hung his head and returned the stopwatch-sized gadget to a more accessible pocket.
(( cat_4laugh ))
"Huh?" Then she saw the fox man gesturing and she gasped and turned away quickly. She hurried back closer to the trees and began picking at her hair, making soft distressed sounds at the amount of detritus falling. When she didn't feel anymore she straightened and then caught sight of her bags. She hauled it out and turned back to the men in time to see the strange one pull out some odd device. She was, however, distracted by the movement of....Zhulim's tail.
She moved closer for now, ignoring Zarin, in favor of Zhulim, "Um...I'm so sorry to ask you this." She paused, "Um...is it alright if I....if I just...." she didn't quite finish her sentence but gestured towards his tail.
”Are you sure that you can commit to him for the rest of your natural life? That is how the fox people do it, or am I mistaking you with wolves again?” The robed man from the tower stepped calmly towards the three people that had gathered not too far into the woods. He spoke to them as he walked, not caring if they were dangerous (Which they obviously weren't) or friendly.
He walked towards the girl first, purpose in his eyes. ”To you a gift of food.” With a carefully practised flourish, he offered her the apple, leaving it hanging in mid air in front of her. Spinning on the spot, he flickered and reappeared in front of Zhulim. ”To you a gift of precious metals.” With less of a flourish, though more of a bow, he left the small silver knife in the air. And finally he flashed to the middle of the group facing Zarin. ”And to you a gift of knowledge.” As it wasn't a physical gift, the robed man instead gave a deep bow, both his beard and hat scraping the ground before he rose.
”I would suppose that an introduction would be in order from me, especially if I can already read things off of you. There are many names that are attached to me, not all of them good. A mad man. An evil sorcerer. Occasionally just 'Get out'. Allow me to introduce myself as Fredrik Markson, Magician and scholar.”
Cerulean jumped in surprise and beheld another stranger, this one, she could have sworn came out of nowhere. She stiffened when he approached her, his intense gaze a bit unsettling. And then the apple appeared. She blinked at it as it bobbed before her as floating on the surface of water she could not see. Cautiously, she plucked it out of the air. It was yellow and red, like a sunrise that promised rain for later. But then her benefactor was gone and giving gifts to the other two.
Her gaze flicked nervously to Zhulim before returning to...the mad man, apparently, though that was an impolite thought and she instantly chided herself. Even if he was the one to say it first, it was still uncalled for.
[ Sorry it took me so long, I've been dealing with Convention stuff, and I wanted to wait for other people to get a post in.
You're alright, Scarlett ;3 ]
Zhulim turned his head to watch Zarin wander away a bit, tilting his head slightly. He'd been there for a few nights, already... What he sought out was work, in which he was actually waiting on an offer made to him earlier that morning. His attention returned to the girl in front of him, and after a puff off his kiseru, he had opened his mouth to speak.
There was a shift in the corners of his lips, his smile turning more to a smirk of slight annoyance as he was interrupted. His tail swished slightly before becoming still, both to stop drawing attention, and from the change of attitude. "Yeah... Yer knowledge is... mostly right. Wolf's have that... Huggin' thing they do. An' their ears." He looked a little uncomfortable, and shifted a little with another puff off his pipe.
The fox had almost been able to return his attention to Cerulean again, when the rude one presented gifts. While he was unimpressed, the knife dangling by invisible threads caught his eye. His tail swished again, and he cautiously reached to receive it. Silvers were especially appreciated by him, and though he was enchanted by the blade, he gave the Magician a suspicious look.
"T' touch a Vulpini tail... Is only fer mates t' do." he explained to the girl while he still looked away.
Cerulean stumbled backwards, "Oh! Oh no! I'm so sorry! I just....it just looked so soft! I mean...erm...well, it's just I. Oh no, how rude of me. I've only met one of your kind before but she was in her fox form and she was really mad and...hurt and scared because she'd been shot by an arrow. She crash landed in one of our fields back home and it took ages before she'd let my father and brothers close enough so they could pull the arrow out. I mean, I didn't think it would be that big of a problem but the arrow had this weird glow to it and everything but my brothers didn't see it. They wouldn't let me very close but she was beautiful. And she had six tails. I counted them. Every morning I'd sneak out to say hello. She just stared at me though and didn't seem to understand me, but she must have. Anyway, I used to count her tails and tell her she was beautiful and then run away. I was 6."
At this point she managed to clap her own hand over her mouth to stop the babbling, eyes wide. Had she even stopped to breathe? She was red again, of course. So very red now. Where had that come from? It'd just spilled out. Great way to introduce yourself as the country bumpkin, Rule, she berated herself mentally.
((Oh, that's good. Convention? That sounds fun...))
Ren stood just outside the gate, looking around him, admiring the view. And as usual, he was talking aloud to himself.
"Ahhh, look at the sun on those trees! Quite an interesting-looking forest, eh? I wonder what sort of secrets lie tucked away under those boughs! And look, a road, stretching endlessly to either horizon! Each one, a road to uncounted adventures and inspiring places, whereupon one might meet any sort of folk one could imagine, and plenty one could not imagine!"
He ignored the annoyed travelers bumping into him, jostling past him to get through the gate. He raised a hand to shade his eyes.
"Why, speak no more! For yonder strides a quite unimaginable person!" Immediately he walked forwards towards Zarin, who was still rather a ways off. "Ah, greetings! You look a fair bit disappointed by something, good sir! Might I offer my condolences, and perhaps a bit of company to cheer you up a mite? There now, you are quite the unimaginable fellow, look at your clothing! My, you must be from quite far away, I think. Bernshollow? Myers Town? Oh don't tell me, it must be Greens, they are peculiar folk there or so I've heard, begging your pardon, I do consider it quite a compliment...."
More travellers turned to stare, and hurriedly shuffled past him with worried looks, for Ren was shouting rather loudly as he was still quite distant from the man with whom he was, er, speaking. And he didn't seem as if he was going to stop shouting, or talking, anytime soon.
A man in robes approached them, bearing a gift for each, though given what Zarin "received," he wondered if the gesture was really a gift. Left a bit confused by the eloquence of this polite newcomer, Zarin had stopped walking toward the town. Zarin's attention was snatched from this Fredrik person when another voice, this time from the direction of the town, sounded out. This voice seemed to be speaking to him, which was at least more interesting to him than a supposed magician (Zarin, being from the distant future, didn't believe in the existence of magic. Surely at some point on this journey he will discover how wrong he is about that.)
Zarin heard the words of the far-away stranger and waited until he was closer to respond, "Hail to you as well. Yes, I just realized that I am low on supplies at present. I was about to head to the town to pawn this trinket." He once again retrieved the PID from his pocket, its metallic surface gleaming in the sunlight. "I believe I can get a decent rate on the metal parts of this at least. I may even be able to convince a shop owner that it is magical," he chuckled, then continued after pausing to think of how to formulate the name of his homeland in this language, "Indeed, I am from a distant land named Neonia."
((First time trying to rp in quite some time. Here's my first attempt at jumping back into the world of rping...)
Somewhere along the wall of the western entrance, a young man sat down with a book opened sitting in front of him. He would stare at a page for a few seconds before flipping to a new page. Although his attire was mundane for the most part, there were a few tidbits that would stand out should someone pay attention to him. Tied to the pinkie of his left hand was a small crimson-red ribbon and on the other hand was a black and red fingerless glove; there were a large number of pouches around what would amount to a leather belt and he wore some strange tabi-like shoes. Perhaps the most was the color of his slightly overgrown hair. It was a light orange color with the tips of each stand changing to a white. The man let out a sigh before flipping another page.
"Mucco.... no.....what's that symbol mean again? Er. Let's try another one....erm...za...za....zaaaaaa.....ugh. It's no use. I can't translate these. I'll just wait for the spell to change the text to my written language."
"Allow me to look, i can allow you to read it without wait."
"I don't want to read them that badly so I'll just wait some more. Besides, i may not even need to use this book before i return home."
"Why return to where you have nothing."
"All i have to do is wait...and i might end getting home too. Yep...lotsa, lotsa waiting. For now I'll just travel this place, it'll give me something to do."
"Can you truely believe in such things?"
"Mmmhmm."
Givining up on translating the book in front of him, he put the book away into one the pouches. From the same pouch he produced a journal and pen to begin writting about his general surroundings. In the far off distance he could see the figures of a few people interacting with each other.
((quick note: there's white text there that's ment to be a second voice only Neige(character name) can hear, i made it white so it can look like he's talking to himself. Sorry for the post being long as well... sweatdrop ))
Lenox glanced over her shoulder quickly to be sure no one was watching. It was late at night, almost dawn but she still had time. She stood on a sidewalk facing a brick highrise apartment building,a half empty can of orange spray paint in her left hand. She tapped her combat-booted foot impatiently as she read through the script on the wall in front of her. It was in her own spikey hand, though the language was one not known to most people in this part of London, or of this world for that matter. She came to the end of the writing which looked to be something like a poem and her pointed features wrinkled in annoyance. The last word was missing. Like the young man several worlds (and dimensions) away, she too was having trouble with translation.
She closed her eyes and put her head in her free right palm, trying to think. After several seconds she looked up at the wall again and taking her lip in her teeth began to uncertainly place the letters for the last word. She put a last flourish on the final "e" and cocked her head slightly while she read through it one last time. She wasn't terribly confident in the spelling. She stepped back and took a peek up at the window on the third floor. A sneer raised one side of her lip. Cheating b*****d. she thought to herself, her expression becoming more resolute. Had another fae been able to read over her shoulder at that moment, they may have been able to stop her. To tell her that indeed her spelling was atrocious and that the spell she was about to cast would not have the intended consequences. Unfortunately, this was not the case.
The skinny woman in a leather jacket and torn jeans with an ice blue "wolf tail" haircut (buzzed on the sides with the top pulled back into a pony tail) reached up a small hand with long slender fingers and placed it on the still wet spray paint. She closed her eyes and let her head fall as she leaned against the wall. An astute observer might have seen the small ripple spread from her hand through the writing on the brick before the writing itself was absorbed by the wall. A not-so-astute observer would still not fail to notice that the wall's inscriber had disappeared entirely...
Something didn't feel quite right when Lenox exhaled. The wall under her hand felt different somehow, springier in a way, and the sidewalk under her feet strangely seemed to let her sink in just a bit. Also it was light out. How long have I been standing here? she had time to wonder, just before panic set in as she heard someone shouting behind her. "Bugger!" she said softly to herself as her eyes snapped open and she turned poised to scarper.
The panic of the previous moment was replaced in rapid succesion by: first a feeling of Extreme Confusion, chased away by a Dawning Realization, followed by a brief interlude of Frustration, a quick pit stop in a moment of Full Comprehension before squealing full circle back to Panic with the smell of burning rubber. All this took place in a matter of seconds as the fae took in the forest that surrounded her and the booming (drunken?) voice less than 100 yards away. One thing was clear: Her spell had backfired.
((Been awhile but it's fun to be back! This is a weird revamp of an older character who was male, but hey, sex changes can be fun right? Also it's long...sorry, it was a bit pent up I think))
Zhulim tried dismissing the rudeness of the magician, as it seemed interruptions were going to start becoming frequent. In the distance he heard the booming voice of another calling out to the other foreigner. His ears twitched, and then shifted back a little. While he wasn't trying to annoy the girl, distractions were easy when one heard so well. The presented blade was soon wrapped in fabric and tucked into the sash of his pants.
"A six-tail... She must'v been a fine vixen..." He murmured, finally answering Cerulean. He decided to just turn and face her again, to try and not become interrupted once more. "Not all of us speak human languages... Ya might've gotten somethin' t' her, but it's likely a six-tail knew nothin' you could say."
The fox shifted, and his head tilted to sniff at the air. His ear perked again as he glanced towards the forest. He took a longer drag on his smoking instrument, and the smoke came out in twining spirals, from his mouth, the face of a fox almost seen where it gathered above his head. "So much fer havin' no competition fer work..." He smirked faintly.
The fae fought to quell her rapid heartbeat as she took in her surroundings. She was in a forest and based on the smell of woodsmoke, probably fairly near a village. Lenox tried to think back through the spelling on the wall, tried to remember what exactly she'd written. It was hopeless. Clearly she's made a mistake. Her knowledge of magic was enough that she knew it was unlikely she was in even the same dimension she had come from.
She still had her can of spray paint, but it would take some thought and time to work out the correct words (and she thought to herself, let's be honest, the spelling) that would return her to her London. In the meantime, she needed to know where, and possibly when, she was. Thus decided, she set off toward the bellowing voice, which while loud and accompanied by a general crashing through the underbrush kind of sound nonetheless failed to sound especially dangerous. To be on the safe side, she reached in the pocket of her riveted leather jacket and opened the largest blade of her small swiss army style knife, keeping it concealed.
Her progress through the forest was much quieter than the sound toward which she moved. Nevertheless the variety of chains and buckles on her jacket and boots still clinked softly as she moved, and she was unaccustomed to moving in the woods. Before long she could see what was making the racket, and she cocked her head slightly as she took stock. It was a tall man in a pink shirt-thing. His face was flushed and he gestured grandiosely (nearly clotheslining a number of travelers near him) as he meandered through the crowd near a gate, evidently to the settlement she had smelled in the woods.
As she approached what must be a thoroughfare she noticed a group standing near the edge of the forest in conversation. One of them had a fox tail. One of them had teal hair. There must be an anime convention somewhere nearby... she thought to herself before shaking her head and laughing quietly to herself. As a fae, she was well used to the fact that many things which people in her world believed didn't exist did in fact exist.
Cerulean stayed still, her hand still over her mouth. She noticed Zhulim's ears swivelling around. It must be really noisy...she thought. She remembered the hounds back home doing that. She had the sudden desire to grab ahold of one of his ears but she squashed it, not wanting to offend him. There were some noises that she could hear with her ordinary human ears, someone shouting. She thought she heard something in the direction of the woods and turned, dropping her hands finally. She didn't see anything, not initially anyway and she turned away, returning her attention back to Zhulim.
"Um...oh." She replied, "Well....anyway, she got better and...she was gone one morning." She didn't mention the carved stone she'd found in her place, or the fact that she'd fashioned it into a necklace that now sat against her skin, hiding beneath her shirt, "So, anyway, I guess I'll stop pestering you. I've got to find work or at least a place to stay so...bye."
She turned to walk away but then stopped and hurried back, "You can call me Rule, by the way. It was a real pleasure meeting you." She paused, "Okay, bye." She whipped around and hurried away towards the town, hoisting her pack higher on her shoulder.
