Serenity continued galloping until she came to where a brunette stood with her hands clutched in front of her. Serenity walked up to the girl and nuzzled her cheek, trying to relieve any stress she might be under.
"I am sorry I took so long, my friend, but I found another Azrein in the woods. She hasn't been treated very kindly and I told her not all humans were as cold- hearted as the ones she has encountered,"Serenity explained.
"Oh, I am sorry to hear one of your kind has been treated so badly by my own kind, Serena. You know I am sorry some of my kind act like idiots,"the girl sighed.

Kessling had stopped by the rise at the sight of the human. It was small and didn't look cruel or dangerous. That was a good thing. She sniffed the wind nervously but came no closer for the moment. She stood and vibrated strongly, the reverbrations rippling through her body. She hadn't been this scared in a long time. Her dark eyes rolled and it was all she could do to stay still.
She wished the other mare would come back. Serenity was a comforting presence.

Serenity gave her chosen a look that clearly told the other that it wasn't her fault about some of her kind. Then she walked over to where Kessling was and smiled to the dark horse.
"You can come out of hiding and come meet my friend. I have told her about your situation and she wants to meet you,"Serenity explained to her with a soft smile. She could only hope the other would come and meet her chosen.

Kessling slowly and hesitantly approached the human. She stayed glued to Serenity's side so she could use the other mare as support. It was hard to walk with the way she was shivering but somehow the two managed to reach the young girl. Kessling stood frozen unable to move or speak, her fear was so great. She waited for the human to make the first move.

Serenity helped her new friend over to her chosen and when they reached her, she looked to the human.
"Dea, this is the mare I told you about when I found you,"Serenity explained. She watched as Dea looked the other mare over, then walked to where they were and gently place a hand on Kessling's head. She gently stroked her hair and gave her a gentle smile.
"Hello, dear one, my name is Deanna. I am sorry to hear about the treatment you have been put through,"Dea spoke soothingly, her voice coming out like melodic chimes being gently blown by the wind.

Kessling started a little as the girl touched her. Her ears flicked forward and back. She had a nice voice and her touch was gentle. Kessling was still on edge however. She flinched waiting for pain that didn't come. She blinked and slowly started to relax.
"Thank you, my humans were never so gentle."

Serenity watched Kessling started to relax and knew Dea was showing that not all humans were monsters. She and Dea shared a soft smile, knowing they would help this mare to the best of their ability.
"Well, those humans you dealt with were idiots, not like Dea at all. She hates seeing others mistreated and she was quite upset when I told her what happened to you,"Serenity spoke.
"You obviously have never been in the presence of a nice human and that's a shame. You may be different, but that's a good thing, everyone is different in some way,"Dea explained, continuing to stroke Kessling's head.

Kessling slowly leaned her head into the human's hand. Tears started to form in her eyes as a ancient wound slowly began to knit itself together. It would take time for Kessling to get used to other humans but this one was not bad. She went so far as to c**k a hind leg and enjoyed her first contact with humans in ten years.
"You would not believe how good this feels. All I ever wanted was a gentle touch."

Serenity walked over to stand beside Dea and she watched her chosen give attention to Kessling. She could see that Kessling had been badly hurt and she felt sorry for the dark mare.
"Well, I will protect you as best as I can from now on, dear one. You should never have to endure the pain you have had to go through. I will take care of you and make sure you are safe,"Dea assured.

"Thank you so much, perhaps...perhaps eventually we could find a chosen for me? Serenity seems so happy and I think after a while I might be able to tolerate other humans. But for now it would be best if I didn't see to many new humans least I freak out." Kessling turned to Serenity. "Thank you for showing me your human."

Serenity gave a gentle nod of her head, to let Kessling she understood her appreciation.
"Yes, perhaps we will find a chosen for you one day, dear one. For now, we will take care of you and make sure you are not hurt. We will also make sure you are exposed to other humans little by little,"Dea replied. She knew Kessling would take some time before she trusted many humans and she couldn't really blame her.

"I never really thought I would bond, but I thank you for your help. Where shall we head for the night?" Kessling gazed up at the sky and noticed it was getting lighter. She was kind of afraid of the light as here weak eyes now attested to, they were quite light sensitive.

Serenity looked to her chosen, wondering what she would propose for them to do for the night.
"My husband told me of a little place not far from here, a place the welcomes anyone loyal to the king. I am not sure how far it is from here, but he promised me that the people and Azrein then were about as nice as the ones at home. I think we should find this place and spend the night, before heading home. I also need to remember to introduce you to my husband, he may take you as one of his Azrein,"Dea mused.

"Oh like a stable? I have never stayed in one. That sounds like fun." She gave a tremulous smile. "Your husband? What is he like?" She was curious. "To be someones true azrein would be wonderful, to not have to worry about rejection or disappointment or being separated. You never know how lonely you are until the world has rejected you as a freak, an undesirable. I never did anything wrong."

"Yes, I am sure they probably have stables, which would keep you dry if it decides to rain and keep you warm when it gets cold tonight. As for my husband, he really is a wonderful guy, who has a deep respect for Azrein. I think he gets pretty upset when anyone mistreats any of you, as do I. He is a knight for the king, so he is very brave and will do what he needs to keep everyone safe. Plus, he always makes sure my family is taken care of, human and Azrein alike. I think you would really like him, he is just amazing,"Dea smiled, probably gushing a little bit as she spoke.
