As Landry went for the armdrag take down, Malice attempted to prevent that by grabbing Landry's arm, pulling him closer and attempt an armdrag take down of his own.

((Writing a finish because neither of us can do it justice right now.))
After the initial flurry and quick moves by Landry, the power and ring-generalship of Malice began to take over. Landry was being tossed around the ring like a rag doll, and was quickly busted open again by a wild chair shot that Mike ran straight into. Malice took the match outside the ring to induce further punishment, including hurling Landry into the barricade, the steel steps, and hotshotting him onto the announce desk. Landry was able to fight back, however, and slide off of Malice's shoulders during another power move and shove him face first into the ring post, which was a dampened blow given the mask he was wearing. Landry also was able stun Malice from a chair shot long enough to set him up on the announce table and launch himself from the top rope and crash through the table with a leg drop.
The fight was back and forth, though it seemed that Malice was dealing more punishment, and Landry was only just fighting back enough to keep himself alive and deal damage here and there before being turned back around. At one point, Landry tried for a Hurricanrana on the outside, but was caught, turned around, and was planted violently on his face and chest from a reverse Alabama Slam...straight into the casket. The shot forced Malice to hit his forarm on the casket and cringe from the blow and didn't follow up immediatly, giving Landry enough time to recover and force his leg up when he tried to shut the casket door, then kick it back up into Malice's face. Malice backed off and Landry rose from the casket, jumping up onto the apron and the second rope, leaping off and nailing Malice with an Asai Moonsault on the outside. The crowd was on their feet, but it seemed that Landry was completely exhausted.
Malice was able to regain control and keep up his offence, slamming Landry at will at the ringside area. Malice pulled Landry up to his feet by his hair, forcing him onto the apron perpendicular to the casket while Malice stood on the one parallel, intending to suplex him into the casket from the corner. It was at that moment that Phoenixfire ran down the ramp and into the ring, forcing a delay in the action. Landry was let go as Malice questioned her presence, and Phoenixfire, flaunted her wedding ring, wrapping her hands around her husband's neck and stairing deeply into his eyes. It had seemed that she had changed her allegiance back to Malice and was willing to encourage him to do more damage.
"Take off your mask...let me kiss the lips I so love..." she pleaded, her words caught up by the closest cameraman. Malice obliged her, slowly raising his mask and leaning in to plant a kiss on Athena's lips...but Phoenixifire pulled back and threw a blinding white powder straight into the eyes of Malice, backing away quickly. This had given Landry the opportunity he needed and he sprang back to life, jumping up and springboarding off the top rope and rotating in mid air, grabbing Malice's head and neck and pulling him down with him for a Suicide Overcastle, Landry's big match standbye move.
The move caused Chrono to fall straight into the casket, Landry just next to it after landing harshly on the thin outside mats below. The audience popped to life, cheering loudly, urging Landry to his feet to finish the match. Phoenixfire slid to the outside, trying to awaken her son's father to finish Malice off. She wrapped Landry's arm around her neck, lifting him up so that he could reach forward with the last of his strength...and...CLOSE THE LID!
The audience exploded in cheers as the bell was run. Landry had finally won decisively, defeating the man who had plagued him for so many months. Athena seemed to have finally chosen the side of good, and Mike would finally be able to see his son grow up. He used Athena like a crutch as the realization of what had just happened hit him, and he leaned against the barricade, hugging Athena for all he was worth, pressing her ear close to his lips, "Thank you...thank you..." he said. They continued up the ramp together, Landry's arm raised as he stared back at the closed casket. He knew it wasn't over. He knew there was still the Royal Rumble now that he still had his career, but this would always be the biggest victory of his career.
