A Crimson flit slipped through the front door and scampered across the floor up to Falkjir. She chirped and climed the table to him wraping along is arm. Falkjir smiled at her "Hello my friend" He petted her head and smiled at her. "Why arn't you at home? Have you come to cheer me up?" The flit cherped more and pushed her snout against his neck. He looked around at all the happy people with their dragons and he looked down at the Flit "Even if I never impress you're good enough for me. You're so much easyer to take care of and you wont get very big." He smiled at her and petted her.

The time since the Hatching had passed like a dream. Arjikith had luxuriated in the reprieve, lolling between oiling, eating, and sleeping in a state of completely relaxed bliss. Through their newly formed bond, his rider had experienced the sedate delight in addition to his own, as if having Impressed hadn’t been pleasure enough on its own. Today though, he had dredged his way out of that contented mire and scrubbed the oil off his own hide to make himself presentable to the feast.

And he was more than presentable. Having originally come from an exceptionally poor family at a fishing hold, the new rider hadn’t come with any sort of allowance from his family, but he had been a hard worker in all his turns of Candidacy and he’d been vain enough to spend good coin on good clothes. The dark brown jerkin he wore was trimmed in pale blue thread that glinted softly in the light, and the boots he had blessedly grown into clacked softly on the floors as he approached the hall. His long black hair had been braided back in a severe queue and he cut an austere figure as he entered and made a respectful bow to the weyrwoman. Not to be outmatched, the brown dragon at his side had overcome his laziness in the sake of egotism. Like many of the other newly fledged dragonets at the feast, he was well oiled for the occasion, but what was more was the preening way he strode into the room. As his rider bowed to the weyrwoman, Arjikith preformed a draconic version of the same move, unfolding his wings slightly for extra flare. As the pair moved off into the room K’zair cut a glance at the pale brown as he adjusted the new knot on his shoulder.

If you weren’t such a handsome thing that would have looked ridiculous, he noted.

But I am, so it didn’t, Arjikith answered confidently and, tossing his head, turned towards the steely blue only a few feet away and gave a hum of greeting as he approached with his rider in tow. Hello, Bolth. Mine and I have just arrived. His name is K’zair; who is Yours? She seemed very brave the other day. Before your hatched, Firith pounced on her and I don’t think she even screamed.

Wykla found that she wasn't the first to the meat table, which pleased her. Although she thought the riders of said dragons there should have been feeding theirs. It wasn't her place to say, so she moved gently among the young dragons. She luckily found several pieces that was small enough for Shirisis.

Moving out of the way for the dragons she popped a couple pieces into the demaning flit. Wykla offered a piece to Boreal who took it out of politeness. She chuckled at him. As she was feeding another piece to Shirisis, one of the new riders came up to her.

"Enyo! Congrats on your Impression. Where is your dragon?" She looked around surprised that the youngling wasn't right beside her rider. Wykla gave a soft laugh, "you know their stomach always comes first." She nodded as the green greeted her. "A pleasure to meet you." Her two flits on her shoulders trilled back to the green.

Bolth perked up calling out to Lownth in greeting having begun to make it a habit to try and greet all his siblings. Though much to his surprise the brown found himself rather over with greens. Giving a quizzical chirp up at his rider she simply smiled down at him very carefully nudging him forward giving him the go ahead to socialize and play. Nuzzling his riders leg lovingly Bolth trotted a ways forward, but still kept within sight of his rider rather reluctant to go more then an arms length from C'rci. Of course this reluctance did not at all effect his want to socialize and be friendly.

Lownth sister. Indeed it is good that we've been given some time to meet and chat. I was worried that with all these many many people I would have difficulty finding my siblings. He replied to his lovely green sister. When she mentioned his rider Bolth turned looking up at the woman with a low loving thrummmm. His little noise getting her attention as the girl crooned right back at him smiling as her little blue spread his wings lifting to his hind feet a bit in excitement before coming back down to look back at Lownth.

Mine is beautiful. Bolth nodded in agreement his tone soft and living. Where is yours? I am sure yours is very well dressed and good looking as well.

Much to Bolth's surprise the next dragon to approach greeted him rather then he greeting them. Turning the blue spotted his brown brother with rider in tow trilling out his own greeting and dancing forward a few steps to say hello. Arjikith brother! Bolth welcomed happily his joy running through his own rider as C'rci looked up from what she was doing eyes landing on K'zair and his brown. Striding forward to fall in next to her blue who leaned into her leg with a welcoming Mine. Leaning down she scratched his eyeridges making the dragon croon as she nodded her own greeting to the other rider.

"Evening. Congratulations on your brown." She offered with a smile glancing down at the blue currently twining himself through her legs like an over affectionate feline. As if sensing his riders mild disapproval Bolth straightened up trying to sit a little more dignified beside her. He had his pride, somewhat, he just loved being close to his as possible.

Mine is very brave. Very very brave. I thought when she first touched my shell that she was much bigger. I do not understand how she fits into such a small form with all that she is. Maybe she hasn't grown all the way yet? Either way, yes Mine is very brave. She never screams or yells, even when I get tangled up in her legs or accidentally knock her over trying to lean into her.

Lownth purred back to her pretty sister, tailtip lashing slightly like a giant cat's.

Mine is very loving toward me. Not so much toward himself, but we shall change that in time. Perhaps mine just needs friends? I have heard friends help.

Her head swiveled toward where hers sat. He looked so tired, although not unhappy. More like he could use a good night's sleep than anything else. She churred over toward him.

Mine, come make friends? she suggested. Or shall I bring the friends over to you?

S'yari mentally laughed. Lownth, beloved. I'm fine. A little tired, but fine. You go have fun, talk to your siblings. I'm alright over here.

I don't believe you, mine. I think you need friends. Lownth insisted, thumping her tail once in earnestness.

I have you, beloved. What more is there to desire?

Lownth mulled this over. She knew hers was being stubborn, and wasn't quite sure how to deal with it yet. Regardless of that, she had made her greetings to Bolth, and he had spoken back, so she must continue the conversation.

Mine is sitting on one of the chairs over near the rider food. Lownth said to her brother. And being stubborn. I can see he is tired. Anyone can see he is tired, but he is insistent than he is 'fine' as they put it. Mine can be very stubborn. Handsome, but very stubborn. Is yours like that?

She Chirped at Falkjir and nudged him to go talk to some of the others
"Ah come on Crimson, I doubt any of them want to talk to me. Even if I did go try to converse what would I talk about?" She pointed her snout to one of the Baby Dragons at the table, telling him that is what he should talk about with someone. He sighed "You're hell bent on making me break this shyness arn't you?" She chirped and nodded. He rolled his eyes "Fine. But you're comming with me." He put her on his shoulder and made his way into the crowed.

Of course you left meat, Firith replied to Bolth, matter-of-fact but not mean; while still vaguely annoyed with him for choosing the human she felt had insulted her, she wasn't going to ignore him. At least, not at the moment. There is too much meat for one blue to eat all of it.

To Lownth, she answered, If you wish, now is a good time. I am not busy.

But I am hungry, Mine. We should get some meat.

Of course. It was something to do, at least! But Ralla didn't particularly want to stand around with all the others while she fed Firith, so instead, she went over and began gathering meat for Hers, intending to feed the green where it was less...crowded, and she wouldn't have to be bothered by potential run-ins with anyone she didn't like.

Arjikith’s eyes flashed merrily at Bolth’s obviously warm greeting. He settled happily, seeming both dignified and relaxed. As K’zair came to stand by him, his hand went instinctively for the brown’s headknobs, and he scratched absently between the dragon’s eyeridges. The touch spoiled dignity and the Arjikith arched his neck to pushing his head into the touch while issuing a happy thumming sound. That is very good, he answered with an attentive voice, though his eyes were still slitted. I do not think Ours will grow much more since they are older. At least, I don’t think mine will. He already stands over everyone anyway. Maybe yours will, since she seems rather small, but we’re supposed to grow much larger later. I guess eventually yours will be the one getting tangled up in your legs. he sounded amused at the idea of size. It hadn’t yet occurred to Arjikith that he was not the most robust or large of browns, but the notion of being as large as he was wonderful… well, it was something to look forward to.

“And on your blue,” K’zair answered warmly with an easy smile. It wasn’t uncommon for blues to Impress to women, though he was a little surprised that a girl so slight in figure had drawn the dragonet. Still, they looked to make a nice pair in spite of that fact.

Maybe it’s because of it rather than in spite, Arjikith interrupted coolly. K’zair managed not to arch a brow at his dragon, but he shelved the subtle dissent for questioning later.

“When they’re a bit older and it’s safer to do so, we can drink a toast to them.” His smile turned forlorn. “It’s for the best, of course, but I’m going to miss wine.” He wouldn’t have dared to endanger his lifemate, but now he was regretting not having indulged in drink more recently before the Hatching. And besides drink, there were… well, other things to miss too. Maybe it was too bad C’cri hadn’t Impressed a green after all.

Mine, what are you thinking about? The brown sounded puzzled.

Nothing, my wonderful lump. You’ll understand later. He shrugged, seemingly about the comment on alcohol. "Have you done anything with your name? I've shortened to K'zair."

Bolth let out an amused trill cocking his head up at his rider an adoring look in his whirling eyes. He looked back at Lownth with understanding nodding his steely blue head to his green sister. Mine is quietly stubborn. Always fighting, always working, a reliable stubborn. Like how the sun rises and strides across our world unafraid to face the dark to bring another day. He replied to his sister quietly his admiration for his rider clear as she leaned into her side. I worry for Mine. Like yours always says he's 'fine,' Mine does not think twice about throwing herself in harms way for another. I fear for Mine deeply. Bolth spoke his wings slumping slightly as he clung to his riders side eyes whirling yellow with worry. C'rci sensing her dragons worry if not so sure about it's cause bent slightly throwing her arms around her lifepartner.

"Are you all right Bolth?" She asked softly stroking his head nobs and pressing a little light kiss to the tip of his nose making him snuffle and shake his head grateful for his riders staunch support.

I have you Mine. All is well. And Bolth spoke true lifting his head to lick his rider's cheek glowing with happiness.

I stand by you my dearest handsome blue. Don't fear. She assured him silently with a smile before looking to K'zair. Bolth himself chose for the moment to not reply to his sister Firith not wanting to cause an argument he had no wish for.

Arjikith brother, yours is certainly a handsome flightless one. I believe Mine likes him though I am not sure how much Mine will grow either. Though I'll admit I can't imagine her being tangled in my legs. Even if she's small in form she's big in, in. . . And Bolth was lost for words in that moment racking his mind for a proper description of his.

In well big. Like a queen in a greens color. He finally settled, curling his tail about his legs holding his head high in pride of his description.

"Thank you." And she gifted him with the most radiant smile she had blushing softly with her joy. "Well we could do a toast with water instead of wine. These great creatures deserve every compliment they receive." Looking between the brown and blue she turned her gaze back to K'zair gold eyes glittering. "And such two fine handsome boys we have by our sides. Wine and other things can wait, but I'll be happy to share a cup, nay an entire skin in toast to our lifepartners." She replied chuckling softly lifting a hand to push a stray strand of red hair from her face.

Mine? Bolth inquired softly unsure of the confusion that laced his riders usually calm composure. Taking a deep breath C'rci looked down at her blue. Her wonderful blue Bolth, her other half.

I'm fine Bolth. Worry not dear one. Worry not. She assured him the blue shaking his head and glancing to Lownth almost as if to say 'See?' C'rci brightened though when the brown rider asked about her name.

"K'zair. It suits you, quite handsome sounding. I was told that women are not required to shorten their names upon impression, but I have you boys to keep up with." And she gave him a cheerful wink and a determined friendly grin. "So I've decided to shorten it to C'rci."

Enyo smiled, "Well Dinchara was being mean so I was barely able to get her a full day serving. No greens today? It's probably best though since I don't have much of any shiny things left. How is your Blue?"

Jineth gave a soft nudge to Enyo's arm, Mine I wonder where you are sitting, should I find you a spot?

(@Clayton- You're welcome to wander by Wykla and talk with her.)

Wykla shook her head, not following what the new weyrling was talking about. She finished getting the pieces into Shirisis and took a wet towel proffered by a drudge. It was little time to get the blood from the meat off her hands.

"He's doing well." She smiled. "This is a feast and I intend to enjoy myself. I hope you do too. Care to join me in a round of the tables?" Wykla realized the new rider maybe want to mingle with her peers instead.

Enyo raised an eyebrow, "Round of Tables, what do you mean?"
She felt a little naive for not fulling understanding though her stomach gave a grumble and she quickly blushed hiding her face with her lose wavy hair.

Crimson chirped in Wykla's direction then bit Falkjirs neck a little "Ok fine you little... I will go make small talk." He slowly walked up and smiled lightly trying to hide his obvious shyness "Hey... my name is Falkjir I see you Impressed."

Arjikith tilted his head as Bolth struggled to make the description, but seemed satisfied by the final explanation of C’rci’s prowess. Ah, I understand. Though there had been no queen in their clutch, their mother was a fine example of her color, and there was no question about what Bolth meant by it. Mine is large in the same way I think. He’s not a queen, but he’s… well, color doesn’t express it well for him. He’s perfect for me. I think he likes yours too, though he has a funny way of thinking sometimes.

K’zair shrugged one shoulder in blatantly false modesty at the compliment for his name. It had been a change he’d looked forward to making for several turns now, and he was rather pleased with the shortened name. On the other hand, it was the final severance from the seaside hovel he’d been born too, to his long deceased mother, to his siblings he’d left behind for his chance to shine. Well it was worth it.

We can visit some day if you like, Mine, Arjikith offered gently, but K’ziar only patted his neck absently. Maybe. Don’t worry about it.

He glanced out to the laden food tables and, spotting the non-guarded, non-alcoholic drinks, made a sweeping gesture at it to C’rci. “Shall we go make the best toast we can then? You can at least keep up with the boys when it comes to water, hmm?” The light in his eyes made it clear he was joking, but he did approve at the shortened name in a way. It wasn’t as feminine perhaps, but to manage as a bluerider she’d have to shed some feminine wiles to make the cut.

Mine has an odd way of thinking as well Arjikith. I do think she likes yours though she has a funny way of showing it. Bolth mused watching as C'rci stepped past K'zair mimicing his own sweeping motion with a bright grin and scoop up two cups in one hand pouring them full with a pitcher of water and handing the other boy one with a challenging grin.

"Oh I can keep up with you boys in more then water. Why I think you'll find my fine brownrider friend that I am quite the girl to handle." She said chucking and smiling up at K'zair her eyes glittering with joy and amusement at the other rider.

Indeed she has an odd way of showing it. Mine it seems greatly enjoys a good challenge. Bolth crooned happily to his brother amused at how quick his was to snap to attention and reply to the brownriders jest with one of her own.

Mine? Tell me what is it you are doing exactly? Bolth asked the blue tilting his head to look up at his rider questioningly.

We're just playing Bolth. She explained with a loving grin to her blue. If K'zair thought he could slight her prowess just because she was female he'd have another thing coming to him.

Playing? I don't understand Mine? The blue questioned with excitement and curiosity at his rider's game with his brother's rider.

Yes a different sort of game Mine. Do not worry. You just know me Bolth. I do not like to lose. C'rci replied chuckling at her wonderful blue. The dragon never ceased to bring a smile to her face.

Mine will win. Bolth called encouragingly to his rider.
